story=The Perlmans own a villa outside of Moscazzano in Northern Italy, where they spend their summers and Hannukah. They invite a graduate student to spend six weeks with them over the summer to help Professor Perlman with his work. This summer - 1983 - the student in question is an American named Oliver. While there, Oliver largely associates with the Perlmans' seventeen year old son Elio and Elio's friends, the females among the group whose hearts are aflutter by Oliver's preppy good looks. Oliver, in fact, takes up casually with one of them, Chiara. Elio is an intellectual, but has no experience with girls as he is only now experimenting with his initial stage of manhood and masculinity. If not for Oliver, Elio probably would have chosen Chiara himself, and as such takes up with Marzia instead. Despite their social association and sleeping in adjoining rooms in the villa, Elio doesn't much like Oliver in thinking him too cocky and arrogant partly in that brash American sensibility. In turn, Oliver believes Elio is patronizing in his outward dislike of him. These outward behaviors mask the fact that there is a deep attraction between Elio and Oliver based largely on their admiration of the other's intellect. When they eventually admit that attraction late into Oliver's stay, Oliver is more reticent to act on those feelings in not wanting to ruin his own or Elio's life in still being in the closet, while Elio wants to experience all that sex and love are as he is in the flush of first real love. With Oliver and Elio's clandestine relationship, Elio has to figure out what to do about Marzia, he who may be aware or unaware of her own very deep feelings for him in also experiencing that flush of first love. The other question then becomes if Elio will be able to recover as there will definitely be an end at least to this phase of Oliver and Elio's romance when Oliver leaves to go home at the end of the summer / runtime=132 Minute / user Ratings=8,7 of 10 stars / &ref(https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BNDk3NTEwNjc0MV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwNzYxNTMwMzI@._V1_SY1000_CR0,0,629,1000_AL_.jpg) / 187939 votes / directed by=Luca Guadagnino

You can hear me crying somewhere in the background

I wasted so many YEARS. 0:53 when the emotions hit all at once. Anger, jealousy, sadness, happiness, loneliness. The final monologue from the dad was one of the best moments in film this year. I personally felt like I was in Elio's shoes when he answered the phone. I literally said I miss you in my mind just before he did, and it shook me to the core. Because of people like Chris this movie took the director 10 years to make because every studio director approached, they demanded to put villain in the movie. Like what the hell, can't you people enjoy a simple beautiful love story without cliché coflict/drama Hollywood bs? This is the best movie this year by far, I've seen it 4 times already in the cinema and can't stop thinking about it.
Film Review: Call Me By Your Name" is possibly the name of the best film of 2017. I will likely remember this movie more than any other film I saw this year.
Set in the summer of 1983 in a countryside villa in Italy, filmmaker James Ivory ( Maurice. A Room with a View. The Remains of the Day. Howard's End" penned a screenplay, adapted from Andre Acimen's novel, that is truly breathtaking. Intermixing American English, French and Italian, Mr. Ivory carefully crafts a human story. The main characters are Elio, played by Timothee Chalamet ( Interstellar. Lady Bird. and Oliver, portrayed by Armie Hammer ( The Social Network. The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Elio's father is an eminent professor of archaeology who brings in Oliver, a doctoral student, for the summer to work on his thesis. Bathed in golden sunlight and the ravishing Italian countryside, Elio slowly develops feelings for Oliver. Director Luca Guadagnino ( I am Love. Bertolucci on Bertolucci" triumphs. With only one read through with the actors and shooting most of the film in sequence, Mr. Guadagnino achieves an honesty that is rare on film. Never forced and full of doubt, insecurity, hormones, and missed opportunities, everything about Elio's first love feels like what I remember when I fell in love for the first time. It's a heady experience to be transported back to what it felt like to be in love at 17 or 18 or to remember what it felt like to have a romance that begins in the long afternoons of June and ends when the sun begins to set too early in August. Mr. Chalamet's performance is without a doubt one of the best of the year. He navigates a quiet, yet soulful and sensual summer with disarming ease. He leads the screen with a confidence equal to Armie Archer's bold American bravado. The gentle, yet fiercely emotional, relationship revealed over the course of the movie is stunning. I must also note that this is one of those films that makes you feel like you've been on vacation. The cinematography by Sayombhu Mukdeeprom and attention to detail construct a vivid experience. The charming cobblestone streets, beautiful rocky trails through pine-filled forests, leading to lazy rivers and watering holes are experiential. This film is pretty perfect. "Call Me By Your Name" is a film where you meet real characters and visit a very distinct place in a very specific year. Winner of the American Film Institute's Best Films of 2017, nominated for 3 Golden Globes, including Best Picture - Drama, and nominated for 6 Independent Spirit Awards. I understand that at the New York Film Festival "Call Me By Your Name" received the longest standing ovation in the festival's history. I hope the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences likes this film as much as I did, because it deserves an Oscar Best Picture nomination.

The atmosphere of the film is beautiful, the desperation is good. it does not need to be homosexual in order to understand the characters. There is a love. Social rules prevent this love from happening. You're not watching your homosexual enemy anyway. I love how the first thing elio does before he even opens his eyes is reach for oliver. This is Nolan's best work no doubt. I also loved that there were no cheap or over-done CGI. The aerial shots were state of the art. I don't know why I laughed so hard when he yanked out his speech paper. I was expecting too much I guess, especially the ending was very dull and boring. During the movie I asked myself plenty of times "Oh man, when does it end? It was not riveting at all. If it was raining outside, you had no internet connection or no mobile phone to be occupied with, I could recommend this movie.
The only thing I was enjoying a lot was the Italian atmosphere and nature, the old buildings, the old cars, the diverse languages (French, Italian, German and English) and the pretty actors and actresses.
0:40 love how hes foundling his chest hair. Very hot. This IS EXACTLY why I want to go to Italy. Thank you. Sz c3 b3l c3 adts a neveden performance.
