So this movie is not Ju-On. Not even close to it.

The story places itself in it's universe, it uses it's known sound effect and the idea of the curse. That's all. Otherwise, you are going to see terrible actors without character. There's is no character arc at all. The story is just a CHEAP (with big letters) ripoff. br> It's all about weak jumpscares (you even know when to expect it as they turn the sound off to warn you) and plotholes ofc. I would not make horror movies as it's not my style, but there was a scene in a wardrobe... How an Earth did anyone on set thought that it was the right setup? They missed everything that made Ju-On good and put their amateur thinking into this movie instead. Not worth the money. (There were 2 people walking out of it.) Btw, the cinematography, the editing, the acting, the directing (especially) was just awful. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone even if you liked any of the Grudge movies.

If you want to compare specific scenes from both films, you should keep the original audio. The rock music gets in the way of the comparisons. Me coming from THE GRUDGE 2020 seeing If This Trailer Is good And Dame I was RIGHT... 3:48 yeah I can relate to that. This paranoid, paralyzed vampire act's a little old. I told my mom to listen to this and she said “That sounded like a fart!”. Everyone's either pregnant or dealing with a death in the family The stray cat in the outside establishing shots is not ONLY pregnant. but she's also coming to terms with her mate, snowball's death... But she's also dealing with a spooky grudge kitten ghost... But unlike the little japanese boy ghost that sounded like a cat in the og American remake. its a ghost kitten that makes human sounds. More specifically... sounds like brett from accounting at the nearby office building. The sound he makes just horrifies the pregnant stray. She's off doing her cat thing. when suddenly a ghostly kitten appears and makes the horrifying sound i just made a pot of decaf if anyone's interested.
I still get goosebumps and tears when I hear Ecto 1's siren. Old girl is back. Damn my inner child from the 80's is hyped for this. Edit thanks for the likes! Let's hope this one is awesome. Conjuring siccin (recomended.

Still not had creepy and SUSPENSEFUL (cause you know that's a thing) as the original 4 movies (cause the Japanese ones went downhill after those, especially Sadako Vs. Kayako even though that was cheesy fun.

All I'll say is I should've went and saw Frozen 2 instead. Worst movie ever. The stairs scene was done best by Ju-On (2000) and The Grudge (2004. Hot Damn. This is like finally finding the antidote after 3 years of poison pumping through my veins.
