Movie Patron gibier d'eau. 6:05 wtf richard??. T here’s something uniquely dispiriting about a film that manages to waste the considerable talents of almost everybody involved, both in front of and behind the camera. Director Miguel Arteta, who brought a bracingly transgressive tartness to indie comedies Chuck & Buck and The Good Girl, delivers sloppily paced hack work here, while Tiffany Haddish and Rose Byrne, two fine comic actresses, are shackled to a screenplay so crassly tone-deaf, it makes you want to chisel off your own ears. Haddish and Byrne play Mia and Mel respectively, childhood friends who realised their dream of starting a cosmetics company together, but are pitted against each other when they are bought out by uber-bitch billionaire businesswoman Claire Luna (Salma Hayek). A nagging score flags up the spaces where the jokes should be. The one redeeming feature is Billy Porter, playing Mia and Mel’s employee Barrett, whose “tragic moment” of fabulous melodrama is more fun than everything else in the movie put together. Level 1 I think I should go to Bangkok again. I'm paying 1k for a decent studio in Tokyo but the walls are paper thin and I can hear my neighbours and they can hear me very easily. It's hard for me to work whenever I want when I hear my neighbours moaning and groaning. I think Tokyo is nice to vacation in but living here, there's no value. But of course there's better infrastructure here. Clean sewage systems and tap water is a huge deal for me. Not tryna get food poisoned again. level 2 You might like Taipei or Taiwan in general. It's developed and in many ways similar to Japan. At the same time the price level is much lower than Tokyo. It's closer to Bangkok than to Tokyo. level 2 Oh wow. I though rents in Tokyo were expensive. I understand you wanting to move but $1000 is less than I expected for a studio there! level 2 Why not move to another city/town in japan? level 2 Interesting because I was thinking of moving to Tokyo (been there 3 times in past year). If not that’s an insane deal. level 1 You can also get decent apartments on airbnb in bangkok for a little more, say $400-500. I'm currently looking at booking a few months in chiang mai for around 450pm. level 2 Depends on your definition of decent. I’m not in the market but I am curious. I’ve stayed in Airbnb places like that in Bangkok but walking around the city, I’ve seen insane prices advertised for new development high rises. My favourite part tho is they all have pools and gyms so once you get home from work (imagine you’re a loca BKKite) you don’t have to go out and brave the traffic again. There’s probably a 7-11 or family mart right nearby and your exercise is in the building itself. level 2 western accommodations are amazingly cheap in thailand and pools are quite common at that kind of price point.
