This is the first movie based on a book where I've read the book before I watched the movie, and now I fall into the category of those people who say that the book is always better than the movie.

This film isn't horrible by any means. It's beautifully shot. The fact that it was shot on film rather than digital adds some grain to the picture that definitely gives the movie a little something extra. The visuals were definitely the best part of the movie. As for the storytelling aspect of the movie, I do think it left much to be desired. In the book that are a lot of little moments and back and forth between Elio and Oliver that build up and culminate in Elio telling Oliver that he has something to tell him. On the other hand, in the movie it just kind of happens out of nowhere. If I hadn't read the book, I might have not even known that Elio had any kind of feelings towards Olivers. Also, the appearance of supporting characters like Chiara and Marzia was so minimal that they might as well have been left out of the movie completely. The thing that bothered me the most was that scenes began abruptly and ended abruptly. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not, but it was unpleasant to me. Maybe I should have waited and read the book after having watched the movie. Maybe I wouldn't have such disappointment over how the movie turned out. Clearly a lot of people enjoyed the movie, but I wonder how man are on the same boat as me.

The most interesting love declaration in cinema history. Honor and respect for those veterans. I tried for a couple of times but i can not watch this scene without smiling. Timothée and Armie' s outfits look similar. You know what things. Hi YTers. Did Armie say No-one pays for being gay in this movie. Is that right Elio? My gosh Armie did you watch the last five minutes of the movies. You don't think Elio paid for being gay when the person he loves tells him I'm getting married? My heart broke til I shed tears for Elio. And the amazing thing was His parents didn't come to him in comfort. He was so tally exposed and all alone. Man I wish there had been an alternate ending. While Elio turned to someone for relief, it wasn't someone for long-standing but rather for sexual release. Oliver on the other hand, made moves on Elio knowing he(Elio) was vulnerable and that he was in a relationship, however off and on. The business of the world around Elio as he is crouched in agony is just stunning. Papa Elio needs you. Go to him.
Every time an actor plays gay, an instant question is how was the kiss? How did you handle a sex scene? and I'm like, what is this, junior high? It's ACTING, it's not Porn. Do these people think actors are really doing it on Film? Heck, even the kiss is fake. Amie Hammer comes off as very shy and Chalamet is a milennial so it's a non-issue for him. I think the obstacles in this movies are good enough. Young love like this one sometimes gets interrupted by things that arent that big. It made me remember being young and in love. Teenage love is like this regardless of sexual preference. Its just love and I thought this was beautifully made. Brilliant, realistic, on the edge of the bed nerve wracking movie. Bravo. Elio, Elio, Elio, Elio. God damn, something in my eyes. These two proved love is unlimited, no boundaries. I want that instrumental version of Mystery of Love so bad. I don't know if this is just my interpretation of the scene, but when Oliver tells Elio, Don't go anywhere. Stay right here. It's as though Oliver is speaking those words to the part of Elio who is bold, unafraid of telling him how he feels. Oliver already knows Elio isn't going anywhere. Oliver touches his chest twice with his finger and begins to walk away, and as Elio responds You know I'm not going anywhere, he is looking towards the bus, a reminder that Oliver is the one who has to ultimately leave. I wonder if that place really did mix up all of Oliver's pages or if he just lied so he could spend the day with Elio.

It almost feels as like in another universe/lifetime, they would be exactly like their characters in the movie. Its so beautiful to see the ppl behind the camera. I love how we're at the point where there's videos like this now. Im gonna watch this over and over until I can watch the entire thing with out screaming “””oooooh im dead!” And without looking away. Its just a private moments and it killls me cuz its sooooo EVERYTHING.
The sequel should be called and i'll call you by mine.
