２章外伝： アングヴィクの森０１
Later that night, the party stops to find a suitable camp, deep into Angvik's Forest.
その夜遅く、一行はアングヴィクの森の奥深くに 適当な野営地を探すために立ち止まった。
This looks like a good, defensible clearing. We'll set up camp here for the night.
ここは防衛に適した見晴らしの良い平地だ。今夜はここで野営をすることにしよう。
I think we should march past this Forest. I don't want to spend even one night here.
この森は 一晩でも早く通り過ぎたいな。
There's no reason to worry. Centaurs are glory - hunters. They won't attack random travelers needlessly. My House has no quarrel with them, not that I know of. They'll leave us alone.
心配する必要はない。ケンタウロスは名誉あるハンターたちだ。むやみに旅人を襲ったりはしない。俺の一族と彼ら一族は争ったことはない。おそらく彼らは我々と敵対はしないだろう。
So you cleaim, but that doesn't give me any comfort. Centaurs are a bunch of brutes. They're all mindless animals.
そう主張するが、心配は尽きないな。ケンタウロス族は残忍な連中で、頭の悪い動物と僕は見ている。
I'm surprised by your ignorance. Centaurs are noble warriors, much like the Vikings we just fought.
お前の無知には驚くな。ケンタウロスは「栄光」を持つ戦士だ。さっき戦ったヴァイキングもそうだ。
... You're not making me feel better about our odds of survival. How do you know so much about the Centaurs, anyway ?

My father hired them as auxiliary mercenaries during his rebellion. I met a few. Drank some fine ale with them, had a jolly good time. Unlike Vikings, who live and breathe ' honor, ' Centaurs focus on glory. They relish the thrill of a hunt against well - prepared foes. The only reason they would cast aside their values is if we wronged them. They detest thieves and curs.
俺の父は反乱中に彼らを傭兵として雇ったんだ。俺は何人かと会って話したよ。一緒に美味いビールを飲んで、楽しい時間を過ごした。「名誉」を重んじるヴァイキングとは違い、ケンタウロスは栄光に重きを置く。彼らは敵との戦いを狩りとして戦う。彼らがその価値観を捨て去るのは、我々が彼らに不当な扱いをした場合だけだ。彼らは泥棒や悪党を嫌う。
Well, at least I have one thing in common with them.
まあ、少なくとも僕たちと彼らと共通点が一つある。
Exactly. Don't worry, Jakka. The Centaurs won't bother us. Now, let's get a fire started. I haven't eaten all damn day.
その通りだ。心配するなジャッカ。ケンタウロスは邪魔しない。さあ火を起こそう。今日一日何も食べていないから腹が減ったよ。
