And I am of the belief that Char's behavior in the movie is due to brain injury suffered after his battle with Haman at the end of MOBILE SUIT ZETA GUNDAM. It would be interesting to see a manga focused primarily on the years between MOBILE SUIT ZETA GUNDAM and CHAR'S COUNTERATTACK to see what Char was actually doing to become the next leader of Neo Zeon. The heroes of the movie are Amuro Ray, Bright Noa, and the Londo Bell fleet trying to stop Char from sending Axis down to Earth and causing an extinction level event. Another thing to wonder about after seeing this film is if Tomino started his sabotage campaign with this film instead of Victory Gundam. Because there could be an argument made that he might have. Because with this film we see the end of the age of Char Aznable and Amuro Ray, and in its wake we see the events leading up to HATHAWAY'S FLASH that will see the Earth Federation become more of a problem for Spacenoids than during the time of the Titans from ZETA GUNDAM.

I don't get it but it looks cool. Out of all the Gundam outings, the most touching ones I've ever seen were Wing, SEED, 00, Iron-Blooded Orphans, Unicorn, and Narrative. The Phenex Unicorn is a sad, sad mobile suit, because the soul of poor Rita Bernal is inside its Psychoframe, and it's just as cruel of a fate as the souls inside the EVA units' cores in Evangelion. November 25, 2019 10:44 am When it was recently announced that Crunchyroll would be launching a merchandising line with the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, I noted how it was a natural next step following the recent steps taken to help push the anime to Western audiences in recent years. Recent years have seen a concerted effort to reintroduce the franchise to fans around the world and increase its popularity outside of Japan. One welcome part of this recent media blitz on the international, and in particular the US, market is the wide availability of legacy titles within the franchise’s illustrious history, going all the way back to the original anime production from 1979. In celebration of this original production’s 40th anniversary, the movie which follows on from the series, Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack, will make a return to cinemas next week on December 5th. This is a fitting movie to celebrate the franchise’s 40th anniversary for multiple reasons. While recent series have mostly remained independent of each other while holding a place within the wider Gundam chronology, telling their own original self-contained stories, at first the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise told an epic tale of the rivalry between Amuro Ray and Char Aznable which found its eventual conclusion within Char’s Counterattack. What better way to celebrate the 40th anniversary than a movie concluding the story set up in the franchise-spawning anime. Not only that, while compilation films for the previous series existed, this was the first original movie in the franchise. The plans for this screening, handled by Fathom Events on behalf of Right Stuf Anime, are for subtitled screenings to take place for one night only on December 5th. The 40th anniversary of the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise is roaring on in style. Not only is Yoshiyuki Tomino coming to Anime NYC 2019, but one of the fan-favorite features?1988's Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack ?is coming to U. S. theaters for a one-night screening event. Tickets are now on sale for the screenings, which will be held at select theaters on Thursday, December 5 at 7:00pm local time.
