Today, we are here at a 家族風呂: a family private bath.
We‘re going to show you a little bit about how 温泉 works.
Let’s go! Check it out!

Now 温泉 is a big part of Japanese culture that can be somewhat terrifying for the average North American.
If you find you’re quite shy and not quite ready to expose yourself to the Japanese world, then there’s 2 words that you need to remember.
貸し切り and 家族風呂

家族風呂 means it’s a room specifically meant for families but couples and friends can use it, too.

It’s completely private and you are only naked with the people that you are comfortable with.
貸し切り is also the same thing.
And if you think being naked is just not your thing, well hopefully you change your mind and give it a shot because 温泉 is indeed a huge part of Japanese culture.
I’ve never met a Japanese person who didn’t like going to 温泉.
I go to both and I do agree it was kind of hard to get used to being with a bunch of strangers without any close on it first especially when you look like me, you do get stared at a lot.
(1:32)
But it’s natural and everyone else there is a naked…
It’s not like creepy.
No one is going to touch you or arrest you(?)
Anything… it’s not as bad as you think.
It’s really just a great way to relax and relieve stress and give your body a break.
Try to encourage you to come to Japan just once at least.
Try Japanese 温泉.
