The children wait with impatience for when at long last they will be shown the Christmas tree and the presents. The long awaited moment comes: the handsomely adorned Christmas tree is presented to the assembled company. Drosselmeyer suddenly appears disguised as a magician: he is not recognized by the children. Their unknown guest¡Çs ability to make their toys come alive delights the children but, as everything that is clad in mystery, it involuntarily arouses their fear. In order to calm them down, Drosselmeyer takes off his mask and the chil?dren now recognize their beloved godfather. Marie wants to play with the wonderful dolls which have come alive, but they have already been tidied away. To comfort Marie, Drosselmeyer gives her the Nutcracker-Doll. Marie takes a great liking to this awkward, funny creature. Marie¡Çs brother Fritz, who is a great tease and very naughty, acci?dentally breaks the doll. With great tenderness, Marie comforts her injured Nutcracker and rocks it backwards and forwards. Fritz and his friends now put on mouse masks and tease poor Marie. The guests appear from an adjoining room. After the final, ceremonial Grossvater dance, they all leave. At night the room where the Christmas tree stands is bathed in moonlight. It looks mysterious and full of magical secrets. Overcoming her fears, Marie has come to the room to visit her ¡Æsick¡Ç Nutcracker-Doll. She kisses the doll and rocks it. Drosselmeyer now appears. But instead of her kind godfather, he has turned into a wizard. At a wave of his hand everything around them is transformed: the walls of the room slide back, the Christmas tree starts to grow. And all the toys come alive and grow together with the tree. Suddenly, mice creep out from under the floor?boards, led by the Mouse King. The dolls are panic-stricken and thrown into confusion. The Nutcracker¡Çs quick wits and bravery save the day: lining up the lead soldiers, he boldly leads them out to do battle with the mice forces. However, the forces are unequal, the advantage is on the side of the evil mice. The Nutcracker is left alone to face the Mouse King and his suite. Marie is out of her mind with worry over the danger that threatens her doll. At this very moment, Drosselmeyer hands her a lighted candle and she throws it at the mice who scurry away helter-skelter. The battle field empties. The only person left here is the Nutcracker who lies without moving on the floor. Marie, together with the dolls, hurries to his rescue. And now a miracle occurs¡ÄBefore Marie stands a handsome youth, the Nutcracker-Prince. He walks forward to meet her. The walls of the house disappear. Marie and her friends are standing under a star-studded sky, by a fairy-tale Christmas tree. Snowflakes go round in a magical dance. Marie and her Nutcracker-Prince, beckon, as if to a beautiful dream, to the twinkling star at the top of the Christmas tree. They climb into a magic boat and set off for the top of the tree. The dolls follow behind them. Act II Marie and Nutcracker-Prince are sailing in their magic boat through the Christmas tree kingdom. There are their friends, the dolls with them. The shining star is getting closer and closer. They are just about to reach the top of the tree when they are suddenly attacked by the mice and the Mouse King who have crept up behind them. Once again, the Nutcracker-Prince goes boldly into battle. Horribly frightened, Marie and the dolls watch the fight. The Nutcracker-Prince vanquishes the enemy. Joyous victory celebrations are underway. The dolls dance, the candles burn even brighter, the Christmas tree comes alive. The evil mice have been defeated. Marie and the Nutcracker-Prince are radiant with happiness - they have reached the kingdom of their dreams! But it appears all this was just a dream. The plot is as crazy as it is convincing. The surreal action takes place in an increasingly fantastical world, leaving the cozy domesticity of Clara's parent' house far behind. As soon as the audience adapts to one new world, another follows swiftly on as transformation follows transformation. The magician Drosselmeyer sets out to find a young girl who can break the curse imposed by the Mouse King on his nephew Hans-Peter, and restore him to human form. Mice and toys stage a pitched battle. Drosselmeyer sends Clara and Hans-Peter to the Land of the Snow and then to the Kingdom of Sweets where they meet the Sugar Plum Fairy and her prince. Bolshoi ballet: the nutcracker free movie. I want to see. This is fantastic. The Nutcracker Ballet Story The Most Common of Many Variations The Nutcracker Ballet is based on the story "The Nutcracker and the King of Mice" written by E. T. A. Hoffman. Although what is seen on the stage today is different in detail from the original story, the basic plot remains the same; The story of a young German girl who dreams of a Nutcracker Prince and a fierce battle against a Mouse King with seven heads. When Marius Petipa had the idea to choreograph the story into a ballet, it was actually based on a revision by Alexander Dumas, a well known French author. His version reflects more of what we have come to love as the Nutcracker Ballet. The Party Scene It is Christmas Eve at the Stahlbaum house -- A large and grand house with the most beautiful tree imaginable. The Stahlbaums are hosting their annual Christmas party, welcoming the arrival of their family and friends. The children, Clara and Fritz, are dancing and playing as they welcome their friends too. The party grows festive with music and dance as godfather Drosselmeyer arrives. He is a skilled clock and toy maker and always full of surprises. Drosselmeyer draws everyone's attention as he presents two life-size dolls. They are the delight of the party, each taking a turn to dance. The children begin to open gifts when Drosselmeyer presents his to Clara and Fritz. Although his gift to Fritz is quite nice, he gives Clara a beautiful Nutcracker that becomes the hit of the party. Fritz becomes jealous and, having a bit more spunk than a boy should have, grabs the nutcracker from Clara and promptly breaks it. Clara is heartbroken looking on as Drosselmeyer quickly repairs the Nutcracker with a handkerchief he magically draws from the air. As the evening grows late, the guests depart and the Stahlbaum family retires for the evening. Clara, worried about her beloved Nutcracker, sneaks back to the tree to check on him, falling asleep with him in her arms. The Fight Scene As the clock strikes midnight strange things begin to happen. Clara begins shrinking as her beautiful Christmas tree grows high above her. The toys around the tree come to life while the room fills with an army of mice, led by the fierce Mouse King. As the Nutcracker awakens, he leads his army of toy soldiers into battle with the mice. The Mouse King corners the Nutcracker and battles him one-on-one. The Nutcracker seems to be no match for the Mouse King. The Nutcracker and his army can go on no longer and are captured by the mice and their King. Clara makes a final daring charge throwing her slipper at the Mouse King, hitting him square on the head. The Mouse King drops to the floor and the mice run away, carrying off their leader's lifeless body. The Land of Snow The Nutcracker turns into a Prince and takes Clara on a journey to the Land of Snow, an enchanted forest wonderland where they are welcomed by dancing snowflakes. The Land of Sweets The Prince escorts Clara to the Land of Sweets where they are greeted by the Sugar Plum Fairy. The Prince tells her about their daring battle with the army of mice and she rewards them with a celebration of dances. The Spanish Dance The Arabian Dance The Russian Dance The Chinese Dance The Mirliton Dance The Waltz of Flowers As a finale, the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Cavalier dance a beautiful Pas De Deux. The Dream Ends Clara awakens from her dream and finds herself by her Christmas tree with her beloved Nutcracker.

Hoffmann's tale "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. " The ballet was first presented to the Russian public in 1892, and the premiere was at the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg. The libretto was choreographed by Marius Petipa, though several months before the premiere an illness got in the way of Marius finishing and his best assistant, Lev Ivanov, was brought in to finish the piece. The ballet starred Sergei Legat as the Nutcracker Prince and Timofey Stukolkin as Drosselmeyer. Interesting enough, the children's roles were performed by students of the Imperial Ballet School of Saint Petersburg, and not by adults. Unfortunately, the premiere was not a success. It was only in the early 20th century that after several reworks did this ballet start to become popular. At the beginning of the First World War the plot was russified, and the main heroine was renamed Masha. Her brother, Fritz, kept his name because he was deemed as a negative character. This tradition survives to this day. The plot is based on two children - Marie and Fritz who anxiously await Christmas (New Year's) presents. One of the last guests to arrive is Drosselmeyer, Marie's and Fritz's godfather. Drosselmeyer is mysterious, and has the ability to make toys come alive. Drosselmeyer gifts Marie The Nutcracker, but Fritz quickly damages the new toy. Night sets in. Marie returns to the Christmas tree to check up on The Nutcracker, when all of a sudden Drosselmeyer appears and makes the whole room come alive. The Nutcracker, the toy soldiers, the mice, and the Mouse King all come alive, and a battle ensues. The first battle isn't very successful for The Nutcracker and his, but Marie intervenes and the mice run away. They set off on a magical boat ride through the wonderland, but right before they can reach their destination, the Mouse King and his mouse army attacks again. This time The Nutcracker is victorious. Everyone starts celebrating, and then just as suddenly as it began, the dream ended. Marie wakes up, and realized it was only a dream. She holds The Nutcracker toy firmly in her hands. This version of The Nutcracker has become world famous and loved by people of all ages. Experience this magical ballet by buying official tickets on our website. If you're in Moscow during December or January take part in this timeless tradition. We really hope you enjoy it! The Nutcracker in other theaters The Nutcracker ballet premiered at the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg in 1892. The Moscow premier took place almost twenty years later - in 1919 at the Bolshoi Theater. Alexander Gorsky choreographed this version. Today, at the Bolshoi Theater The Nutcracker is performed according to Yuri Grigorovich's choreography. Besides being popular in Moscow and Saint Petersburg, The Nutcracker is also shown in other theaters such as: Novaya Opera Theater Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre RAMT and others Besides Russia, The Nutcracker is also very popular in other countries. For example, in 1954, The New York City Ballet gave its first performance of The Nutcracker. This version was choreographed by George Balanchine. The show was shown during Christmas, and later spread to the rest of the United States. The original fable and the ballet went on to inspire several movies and animation films. Amazing choreography. Utterly beautiful. I was open mouthed watching this. Each one's perfection is jaw dropping. Can't believe Zakharova is just one among several superstars at the Bolshoi. Thought she was singular; this video was eye opening. The unpararelled training at the Bolshoi is breathtakingly displayed in the finished product. Bolshoi ballet 3a the nutcracker free reaction. I'd love to see a recording of this entire performance. Everyone is good here but Clara totally sells it, both as a dancer and an actress even though it's not a speaking role.
