William DebskiやDr. Michael BeheやDr.

Now, it's been frequently mentioned on here that prominent IDers Phillip Johnson and Jon Wells have previously stated their "skepticism" of HIV as the cause of AIDS. To their credit, most IDers I know disagree with Johnson and Wells on this point. However, Scot and Cordova buy right into it. Scot:

That said it's not wholly unlikely that HIV is a symptom rather than a cause of AIDS. From my POV 23 years of considering it the cause of AIDS has not moved us any closer to a vaccine. There are two possibilities in that. The first is that the virus is just too insidious but second is that it isn't insidious it's just not the cause so no amount of effort against the virus will prevent the disease. However it does seem incredibly unlikely that AIDS isn't a transmissable disease caused by infectious element of some sort so if not HIV then what is it? The evidence is circumstantial and compelling but the lack of progress in curing AIDS is also compelling evidence that we're on the wrong track.

Incredibly likely? Because we have no vaccine? That means that more than 99% of all infectious diseases, then, aren't infectious.

“Duesberg’s answer can be found in one word: drugs,” Fischer writes. “And specifically, drug use connected with the kind of sex that is far too common in the homosexual community. While the average heterosexual has somewhere between seven to 14 sexual partners in a lifetime, it is not uncommon for homosexuals to have hundreds, even thousands, of sexual partners.”
...
“Why can’t he get funding for such research? Easy. If AIDS is behaviorally induced, then the solution is simple: stop the behavior. If using amyl nitrites is the cause, then stop using amyl nitrites. If men having sex with men is the cause ... then tell men to stop having sex with other men. If shooting up with needles is the cause, then stop shooting up.”

Fischer continues, “HIV does not cause AIDS. So let’s immediately stop spending billions of dollars trying to kill a harmless microbe. And secondly, let’s tell homosexuals to stop sleeping with other men, stop using poppers, and stop shooting up.”

保守とAIDS再評価運動(HIV否定論)が結びつく傾向があることは否定できないと、UCSDの社会学の教授であるSteven Epsteinは自著「Impure Science -- AIDS, Activism, and the Politics of Knowledge」(1996年)と述べている。

[ Steven Epstein: "Impure Science -- AIDS, Activism, and the Politics of Knowledge", 157-159 ]

By labeling Duesberg homophobic, and by associating him with political enemies on the right, Project Inform sought to annul any credibility that Duesberg might enjoy in gay and lesbian communities. Duesberg himself, however, assiduously rejected any taint of homophobia: "In reality I've paid more ... to them than ... most of my fellow AIDS researchers, who're making millions of dollars by killing homosexuals by the hundreds of thousands with AZT. … It's actually absurd that I'm being labeled the homophobe, when I might in fact have found the real cause of their problem. ..."[61] Whatever Duesberg's beliefs, it is certainly the case that the political configurations in the Duesberg controversy have been more complex than simple labels could suggest. For example, some left-wing commentators have supported Duesberg out of a principled objection to monocausal disease models. "Ruling classes embraced modern medicine because the germ theory blamed disease on invisible microbes and not hazardous conditions," according to one pro-Duesberg magazine article from 1989.[62] Yet the appeal of Duesberg's views to conservatives -- certainly including those with little sympathy for the gay movement -- cannot be denied.

Charles Thomas, the organizer of the Group for the Scientific Reappraisal, has described himself as "libertarian" and claimed that he left Harvard in disgust because the universities had become "totally corrupted by affirmative action, political correctness, the whole nine yards." He criticized the AIDS activist movement as one of "victimology": by portraying AIDS as an "act of God," rather than the consequence of behavior, homosexuals generated sympathy and government funding.[63] Philip Johnson, the Berkeley law professor on the group's steering committee, has also been known for his conservative views. Bryan Ellison made no bones about why he sought to promote Duesberg in the Heritage Foundation's Policy Review , as well as in California Political Review , a journal that has also featured articles about "Hollywood's leftward tilt" and Republican California Governor Pete Wilson's "liberal surrender."[64] Tom Bethell, a columnist who has written in support of Duesberg in various publications, is well known for his right-wing positions, which have included endorsement of such political figures as Patrick Buchanan.[65] Bethell's columns in the Los Angeles Times include one entitled "We May Regret Going Along with This: The Gay-Rights Agenda Precludes Any Public Doubts."[66] Elsewhere he has expressed sympathy for homosexual "recovery" organizations (which encourage gays and lesbians to become straight).[67]
