I had to go to the hospital today and my new doctor was a lady. As she's talking to me about my health concern I can't help but notice that she is very beautiful. I know people can wear very minimal natural looking make up, but she was sat very close to me and I don't think she was wearing any at all. And I thought, wow, what a beautiful lady. It's so rare to actually see women without make up on. And I think, what the heck has changed over the years. I mean there's always been some makeup in the history of women (rogue etc) but it felt like they roughly looked like the same person even with it on, not so much today. If you go to botched surgeries and instagram reality subreddits you could get lost for hours looking at how crazy things are becoming. I just found out you can face tune videos as you are shooting them! It seems like a lot of low self esteem, surgeries, photoshop and lies. There are people on there that are very good at picking out warped walls, etc from people using photoshop or filters etc that show where they've made something bigger or curvier, etc. Some are obvious, some are not until people point them out. The thing is I think we're slowly getting use to people's new looks. Whether they are real or not. If I saw some of these pictures 20 years ago it would be evident something was amiss, but today I feel it's gradually changing our perception and isn't as noticeable unless it's bonkers extreme. And despite obvious photoshop fails - people missing half an arm, no belly button, nose face tuned out, people with physical impossible 6 inch waists, etc. Do men even notice or don't even care? Like do they think - this is obviously fake but it's hot or do they really think that women's bodies can overcome biology and anatomy that's been in play for geeze since the dawn of time in the last 10 years? I watched the movie "Foul Play" with Goldie Hawn a few months ago and in it you can tell she has real boobs, it's almost startling. Kinda like -oh, yeah, that's right - that's what boobs really look like, how they hang etc. Now this is coming from a woman, so yes I could just take a look at mine in the mirror, but somehow mine seem the odd ones out. I don't know how to explain. I know that beauty standards change continuously but I feel like we're heading into dangerous territory. It's interesting - some of the men my age have said that the first naked women they ever saw were naked tribal ladies in the pages of National Geographic. I wonder what young people would think now if they saw those magazines and saw actual bodies. Would they think it's odd? Would it be - ewww, gross? I feel like we're really losing our love for natural beauty.
