Hi guys!
How's it going?
My name is Micaela and I'm currently making a video program that is hosted on Nestle Japan’s website.
If you're interested in watching the episodes as they happen, check the link below and go to the website.
This video will be reviewing what happened this week.
This week we were in Shizuoka Japan to learn about Wasabi.
Hi!
We're here at 天城越え here in Shizuoka prefecture just outside of Tokyo.
It's called 道の駅 and it's like a little place for people to stop and buy stuff.
They have tons of ワサビ-related products.
(0:31)
We're going to check it out.
It's going to be really fun!
Here we haveワサビ flavored せんべい.
ワサビ flavored ソバ noodles.
And here we have a ワサビ flavored cameraman.
When you hear ワサビ ice cream, you think like yeah sure maybe it's ワサビ flavored ice cream because (it doesn't make sense??) that they would just stick a bunch of ワサビ on some vanilla ice cream, but that's where you'd be wrong.

ワサビ ice cream.
After eating (up?) ice cream, we were taken into the basement to learn how to make ワサビ漬け and ワサビ漬け is kind of like pickle ワサビ.
Interesting thing about ワサビ漬け is that it tastes different depending on who prepares it.

本当?
なんで?
Finally on our way back to Tokyo, we stopped for some seafood and we saw an interesting poster.
You may know that 漢字 for 魚 is this.
But did you know that 漢字 for each fish changes depending on a specific characteristics.
To be honest I could only name like 3 of these.
マグロ
タイ
ひら・・・
ヒラメ!
(2:11)
Finally we had a first meal of the day.
I chose a raw tuna rice bowl and it was delicious.
My friend 坪田 塁 chose some 寿司.
This specific restaurant is famous for its tuna tale stew.
(2:36)
Shizuoka prefecture's beautiful.
Tons of green, lots of nature and ワサビ...it does taste completely different from the stuff you buy in tubes or packets.
Next week we're going to be in a very popular 上野公園 in Tokyo, so be sure to check it out.
There are 2 new episodes every week on the Nestle website followed by my review, so if you're interested in the program, check it out!
If you're not, that's fine.
I'll make a new video on Monday.
See you!
