One of the Best films in Indian Cinema History. 100 Baahubali will come but real life Heroes are Real who fought for INDIA. Tanhaji is one of them. Panipat - Preview It is high time I (or maybe each one of us as an audience) set up a few guidelines while watching period dramas that are based on real life. My first one would be, "Forget it is a real-life story. " There is no way it will be accurate down to the last detail. I would think even an attempt to be close to reality would be overkill in terms of effort and costs, so no one is really trying. When most films barely manage to achieve what they set to achieve, why even try to like or dislike them based on what they aren't even shooting for? Let alone production, I am convinced most makers are not even a hundred percent interested in figuring out facts or unknown/unexpected details. It is just a topic that caught their fancy, and they want to narrate a story. With these minimal expectations, often I find myself enjoying the extravagance on display. If there is a bit of zing in narration, even better. However, these days, with at least two films a year that have such elaborate visuals, there is no novelty. Thus making my interest in the movie completely dependent on the story and how it is told. Unfortunately, Panipat 's trailer doesn't create that kind of interest. The casting seems uninspired. The visuals seem like a copy-paste from any of the previous period dramas, maybe from Gowariker's own stock footage. We are now banking entirely on the telling of the story. Hopefully, there will be enough to engage us. Panipat releases on 6 December 2019. Music Reviews: - "There's not much to hang on to in the soundtrack, which is a pity. " Times of India - "Minimalist albums like this one, comprising three songs, is a delight because each and every track stands out, thanks to the fact that there are no reprised or different versions of the same song. " - meeta, a part of the audience The futility of war?if we know anything about the War of Panipat, it is that. But then that is almost any non-jingoistic war film implies. So it would hardly surprise us if this were the takeaway from Panipat, the movie. Interestingly, that is not entirely what it shoots for. It focusses instead on the plans and plan Bs. Despite having betrayal in the title of the film, it doesn’t focus too hard on the acts of loyalty and betrayal but spends its energy and time-space on the pursuit of loyalty and reasons for betrayal. Since they were not all-out bad, they kept the attention where it was supposed to be on the story. This is why the length of the film bothered me a lot less than the minutes over 120 usually do. And there were 50 of those! By the end, I was convinced that most of the pauses in the narrative and lingering about in the screenplay might be necessary to absorb the interactions, deals, and counter-deals. The same goes for the voice-over. Very rarely do I feel I need something explicitly spelt out for me. At a couple of points, I was actually grateful for the helpful commentary. It also helped that the dramatics were kept to a bare minimum. Except for a few moments in the climax, there were no in-the-face theatrics. No slo-mo entries, no overbearing introductions?except for maybe the one for Abdali ( Sanjay Dutt). In fact, the action extravaganza was conspicuous by its absence. Only about half-hour of action in an almost three-hour film must have needed quite some restraint. Much appreciated. Even the action bits share the war-time with strategy. Along similar lines, I found the underwhelming performances a positive contribution to the film. No really. A star-actor playing Sadashiv Rao, for instance, would have distracted from the heroism that the director wanted to attribute to him. Arjun Kapoor ’s lack of screen presence keeps him from stealing his character’s thunder. I was pleasantly surprised by the subtlety of his act, especially in his interactions with his wife, Parvati, played by Kriti Sanon. Sanon herself is allowed to go beyond the “prop” roles that she usually does. Her voice modulation here actually tells you about her character’s feelings. In contrast to the two, Sanjay Dutt comes across as hammy. Is it just me, or were the first few notes of naayak nahi played through the film? The huge supporting cast doesn’t take too much attention?good or bad. The only exceptions might be the better-known faces such as Padmini Kolhapure, Mohnish Behl, and Zeenat Aman. But, it is good to see them on screen again. And it is brief so doesn’t really hamper the narration. There are also the little things that felt like there was some attempt at attention to detail. A young voice for a young character when he is singing, and the recoil of canons are a couple of such examples. Except for a few moments in the climax there were no in-the-face theatrics. I am not sure about the accuracy of the costumes, the props, the décor, the language and accent used by people from the different regions, considering it is a period drama. I liked that some of these departments, including CGI, were less than perfect. Since they were not all-out bad, they kept the attention where it was supposed to be on the story. Panipat has clearly taken liberties to gloss over aspects such as travelling heavy and with pilgrims and women that are considered as reasons for the failure of the Maratha attack. It also leaves the reason why Abdali might never have returned to Hindustan out and makes his victory letter a eulogy to the great warrior that Sadashiv was. Now, whether this is what the makers believe or whether this route was chosen to avoid controversy, we will never know. But even as we attribute righteousness to our wars, if we take the lesson from history that Panipat really should teach us, it would be enough?war is futile. 35 reviewers (? ) - 13 yays 16 so-so 6 nays Warning: clicking on "full review" will take you to an external website that could contain spoilers. Watch panipat movie online. If you thought, like me, that we lost Ashutosh Gowariker after Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s? Jodha Akbar,? we weren’t really correct. After the mess that his last outing with Roshan and Pooja Hegde ?? Mohenjo Daro? ? was, the director is back in action with? Panipat: The Great Betrayal.? I’m still wondering which betrayal the title of the film refers to, but, we are letting that go. Set in the 18th century,? Panipat? tells the story of what happened to the Maratha Empire after the death of Bajirao, Mastani and Kashi Bai. Now, Nanasaheb is on the throne and the Maratha Empire is spread out almost in the entire country. From the very first scene, the premise is set, and strongly held and maintained by Gowariker and his team of writers, Chandrashekhar Dhavalikar,?Ranjeet Bahadur,?Aditya Rawal and even Ashok Chakradhar, who has written the dialogues. Mastani’s son, Shamsher Bahadur (Sahil Salathia), Nanasaheb’s son Vishwas Rao (Abhishek Nigam) and Sadashiv Rao Bhau (Arjun Kapoor) are at the forefront of war now, lead by the latter. But Afghan King Ahmad Shah Abdali (Sanjay Dutt) comes in their way as he wants to be the one ruling over Hindustan. The clash between the two caused the Third Battle of Panipat, which sets the premise of the film. While the film will obviously be compared to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s? Bajirao Mastani,? it won’t be fair to entirely compare the two. Firstly, Bhansali’s film was a love saga. Gowariker focuses more on the political side of things in his film, while love remains a sub-plot. Secondly,? Panipat? begins where Bajirao Mastani? had ended, in fact, much after it had ended. The culture, background, setup is the same, but it just isn’t fair to compare. The sets aren’t as grand as those in Bhansali’s film, or rather films, but they match up to the expectations we have of Gowariker after Jodha Akbar.? And here, in? Panipat,? he goes a step ahead. The castles, tents, oversized cooking vessels are not treated as mere props and something to take our breaths away, but rather as the normalcy of the life of the Marathas. The second half does see a looser grip over things, but it works. The war sequences are brilliantly shot and choreographed but there is less of essence as there should be owing to the fact that the Third Battle of Panipat was a huge moment in Indian history. Nevertheless, the film works great and much of the credit goes to the actors, especially Arjun Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, who lead the film in their career best performances. I’ll be honest. I did not expect both of them to deliver as they did. After watching the trailer, I could neither buy Arjun Kapoor as the Maratha hero that Sadashiv is, nor could did I think that Kriti Sanon had the natural flair to play a Peshwin Bai. My apologies. And not to compare, but perhaps Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra Jonas had set the bar too high for these actors. And both the actors make sure, they touch the bar, if not break it. Arjun Kapoor as Sadashiv Rao is sincere and earnest. He goes from playing the young lover in a film like? 2 States? to playing a very mature and informed character. Rao is everything and all of it together. He’s bound by duty ? towards his family and his motherland, love ? towards the woman he can’t hurt and even enmity ? towards the Afghan King. In every single scene, he is more than just one thing. While in the court, he’s a nephew, a husband, a brother, a soldier too. While at war, he’s a soldier, a husband, a protector. There is a lot of layering to him, and Kapoor walks through the film so gracefully. Even though Rao is too good to be true, and his layers could’ve been more visible, this sure is Arjun Kapoor’s most mature performance. Kriti Sanon too delivers and how! She plays Parvati Bai, who, like Rao has multiple roles all at once. She’s a doctor, a wife, a daughter-in-law, a Peshwin Bai, even a soldier, and all of this while belonging to a lower caste that Rao. After?Ashwini Iyer Tiwari’s? Bareilly Ki Barfi,? I hadn’t really seen the correct potential in Sanon, but here she proves me wrong, and proves that she is an actor who is worth investing a good script in. Like Kapoor, she too makes Parvati hers and makes this her best performance till date. In a lazily written character, Sanjay Dutt is wasted. Of what I’ve read of Ahmad Shah Abdali, he was a mighty man, and a very interesting character arc couldve been written for him, but it’s not, making him the weakest point of the film. He’s fierce and angry, but the purpose is not always evident. In the beginning of the film he lives in Afghanistan and the Kohinoor is with him for some reason. That’s when I lost most of my interest in his character and perhaps even in Dutt’s performance. All in all,? Panipat? deserves to be watched. I did not sit in a houseful theatre as I did in? Pati Patni Aur Woh,? but truth be told,? Panipat? is the film you need to be watching this weekend ? for Arjun Kapoor, for Kriti Sanon, and mainly for the return of Gowariker. How to watch panipat movie online. Rakes Yadav. ?. Ye song mere goosebump ko 1000 times bda deta h, proud to be Hindu ? Bolo har har mahadev ???. This is how you suger coat a loss.

Being a keen reader of History and having read an excellent title on the Third battle of Panipat (Solstice at Panipat) It was the most awaited movie for me this year, although i was bit skeptical about the cast. But the moment the Magic Unfolded, i was just hooked on to it. Great attention has been paid to the built up to war, how the alliances are formed and the betrayals for me the most stand out performance among all was Kriti sanon, a great revelation and she proven her acting chops in this movie and may i take liberty to say this was her best performance till date. Arjun kapoor shines as Sadhashiv rao bhau, though role seems a bit subdued he has done justice to the role. Zeenat aman has a small role but a very powerful and emotionally charged scene in the movie.
Gowarikar has kept story line simple and has stayed true to the facts. Barring few over glorified scenes (As was in Bajirao Mastani) this has been an accurate depiction of the great battle. I think more substanial roles could have been given to Padmini Kolhapure and Milind Gunaji, both very fine actors. Special mention to Mantra, Goodness he managed to play Najib khan rohilla to perfection, i can never imagine anyone but irrfan khan (Great Maratha series) playing najib, but mantra has played this role to perfection. Songs give you goosebumps (Mard Maratha and Mann mein shiva. Gowarikar has managed to make a great comeback post mohen jo daaro debacle. A must watch, get some taste of great history.
