忘却からの帰還〜Atomic Age

イントロのトークでは...

You know every great war produces its great hit songs,
大きな戦争では、大ヒットソングが生まれるよね
and after each war we like to gather around the piano or the guitar and play these songs,
戦争が終わると、みんな集まって、そんなヒットソングを歌うんだ。

We enjoy the songs. because they remind us of how much we enjoyed the war.
歌は楽しい。だって、楽しい戦争の思い出せるから。

Now World War three is almost upon us as you know, by popular demand it seems,
そして、第3次世界大戦が迫っているよね。
どうやら人々の求めに応じて

and it occurred to me that if any songs are going to come out of World War three, we better start writing them now
ボクにとっては、第3次世界大戦から、歌が生まれるので、今のうちに作っておくのがいいよね。

so I have one here.

There's one reference in here that I should explain.

There is a reference to our leading television news commentators Chet Huntley and David Brinkley.
歌詞で、テレビニュースの代表的コメンテーターのチェット・ハントレーとデヴィッド・ブリンクレーの名前を使った。

I feel that this is appropriate because as you know World War three will be the first world war to be seen on television
第3次世界大戦はテレビで見れる初めての戦争になるので、ふさわしいと思ったから。

and I certainly hope that we all have color television by then.
それまでにカラーテレビが普及しているといいね。

なお、ライブでのイントロは、こんなことを言っている。

This year we've been celebratin the 100th anniversary of the Civil War,
and the 50th anniversary of he beginning of World War I,
and the 20th anniversary of the end of World War II,
so all in all, it's been a good year for the war buffs,

a number of LP's and television speicials have come out,
capitalizing on all this nostalgia,
with ..,
with particular emphasis on the songs of the various wars,
I feel that if any songs are gonna come out of World War III,
we better start writing thme now,
