米国の18歳以上を対象としたAP gfk poll (2014/03/20-24, n=1012)の科学についての世論調査によれば、生物進化よりも、「宇宙はビッグバンで138億年前に始まった」に自信がない。この調査は科学知識を問うものではなく、各文についての自信度を問うものである。

PEWの世論調査(2013)で「大陸は数億年間、動き続けている？」に対して、77%がイエスと回答しているが、これとは大きく傾向が異なる。「自信度」という質問方法がこれまでになかったものなので、この傾向の違いがワーディングによるものかは不明である。
