The set designers extensively photographed the MCC and duplicated it down to the last detail including stenciled lettering on the walls, and the layout of the Ford Aerospace video display consoles. It is virtually impossible to tell that the move WAS NOT shot in the actual MCC. The details that were changed in the movie were for the most part insignificant to the story. Large teams of people working behind the scenes on the actual Apollo 13 mission were consolidated down to a few characters in the movie. The flight controllers work rotating shifts, yet only the primary team was depicted in the movie. Adding the other flight control shifts would have been more accurate, but could have been confusing. Also, it gives a context to the wonderful 2015 song "Go! " by Public Service Broadcasting (PSB). I know its about a different flight - "Go! " is Apollo 11 - but its still an ace track. Btw, if you haven't seen PSB's late night Prom of their album, "The Race For Space" on the BBC (22/07/2019, at the Royal Albert Hall), definitely give it a watch! It was a tense and heart warming story. It was a phenomenal mix of incredible actors. It was a very adventurous story and a high flying film. It's historically accurate apart from the lighting in the space ship after the power was cut, but overall it was a good movie. It was a very good movie but when they went past the landing sight it would have been quite tricky to see - the perspective was unrealistic. It was good most of the time but when you were just about to think it was going to get better it didn't quite.

So, if Ken Mattingly hadn't been removed from the flight, would they have died up there? Seeing as how he was more less the one who came up with the plan to save them from the ground. Cool under pressure give the saying a completely new meaning... I just realized, after watching this movie literally countless times, how stacked the cast was. There are so many highly talented actors even in minor supporting roles that add so much but so effortlessly. They dont give one line to Glynn Lunney. Flight Director for Geminis & Apollos. He was right with Gene. Marc Mclure just sat there next to him. This is one of my absolute favorite movies. Super brilliant. I love these videos. I've watched this one multiple times. And now I'm back again on the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing.
