Dr. Who Watch movie maker. Why is this the first time I noticed the face of boe in the background of the subscribe scene. That's my second favorite Dr Who scene of all time! My favorite is 10's I'm a Time Lord speech on Voyage of the Damned. I am waiting for Star Trek to get diverse. To date I have yet to see a WHITE Klingon. ;P. Plot Twist:This is the actual Van Gogh not an actor. The Cybermen have invaded the comments section, take a shot every time you see the comment, this looks way better than series 11. The nightmare Yaz had seemed really weak. Oh no, her sister didn't call anyone when she ran away. And it really doesn't make clear what the anniversary was. Let's celebrate that time you ran away from home and then the police brought you back? Having said all that, I did like interpersonal relationship stuff with the companions at the end. Yaz with her flashback & the police officer, as well as Ryan with his friend, and also Graham. I may not be a fan of how Chibblets handles Doctor Who, and the Doctor proper. but he and his team do know how to do personal drama.

Rather than villains suffering a violent defeat at the hands of the protagonist, villains are often forgiven, healed, given a new perspective, or revealed to be "misunderstood monsters. Exemplary line: Because I'm The Doctor and I cure people. br> 2) It's a show with "boundless horizons. There aren't a lot of settings that can potentially be a mash-up of any / all other genres. Superhero & Anime milieus are about the only ones I know of. Dr. Who is another one. On any given day, you could go from the stone age, through the Renaissance, up to modern times, and on into the far-flung future. Along the way, you could find magic, science, superstition, the mundane, and the supernatural all colliding together. Infinite possibilities.

3) It has the charm of a British hero. There's something quaint about a protagonist who saves the day at the same time that he's checking his pocket watch, or pining for a cup of tea. This is a quality we love about Bilbo Baggins, Arthur Dent, and Sherlock Holmes. Turns out we love The Doctor for the same reason. 4) It's a show that mixes mystery, terror, humor, and romance all very well. Not a lot of shows can do this. Buffy pulled it off week-to-week. Supernatural has done a reasonably good job. Dr. Who mixes them all expertly, sometimes blending them all together in the same scene. (The episode "Doomsday" is perhaps the best example.) 5) It has cute trappings / furnishings: A time machine shaped like an old 60s police box, it's bigger on the inside, the sonic screwdriver is the universal do-it-all tool, psychic paper is the license to go anywhere. Not only are these intriguing in their own right, they're also useful plot devices. 6) It evolves over time. The ability to have The Doctor regenerate and pick up new companions keeps things from getting stale. There aren't a lot of shows that have run since the early 60's (with one large break in the middle. If you don't like the set of characters they've got now, wait a bit and they'll deal out a new hand that they might like better. 7) It's welcoming to newcomers. You don't need to start at the very beginning and ingest hundreds of episodes to get up to speed. Just jump in anywhere you like 'cuz they'll re-explain things like the TARDIS and Time Lords and whatnot to the viewers at regular intervals. 8) It's a show that can be watched with the whole family. There are some scenes that are a little scary / frightening, but not gory or disgusting. There is occasional romance, but it's pretty innocent stuff. It means something to me to have a show I can watch with the wife & kids that we can all enjoy and talk about later. 9) Many of the scripts feel like they're written by a 6-yr old (kind of like "Axe Cop. to wit: The Doctor falls out of the sky! Then some green, spiky-headed, aliens show up! Then a bunch of planets appear in the sky! Instead of rolling my eyes though, I'm delighted with this. I think it helps me to tap into my own "childlike sense of wonder" from days of yore.I love how this truly brings out the best in each Doctor. Whenever the Doctor regenerates, he becomes a different person, and we find that hard to accept and get used to. But at the end of Eleven's time, he said, everyone changes, and it's very true. We change in ways that are hidden, but he changes in ways that are much more obvious. My favourite has always been David and Matt, however, this has truly given me a new appreciation for Christopher and Peter. The Ninth Doctor had just come out from the war, and to see the enemies who he spared continue to cause trouble to the universe, he feels anger, rage, and sorrow. Only towards the end, does he accept that the war is a part of him, and that he has done what he believed to be right. The Twelfth Doctor, is slightly bit more arrogant, he's really revealing his age, and no longer hiding his pride as a Timelord. Having finally accepted his past at the end of Trenzalore, he has become whole, and has finally become the Doctor. What this show is trying to teach us is that. We should believe and have faith in our actions, and that we need to accept the past, because only by doing so will we be able to become whole. This literally just made me feel like typing up this up. I felt like it was one of those English assignments where you have to analyse literature.

And that's the problem isn't it. The rejuvenated Doctor Who returns for its ninth series of episodes on BBC One this weekend, extending a beloved British television tradition that stretches back to the show’s November 1963 debut and has grown to encompass hundreds of installments, a variety of spinoffs, and a dozen (official) Doctors, all of whom did distinguished work outside the series. In that spirit, we’re honoring the actors who’ve inhabited the role by dedicating this list to some of the more interesting moments in their big-screen résumés ? all, alas, with the unfortunate exception of the Sixth Doctor, Colin Baker, who’s focused his efforts outside the film industry. That still leaves us with an eclectic selection of movies, ?some of which you may have forgotten ? or simply never knew ? featured one of the Doctors, so without further ado…it’s time for Total Recall! William Hartnell ? Brighton Rock (1947) 95% Years before he became the original Doctor, William Hartnell scored a key role in Brighton Rock, director John Boulting’s widely acclaimed adaptation of the 1938 ?Graham Greene novel about a gang of British hoodlums whose enforcer (Richard Attenborough) murders a reporter in retribution for a story that got his leader killed ? then grows increasingly violent and paranoid as he’s hemmed in on all sides by people who could prove his undoing. Toss in appearances from Hammer vets Christopher Lee and Barbara Shelley, and you’ve got all the ingredients for above-average pulp from a studio whose name is synonymous with the stuff. Calling The Gorgon “Enjoyable nonsense, ” F5’s Jake Euker wrote, “the passing decades have rendered it more nonsensical, and thus more enjoyable. ” Jon Pertwee ?? The House That Dripped Blood (1971) 85% The House That Dripped Blood promised viewers “TERROR waits for you in every room” ? and if that promise proved somewhat unfulfilled in this typically uneven anthology effort, it was still true often enough to recommend the end result. Pertwee, whose Doctor Who tenure started the year before his appearance in House, appeared in one of the movie’s better-loved entries, an amusingly morbid piece about a buffoonish actor who buys a vampire’s cloak without realizing it has dark powers ? or that he should keep it far, far away from his shapely co-star (Ingrid Pitt). “The first thing that should be noted about The House That Dripped Blood is that no blood is dripped, ” mused Ken Hanke for the Asheville Mountain Xpress. “Knowing this will perhaps save disappointment along the way. ” Tom Baker ?? Nicholas and Alexandra (1971) 67% Prior to becoming the longest-tenured and arguably most widely recognized Doctor ? playing the role for seven consecutive seasons between 1974 to 1981 ? Baker landed his first major film role in 1971’s Nicholas and Alexandra, in which director Franklin J. Schaffner dramatized the fall of the final house of Russian Romanovs. While Baker played neither Nicholas nor Alexandra (those honors went to Michael Jayston and Janet Suzman), he scored an even more satisfying part, playing the infamous mystic Grigori Rasputin. 11th Doctor: I remember this. Almost remember. This is when he was remembering meeting his current self when he was the 10th Doctor. Yeah, I know, wibbly-wobbly, timey-whimey. :P. The getting older ahead of their friends thing was brought up during Rory and Amy's time, śo it is interesting to see this brought up again. I don't see any of the three sticking around if one or two of them leave. Yaz might consider it but ultimately realise it wouldn't be the same.
