I'm one of the Uyghur People of central Asia, and the Chinese Government has locked up many of my friends and relatives in concentration camps. I'm trying to help bring the worlds attention to this issue, and to shine light on the horrific human rights abuses happening in Xinjiang. I'm the founder of the Campaign for Uyghurs, and I'm a full time activist who travels the world giving talks and connecting with other groups that have suffered from Chinese repression. I've worked with Uyghur detainees in Guantanamo bay and I've raised a family. I'm currently banned from China because of my political work. Today I'm being helped out by Uyghur Rally, a group of activists focused on demonstrations and campaigns around these issues in the United States. Ask Me Anything! Since 2015, the Chinese Government has locked up millions of ethnic Uyghurs (and other Muslim minorities) in concentration camps, solely for their ethnic and religious identity. The ethnic homeland of the Uyghurs has become a hyper-militarized police state, with police stations on every block and millions of cameras. Cutting-edge technology is used to maximize the efficiency of this system, with facial recognition and biometric monitoring systems permeating every aspect of life in Xinjiang. This project is being orchestrated by the most senior officials in the Chinese government, and is nothing less than a full blown attempt to effectively eliminate the Uyghur people and culture from the face of the earth. This nightmare represents a profound violation of human rights on an industrial scale not seen since the second world war. They have gone to enormous lengths to hide the extent of this, but recent attention from investigative journalists and activists the eyes of the world have been turned on this atrocity. What can you do? - Visit or for more information. PROOF - PROOF - PROOF - Ask me anything! I'll be answering questions all afternoon. EDIT: 5pm ET; Wow! What a response. Thank you all for all the support. We're going to take a break for a bit, but I'll try to respond to a few more comments at a later time. Follow me, CFU, and Uyghur Rally on twitter to stay updated on our activities and on the cause! @uyghurn @rushan614...... UPDATE: 12/12: WOW! Front page. Thanks so much Reddit! Well, from Uyghur Rally¡Çs end, we¡Çd like to say a few things: First of all, we are DEFINITELY not the CIA¡Ä we are just a group of activists that care a lot about something. Neither is Rushan. Working for the US government in the past doesn¡Çt make you a spy, and neither does working to end human rights abuses. Fighting big wrongs requires allegiances between activists, nonprofits, and governments¡Ä that¡Çs how change happens! So, for those of you who say we are the US government, you can believe that¡Ä but it¡Çs not true. What is true is that something horrific is happening. There¡Çs multiple ways of understanding it, and some details are hard to confirm, but there is overwhelming evidence of atrocities happening in XinJiang. This nightmare is real, no matter what the CCP says, and we feel that everyone in the world has a moral responsibility to do something about it. A lot of people have spoken about feeling helpless ? so what can you do? Here¡Çs a few things: Donate to Uyghur activist organizations ? Campaign For Uyghurs and others (). Support other organizations representing oppressed religious and ethnic minority groups, such as the Rohingya in Bangladesh. Support Free Hong Kong. Follow us on social media - @UyghurRally, @Rushan614. Read and share media articles highlighting what¡Çs going on in XinJiang. Western media has done a good job of covering this, but all over the world it is being highlighted. Join our stickering campaign! ¡ÈGoogle Uyghur¡É. You can print out stickers on our website () and distribute them! Boycott Chinese goods manufactured in XinJiang, and avoid companies that do business there or support the technology of repression. Cotton from Xinjiang is a big one, as are Chinese facial recognition/AI companies. Contact your government and ask them to do something about it! In the US, this is your senators and your congressmen. There are bills passed and being drafted can do something about this. Other countries around the world are also considering doing something about this, so look into local activist groups and movements within your government to stand up to Chinese oppression. Stay active and watch out for propaganda ? question everything! It¡Çs nice to see such a robust discussion occur in the comments section here on Reddit. That couldn¡Çt happen in China. Also, a last note. The Chinese government is not the Chinese people ? sinophobia is a real problem in the world. This is one nightmare, and shouldn¡Çt encourage further global divisions. The only way forward to find a way to be on the same page, and to support people everywhere all over the world. Freedom is a fundamental human right. "Respect and honour all human beings irrespective of their religion, colour, race, sex, language, status, property, birth, profession/job and so on" - Quran 17/70.

Access Article listing / Links Open Directory Full-text Search Torrent InterPlanetary File System Information In a 2015 New York Times op-ed the chief medical officer of Liberia argued that the Ebola pandemic responsible for the loss of over 2, 200 lives could have been prevented if not for a paywall blocking access to an article from 1982. Dividing the world¡Çs scientists with a paywall in the middle of a global humanitarian crisis is an unacceptable and unforgivable act of criminal greed. In the developing world the price for a single article can amount to as much as half a week¡Çs salary for a physician. A few days ago, I found an early-release coronavirus article with a $35. 95 access fee for non-subscribers. The fury I felt brought tears to my eyes. Me and a few friends share that fury, so we gathered a collection of five-thousand scientific studies covering any article title containing ¡È coronav* ¡É from 1968-2020. The scope of the papers spans not only the 7 human coronaviruses, but up to 40 other Coronaviridae family strains. The Ebola virus showed us that every study counts. We are on the first step towards compiling a complete open-access Coronaviridae research catalog for the world¡Çs scientists, journalists, and virology experts to draw from to fight the virus and save lives. Our project is illegal, but it¡Çs the right thing to do in this crisis. We refuse to put copyright before human lives. Sharing everything we know about the virus is essential, which is why international scientists are openly sharing their coronavirus findings in an unprecedented way. Developing-world scientists often work without article access due to complex and expensive contract agreements between publishers, universities, and hospitals, relying on overseas colleagues to help them hunt down PDF files. The virus is not going to wait for this, so we need to act with conviction, now. To their credit, publishers made a few dozen papers open-access in the last few days, which you can find over at Elsevier¡Çs Novel Coronavirus Information Center and Wiley¡Çs Coronavirus collection. While Wiley is slating to shut down their collection in April, our collection won¡Çt be shutting down anytime soon. We¡Çre going to keep growing to help our scientists out, and you can help us complete the catalog by identifying any papers we missed. All extant Coronaviridae research, accessible in seconds, by any scientist in the world. It¡Çs the least we can do to help. Methodology How did we do it? We scanned Sci-Hub 's 80 million title collection for the coronavirus, then we extracted the titles and Digital Object Identifiers (DOI) to an index, and exported the PDF files to upload them to ¡Çs full-text search repository. How can I help? We always need developers and seeders. You're welcome to join our Discord to offer your expertise. You can also help us identify new articles by joining our team spreadsheet here. Request access and you can begin adding new article titles to the list. You can also help share word of the collection with the scientific community by reaching out to journalists or other Who is helping us? Our brave host is, a ¡Ènon-profit, community driven platform dedicated to the archiving and long-term preservation of any and all data, ¡É making this project just one of the many public access preservation projects they stand behind. You can aid projects like this one by donating toward their server bills. A thank you to Sci-Hub and Library Genesis. Last year communities across reddit (including r/seedboxes and r/DataHoarder) came together in a mission to secure and preserve Sci-Hub and Library Genesis, collectively the two largest free and open non-profit library collections in the world: Sci-Hub¡Çs 80-million scientific article database that made this project possible, and LibGen¡Çs 2. 5-million scientific-book collection. The libraries fulfill United Nations world development goals mandating the removal of restrictions on access to science, and they serve developing world doctors, academic researchers, and other experts in society with the knowledge they need to build a better world. Keeping these libraries open and thriving means saving lives, educating the world, and providing invaluable science to humanity¡Çs global experts. Thank you to everyone involved in the project, for their support, and to all the scientists around the world working on behalf of humanity today.

These are just my thoughts, so feel free to set me straight. Tl;Dr to eliminate the anti-vax movement we should pay more attention to why women don't trust the medical industry and stop just writing them off. I was reading this very sad article on the freebirth movement and reflecting on the fact that these online alternative medicine communities are populated largely by women. It's not usually talked about except as a reason for their ignorance- "dumb stay-at-home moms with nothing better to do" but that's obviously not the case; a lot of these groups are full of people who are thinking critically and weighing what they think are their options. But maybe we should be focusing more on why so many women don't trust the medical industry and focus on regaining that trust instead of just bemoaning them as idiots. It's a perfect storm, especially in America, where the relentlessly confusing, wring-blood-from-a-stone capitalist medical industry adds to the problem. Western medicine has undermined and ignored women forever. Gynecology and delivery have been subject to so many fads and changes over time, and the hospital seems like a pretty stressful environment in which to have a baby. Medicine says, "Umm, ladies, it's probably in your head, and I know that after the 3-minute appointment you just paid out of pocket for" American parenting culture says "you are fully responsible for everything your child experiences and becomes, so you must weigh EVERY DECISION with the gravity of Thoth. " American insurance companies say, "we decide the difference between treatment you WANT and treatment you NEED and also you should pay very close attention because it's YOUR JOB to catch us if we bill for the wrong thing. YOU have to know how much it costs before you take it/test it/have it done, but also we won't tell you and make you feel like an idiot for asking. Best to just stay home. " I mean, no wonder moms are trying to stay out of it completely. I'm not blaming individual doctors. Just the awful, awful system. Thanks for listening to my rant.
