That's the main overview of the game to those who don't know what it is but Animal Crossing can't be described as just that. What is Animal Crossing to me? What makes Animal Crossing special? Animal Crossing has the ability for the game to take you away to another world. Another world where you do not have any problems except worrying about possible wasps falling out of trees and tarantulas surprising you. Everything is done at your own pace and there aren't any real deadlines that you have to follow. I feel constantly behind and bombarded with real life issues that seem to stack up every single day and when I load up animal crossing at night (I have city folk), my worries fade away and I get lost in that relaxing world. It lets me take a breather from all the stress and anxiety I have about finances, school, and work to focus on the small things in life like waiting for a fish to nibble on my bait while the wind passes through the trees. I have never found another game like Animal Crossing and oh, have I tried. I tried Stardew Valley, a wonderful game but the time mechanics drove my anxiety up the wall. Animal Crossing passes in real time so there is plenty of time to do any of the activities you want to. You're never rushed and anything that isn't done today can always be done tomorrow, or the next day, or even, the next year. The appeal of animal crossing is the enjoyment in the aesthetics and simplicity of a different life. What's your history with Animal Crossing? What made you fall for the series? I have been playing Animal Crossing ever since my friend had given me Animal Crossing City Folk to play on the Wii. I had never heard of Animal Crossing before and when I asked my friend about the game, she simply told me to try it since she didn't want to spoil anything. The game was her parting gift to me; she gave it to me the last time I saw her because her family was moving away due to work. When I first loaded the game, I found that my friend had made a character for me, with my name. I started the game with that character and when I opened my mail box, I noticed that she had sent letters from her character to my character. They were filled with items she had said reminded her of me and her letters were filled with things that made me cry. She told me how much she would miss me and that she hoped her neighbors could help me feel less lonely after she left. It was very touching and I played Animal Crossing so much, remembering her. I stopped playing for a year or two after being swamped with schoolwork. Later on when I moved to go to college, I had a very hard time fitting in with my college culture. I no longer had a group of friends and it was very hard for me to click with anyone on campus. I was miserable in a lot of ways, especially being away from my friends and family. I saw a comic on facebook about Animal Crossing villagers welcoming someone who didn't have any friends and I immediately thought of myself... I obtained New Leaf and at night when I powered up New Leaf, my friends would be there. It sounds sad but it's true. I loved my villagers, I got to know their personalities, and we would exchange gifts. I would play hide and seek with them (it's a minigame) and it filled the social gap I was missing. I finally had something to look forward to every day. I even celebrated my birthday with the villagers since my family couldn't visit me for my birthday. How do you want to get this game?
