As a 40 year old, I've been told that this movie is too old for me but, I just love everything about it. The music is so great (One you hear the Trolley song you cant not sing it all day! ). Judy Garland is so likable and does such a good job playing the girl next door. The family drama is both touching and hilarious! There is a reason this is a classic! Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2019 Format: DVD Verified Purchase This is one of my favorite Christmas movies! I am so glad amazon had it in stock at the seller. Personally it's a great movie, in color, lots of singing with a sweet romance & lovely family you can't help but like!! I enjoyed the plot, lovely scenery in terms of cinematography & all the music! great movie!! Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2016 Format: Blu-ray Verified Purchase One of those nearly perfect movies: a film musical that incorporates its story and songs seamlessly, featuring a cast of superb performers and all the technical 'know how' that Old Hollywood was so great at, recreating a world gone by that the movie audience could step right into, in this case 1903/04 St. Louis, Missouri. Judy Garland added to her immortality with this portrayal of a young woman in love with 'The Boy Next Door'. A family comedy/drama with dark overtones, this beautiful Technicolor musical is one of the great classics of Hollywood's Golden Age. Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2017 Format: DVD Verified Purchase I originally bought this because of the 'Trolley song' but found the movie worthwhile for on its own. Its a musical (which I like). If you are looking for action, this ain't it, it is a movie about a St Louis family in the very early 20th century. How can a girl meet a guy and still be oh so proper. Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2019 Format: Blu-ray Verified Purchase This is not the real version.. the packaging is off, there were scenes missing from the movie and every time Judy garland had a cut off the audio. Fake. Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2019 Format: DVD Verified Purchase Got this for my adult daughter she love the movie since she was a kid. Was in new condition and now she enjoys it any time she watches it. Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2013 Format: Blu-ray Verified Purchase I'm from St. Louis so I have a soft spot in my heart already for this story. It is a terrific family story with characters with very distinct personalities. One of the best features of this movie is the fall/winter atmosphere. One of my favorite scenes has got to be a Halloween scene with all the neighborhood kids in the middle of a street. It is hilarious. They are burning furniture in the middle of the road and talking about basically assaulting people (I assume they were joking). It's surreal... because today these kids would basically be considered a criminal street gang! It's funny stuff like this and heart that makes this an amazing movie. And the Bluray picture is amazing! Colors pop and the image quality is very clear. The packaging for this Bluray is a digibook format and is very sturdy. It includes several pages of color photos and facts about the movie. Highly recommend! It tells the story of a turn-of-the-century family in suburban, Midwestern St. Louis of 1903, who live in a stylish Edwardian home at 5135 Kensington Avenue. The city, and the well-to-do Smith family (with four beautiful daughters), is on the verge of hosting and celebrating the arrival of the spectacular 1904 World's Fair. However, the family's head of the house is beckoned to New York due to a job promotion - an uprooting move that threatens to indelibly change the lives of the family members forever. Filmed during WWII, the decision to remain in St. Louis in the film's conclusion affirmed that nothing will be altered for the American family. This gem of cinematic, picture-postcard Americana and youthful romance is richly filmed in Technicolor. It marked the beginning of the golden age of M-G-M musicals and producer Arthur Freed's unit, and ultimately became the second most successful film for M-G-M. The story is based on the book of the same name from Sally Benson's memoirs of her life in St. Louis, Missouri from 1903-4 - they were recalled and written in multiple issues of The New Yorker Magazine from 1941-1942 and originally published under the title "5135 Kensington" and eventually gathered together as The Kensington Stories. The charming stories, a dozen in all to represent each of the twelve months of the year, are expressed in the film in its musical numbers. The film abandoned the 'put-on-a-show' mentality of so many other backstage song/dance films. Its songs and wonderful performances are carefully and naturally integrated into the story of the close-knit family's day-to-day life, and serve to advance the action and plot from one season to the next. This most popular and financially-successful film was produced by the legendary Arthur Freed. The Vincente Minnelli and Judy Garland collaboration did not get off to a happy start, thanks to the director's perfectionism and his star's determination to parody the sweet, naive 17-year-old she was playing. Judy Garland, now in her early 20s, was weary of playing juveniles and wanted to move on to more sophisticated roles. During the first day of shooting, Minnelli demanded endless retakes because of dissatisfaction with Judy Garland's line readings, while Garland was reportedly in near-hysterics and demanded that producer Freed intercede. Gradually, however, Judy Garland began to appreciate her director's vision and settled down to deliver an unaffected performance of great sincerity. Soon she and Vincente Minnelli became a couple and were engaged by the end of filming. They would wed on June 15, 1945, and divorce in 1952. ¡ÆMeet Me in St. Louis¡Ç broke box-office records and won high critical praise including The Hollywood Reporter's description, "a warmly human entertainment which has captured a nostalgic charm rarely if ever equalled on the screen. " A critic for Variety wrote, "Miss Garland achieves true stature with her deeply understanding performance. " Blu-ray Video Quality ? The film is accurately framed at 1. 37:1 and presented in a stunning 1080p encoded image. The transfer features a number of impressive qualities, not least of which is the Technicolor. Viewers should be thrilled by its depth and fidelity, particularly in the final act where the reds and greens of the Smith Sisters¡Ç gowns look incredibly rich and luxurious. Detail is also excellent, revealing heal Meet Me in St. Louis download free. You can see where Liza gets her talent. Judy was just amazing and you can see some of her great quirks in Liza. ???. I was not in the Christmas spirit until I heard this yesterday at Starbuck's. Thanks Judy. 0:12 Skip to my lou my favorite song. Just awrsome! There will Never b another Judy. This is probably one of Judy Garland's best roles, and she gets a good variety of material to work with. A couple of the musical numbers stick with you after the movie is over, both because of Garland's singing and because of how well the songs themselves were written. Garland also gives a lot of life to her fairly straightforward character. Several others in the cast are good also, but it is Margaret O'Brien who is the most unforgettable, giving one of the finest of all performances by such a young performer.
Meet Me in St. Louis download page. Yah Nat had a long career thanks for the comment. With a good cast, a worthwhile story, and some fine musical numbers, this is a very enjoyable and pleasant classic that is worth seeing more than once. While in one sense it is nostalgic, it really just recognizes some of the things that are the most meaningful in (family) life, regardless of the era. At least for those who enjoy classic cinema, Meet Me In St. Louis" would be a very hard movie not to like. Just gotta love her. ¡ÈLike this¡É Me: yeah boi just like that???. Happy MMISL day. Who's playing piano? It looks like she's really playing. I wonder if it was scripted or improv when Judy messes up her hair just slightly - brilliant move.

Song make you wanna cry thinking bout Christmas

Some of the happiest times in my life was watching old movies with my grandmother. I am watching The Bells of St. Mary's and reflecting about all those old movies and the joy it brought my grandmother and ultimately, me. I would see her with tears in her eyes, not because of being sad but her own reflections of her life and when she had first seen these old movies as a girl and beyond. There are things that I cannot remember but times like these are forever.
Don't know why, but I have a hankering for some hickory nut cake... Such a supportive father lol. Haven't laughed this much in a long time. Thank you. As soon as I heard her voice I knew it was Mrs Howell. Meet me in st louis download.
