Alternate Versions The 152-minute extended cut has the following additions and changes: When Frawley and Dino examine the burnt-out getaway car, Dino says that he's also from Charlestown and although there are witnesses, the police are unlikely to get a single response. Frawley deduces that the robbery gang are a new band since he had put away most of the professional gangs away in jail. During Frawley's interrogation with Claire, he reveals more details including robbery statistics including bank robbery being a common thing in Charlestown. However, her question of whether she can get a lawyer has been removed. Doug and James try to replace the robbed money by buying marijuana from a dealer and selling to another dealer. Since the visit to the drug dealer has been shown, Frawley's briefing to the team has been replaced with more shots in the casino and Doug's team taking drugs. When Doug and Krista talk in the bar, there's more dialogue by her that makes her character more unappealing and establishing her as a xenophobic. James stops Krista from hitting Doug before the latter leaves for home. While watching Heat on television, Krista shows up at his apartment before segmenting into the sex scene. Doug later plays puck briefly. The first date between Doug and Claire has been removed in place of a new scene where Claire tells Doug that during the robbery, her assistant manager David was hit by James' rifle butt many times that he had to go for an eye surgery. They head to the hospital to see him. At the hospital, David is revealed to be permanently blind on one eye, as a result of James' outburst of violence. A police officer on duty rants about robbers that makes Doug more aggrieved. A 4-minute scene between Doug and Claire after the restaurant (he learns that the owner is also a friend that uses to play ice hockey with him. He explains about the definition of the slang "Tunie" but lies about his parents, while Claire says she's from Marblehead. Doug also points out that juveniles hold robbers of high-regard like rock stars. Frawley meets Claire again because of missing information, specifically she didn't tell him that she lives in Charlestown, and intimidating her for being suspicious. Doug and James beat the two gangsters that harassed Claire. They make it look like a drug deal gone wrong. More beatings on Alex. (note: this pays off more significantly at the end of the Alternate cut) Extra line by Doug to James: You hate prison but you can't wait to get caught. Extra line by James during the second robbery: He didn't want to end up on the wall of the VFW. Before Gloansy's turn in the interrogation scene, James calls for lawyer, and Doug deliberately speaks too fast and fuzzily on the microphone. The scene where Doug gives Claire a necklace (actually a robbed loot) and her quitting the job plays out differently. In the new cut, it takes place at a park. Now she says that she had voluntarily quit her post and plans to be teacher or a social worker in Charlestown. However she remains uncertain of him as she is unsure whether he was involved in the attack of the two of her molesters. Frawley becomes more suspicious of her when he sees the necklace after being asked to leave. Doug berates James for accepting another job from Fergus, but is told he's can't simply leave because of Krista and her daughter. When he doesn't see himself as a father (because of her going out with a lot of men) they fight. James then recalls of Brendan, a man killed by Doug able to walk away after being shot. Now that the relationship between him and Claire has crashed, Doug gets some cocaine, sits in an abandoned vehicle and fires his gun until blank. This scene is meant to show that his abstinence is over and he is ready for one final heist plus his resolve to kill Fergus. He meets Krista again to tell her that he will disappear for a while after the job. Frawley narrates the jury of the hug contest story to Krista. This scene shows a contrast of reaction between Claire's (natural) and Krista's (mimic / artificial. The robbery team's diversion is restored. Stjernen norway. ET BETYDNINGSFULDT ÆSEL? Vi befinder os i Israel for 2. 000 år siden. Det unge æsel, Bo (Andreas Jessen) må træde rundt i en trækmølle og male korn hele dagen. Indespærret i det lille møllerum drømmer han om at være med i den kongelige karavane. Så blev man da til noget og blev betydningsfuld. Han får næring til sine drømme af duen David (Josef Aarskov) der dagligt besøger ham og fortæller ham om livet udenfor. Og især fortæller han om den kongelige karavane. Sideløbende med, at vi følger disse to dyr, møder vi også den unge kvinde, Maria (Julie Lund) og hendes forlovede/senere ægtemand, Josef. Maria oplever noget absolut enestående: en engel besøger hende og fortæller hende, at hun skal blive gravid helt uden at have haft sex med nogen ? og hun skal føde Guds egen søn! Et godt stykke henne i graviditeten befaler kejseren, at alle skal samles til folketælling i den by, deres slægt stammer fra. Så Maria og Josef må begive sig ud på rejsen til byen Betlehem, selv om hun er højgravid. Vi følger også de tre vise mænd og deres tre kameler, der kommer til kongen, fordi de har set den store stjerne, og ved, at det betyder, at jødernes konge skal fødes. Den onde kong Herodes befaler sin ondeste jæger og hans to dræberhunde at følge efter de vise mænd for at finde den nye kongesøn og slå ham ihjel! Det lykkes musen Bo at stikke af fra møllen ? og så samles det hele til en tempofyldt, begivenhedsrig og farefyldt rejse til Betlehem for alle tre grupper. Fryd og fest og lidt fare Der er ? som så ofte i animationsfilm for børn ? en del triste og farlige øjeblikke. Her er det godt at sidde i nærheden af de mindste seere. Men meget hurtigt opløses situationerne: man bliver venner igen, faren driver over osv. Vi har de sædvanlige roller fordelt: de lidt dumme og sjove (fx to af kamelerne) og de kloge, der forklarer det hele med en hovedrysten (fx den tredje kamel. Vi har de friskfyragtige og klovnene, og så har vi de lidt mere sammensatte karakterer. Bo er på mange måder hovedpersonen og i ham udkæmpes flere kampe. Han kæmper mellem mindreværd og en trodsig bevidsthed om, at han nok skal blive til noget vigtigt. Han kæmper mellem drømmen om den kongelige karavane og så sit ansvar for (og kærlighed til) Maria og den lille, der er på vej. Han kæmper mellem impulsen til at stikke af fra alt det farlige og så impulsen til at blive og redde Maria og hendes lille familie. Bo beder til Gud undervejs, og han tænker på Gud. Ligesom Josef har Bo svært ved at se Guds plan og mening i alt det, der sker. Maria har en stærk tiltro til, at Gud har styr på det, og at de en dag vil se, hvad planen går ud på. Dette smitter efterhånden af på hele flokken. Juleevangeliet Filmen er naturligvis bygget op omkring juleevangeliet i Bibelen og følger det faktisk ret tæt. Eneste væsentlige afvigelse er, at kongens soldater, der myrder alle drengebørn i Betlehem, er blevet til jægeren og hans to hunde, der forfølger Maria og Josef. Dette fif er et godt valg, som får filmen til at hænge sammen, og som tilfører en konstant? spænding ? og det forstyrrer på ikke ingen måde budskabet, som ofte er med næsten direkte citater fra Bibelen: Om Guds søn, verdens konge, frelseren, Jesus ? det er ham, der er Marias baby. Stjernen, som Bibelen omtaler meget, spiller til at begynde med ikke så stor en rolle i filmen, men fylder mere og mere, efterhånden som vi nærmer os fødslen. Bo kæmper også mellem lysten til at lade de to jagthunde smage deres egen medicin, da han får muligheden, eller i stedet at redde dem. Han vælger det sidste, hvilket forandrer dem til gode hunde. Jo, der er happy ending overalt ? undtagen for jægeren, men man ser ikke direkte, at han dør. Det hele ender med en lykkelig flok forenet omkring den nyfødte ? alle badet i strålerne fra den store stjerne, Mange plusser og et minus Bliv endelig siddende under filmens afsluttende rulletekster. Her ser vi i tegninger af, hvordan den lille Jesus vokser op og bliver en stor dreng. Det er et ekstra plus til en film, der i mine øjne fortjener store plusser for teknik, grafik, fortællemåde, indhold osv. Et lille minus: der er lagt gode danske stemmer på filmen. Men de mange julesange, der fylder baggrunden undervejs, er originale, dvs. på engelsk. Så dem får børnene kun stemningen med fra. Men det ville naturligvis blive meget dyrt at gøre soundtracket dansk ? så det må vi leve med. Er udkommet på dvd og Blu-Ray - skriv "The Star" i hjemmesidernes søgefelt. Kan lejes på fx, hvor der skrives "Stjernen" i søgefeltet.

Stjerne invest. “The story of the first Christmas / It takes many tails to tell the greatest story ever” “T he Star” retells the Christmas Story from the perspective of the animals involved. In Nazareth, a mill donkey named Bo (voiced by Steven Yeun) dreams of being a part of the royal caravan. Meanwhile, Mary (voiced by Gina Rodriguez) is visited by an angel that tells her she will be the mother of the Messiah. This miraculous situation is also witnessed by a mouse named Abby (voiced by Kristin Chenoweth. One day, Bo breaks out of the mill and decides to head out with his friend, Dave the Dove (voiced by Keegan-Michael Key. However, hes also mysteriously intrigued by a bright star thats appeared in the sky. Trying to escape from the mill owner, Bo seeks refuge in a yard belonging to Mary and Joseph (voiced by Zachary Levi) where he quickly befriends Mary. After this, a census is issued and the couple begins their trek to Bethlehem. Joseph tries to get Bo to pull their cart, but is unsuccessful. So the couple decides to leave him behind. In the meantime, word of a new King being born and the star in the sky spreads for miles. Three kings tell King Herod (voiced by Christopher Plummer) about what the star could mean. In response, Herod sends out a guard and two guard dogs to try and get rid of Mary and the unborn child. Will Mary and Joseph reach Bethlehem? Will Bo and the other animals find out about Herods plot and do something about it? Entertainment Quality Even though its not the strongest effort as far as animation quality is concerned (a few of the animals could have used a little more fine-tuning) the overall animation is still fairly solid considering the budget was not as lavish as most Hollywood animated productions (“The Star” is estimated at 18-million for production/distribution. The all-star voice cast does a nice job, with the stand-outs being Key, Aidy Bryant (as Ruth the Sheep) Chenoweth and Levi. The wise mens three camels (voiced by Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry and Tracy Morgan) turn out to be a solid comedic trio. The overall story does a really nice job retelling the story without disrespecting the source material or the main purpose of the story. The Birth of Jesus and the events leading up to it remain the same for the most part (despite some creative license in the animals perspective, the only actual event from Scripture that is changed slightly is in how Mary and Joseph find the stable. The film is quite funny, with many laugh-out-loud moments (I think the parents laughed more than the kids at the showing I attended. There are several clever references to Biblical characters and events that careful listeners should be able to pick up on. It moves at a solid pace that remains entertaining through its humor, witty dialog and suspenseful moments. The villains of the movie start out somewhat stereotypical, but go through a surprising redemption at the end that made me think about them differently. This decision adds a little more emotional depth. On the downside, there are a couple of moments where the humor and silliness goes a little over-the-top. Also, while the presence of Christmas hymns and songs does work appropriately at times, there are at least a couple of instances where the placing of the songs is somewhat odd. For instance, the decision to have “Mary Did You Know? ” play when Joseph is trying to find help to fix his cart seems a little out of place. Positive Messages The idea and purpose behind “ the star of Bethlehem ” represents the coming Savior, Jesus Christ. Everyone feels like that they need to “follow the star, ” as it might be important. Indeed, the coming of the birth of Jesus brings characters from different walks of life together. Mary and Joseph go through several moments on their journey where they are unsure of what will happen. But, Mary says, “Just because God has a plan doesnt mean its going to be easy. ” That is a true statement. Ultimately, God knows whats best, and cares for us. Proverbs 3:5-6 brings to mind the fact that we need to trust God over our own understanding. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. ” Joseph is a loving, dedicated husband who will help Mary at every step of the way. In the meantime, in the midst of changing decisions, Dave proves to be a loyal friend to Bo. He sticks around regardless of what decision he makes about the royal caravan. In the meantime, Bo sacrifices his dreams to help save Mary. The film also portrays prayer in a very positive light. We see Mary, Joseph and even Bo pray to God in moments of crisis, and those moments of faith lead to answers to their prayers. Content of possible concern Language: At one moment, Bo seems to be calling his miller owner some possibly harsh words (we only hear these things from the owners perspective, in that case, a bunch of “hee-haws”. Dave says, “ Nazareth can kiss my white tail feathers goodbye” and that something might “tick people off. ” Someone says “gosh” once. Someone is called a “bully”. Adult Content: Nothing inappropriate. There is implied hesitancy in Joseph about Mary becoming pregnant out of the blue (with the Son of God) but its not discussed in a blatant way. Violence: It is clear that a henchman and two dogs are sent out to try and take out Mary and the baby. In a few occasions, we see him unsheathe his sharp, intimidating-looking knife. He also grabs a couple of characters by the neck and throws them aside. Bo causes some slapstick mayhem here and there. He knocks over a couple of people from high places, and spills a bucket of paint on someone. Abby is swallowed up by one of the guard dogs, then spit back out. Bo kicks a dog. Someone falls from a high precipice and lands on another character. A character is knocked into a well. Two animals are shown hanging by a big chain. Another character falls off a cliff. One character is whacked in the face twice by a wood beam. Dave warns a bunch of chickens to “run! ” after seeing a family eat chicken for lunch. Herod briefly mentions “killing” all of the babies in a village, a reference to an event that occurs in Scripture. Other: Dave makes a couple of light bathroom jokes (“Im going to go find someone to poop on! ” “Plant a well-placed No. 2 somewhere”. Conclusion Like “ Risen ” from last year, “The Star” attempts to retell a famous Bible story weve all heard many times, from a fresh perspective. And even though some creative liberties are taken, the overall result sticks pretty faithfully to the Biblical narrative. Also, the movie is not just a flick aimed strictly at kids. The film provides good-natured and clean laughs for both kids and adults. And the film refreshingly restrains the over-the-top silliness that oftentimes characterizes many “kids movies. ” At a breezy 86 minutes, “The Star” remains consistently entertaining and engaging. It also is nearly devoid of problematic content (the only possible issues here are a couple of very mild bathroom jokes and some perilous moments. In fact, the movie very well could have been rated G (I can name a few G-rated movies that are darker and scarier than this. “The Star” doesnt rival the best animated efforts, but it is still a pretty good one. And, its generally respectful, reverential, and clever presentation of the first Christmas makes it a better choice for families this season. This movie somehow manages to take one of the most important stories from history, perhaps THE most important, and trivialize it through low-brow jokes, ridiculously distracting cameos and no-duh epiphanies. It has no further insights into the story of the birth of Christ, instead it mistakes gimmicks and laughless gags as a reason to create the movie. It doesn't even suffice as a kids movie, and in fact may be even worse at doing that then it is for adults.

This is a MUST-SEE movie! We watched this before Christmas due to the story being about the first Christmas; however, as soon as I own this DVD it will be watched year round! The movie was well written, and set to an amazing soundtrack. Visually stunning film that will entertain kids and adults alike. Stjernen hockey roster. Stjerne navn. I took my child to see "the Star" yesterday thinking it would be a nice holiday movie. I mean, a story promoted as the first Christmas and birth of Jesus should be fairly safe, right? Warning, spoiler alert: it is NOT a nice holiday movie. 95% of it was about Mary and Joseph being hunted by the king's henchman, accompanied by his vicious dogs, while the donkey tries to find/save them. Let me say that just because the dogs try to be "good" at the very end, after the henchman falls off a cliff, doesn't make it a happy ending.

Of course, I know that persecution, hatred and violence existed and was part of the history. But Hollywood, please don't sell this to unsuspecting parents as a feel good holiday film! My child said to me afterwards, I never want to see that movie again. this 4yr old is wiser than the producers.
