I called it. Legendary work as always. Love these videos ! You seem so happy and that's amazing ?. Kris <3. Level 1 Thanks for bringing this into the reddit world again. I hope this gets seen by a few thousand people. I think the study states that about 7. 5% of the money given to countries who NEED the aid, goes into offshore bank accounts. Meaning the people in control of the money are padding there pockets, and there friends pockets with money belonging to the poor and unfortunate. level 2 There has to be a better system than just handing over a cheque. level 2 Let's stop giving out free money to corrupt govs and actually spend it on our fucking people who need help. level 2 Could the aid be a debt trap? it's loans right? what if the bribes are going to leaders to induce them to saddle their countries with debt they can't repay? I'm not arguing with you because I'm just trying to find out what's going on. The xfers are coming from the world bank or from the countries treasuries? level 2 The money are not helping the poor, but the riches living in poor country. level 2 This is hardly news. Countries needing aid are always going to be affected by the scum who thrive in those situations, probably even attracting them from neighbouring nations or others as rich money making grounds for criminals. level 2 Tbh, 7. 5% seems pretty reasonable. Shit, it's less than most VAT. I was honestly expecting like 50+% level 2 I am not entirely convinced of the following but what about the next argument: a benevolent efficient empire is better than a thousand corrupt nation-states. The ones who most benefit from the lack of a world government are the corrupt elites of failed states that defend autonomy only because is the best way for them to own a territory and their people through clientelism and the monopoly of the force (army police) It seems counterintuitive but a world government may be a better solution to distribute responsibility Do you see any logic on this? Aid is not going to cut it when there is a lack of minimum infrastructure and market resources. Thos failed states are trapped in poverty and corruption because they don't have the absolute minimum for democracy and free market to develop in any significant way level 2 I'm only being charitable When the paper states local offercials what are they refering to? The local people whom recieve the contributions and whose job it is to distribute it, or the world bank officials? In the case of the local offercials wouldn't it make sense to censor the outcome of the study since the truth would discourage people to aid these organisations or instituions that in general. Is the article implying that the world bank and the local offercials are cooperating to hide the money in offshore bank accounts? It's a pretty bad system if they just send the money to some local people. level 1 hm, rare to see the corruption in such a blatant fashion level 2 Your optimism is surprising. level 2 Huh? In highly corrupt countries, corruption is so common that being obvious is irrelevant because it becomes so normal. level 2 This isn't necessarily blatant. It's hidden. That's why these researchers had to use correlative techniques to statistically infer the corruption, rather than actually tracing the money from the aid to the offshore accounts. The steps the corrupt officials actually had to go through to appropriate the aid for themselves could be convoluted and difficult or they could be simple. We can't tell from this research. The fact that it coincided with the aid transfer would seem to imply it was simple, but there still could have been elaborate setups in place ahead of time to facilitate the corruption. level 2 Look how important I am, I got a flair! 11 points ? 23 days ago If true then the author is too afraid to go to wikileaks but posts it on reddit without details. level 1 You're telling me corrupt countries when given money are still corrupt? Well I never.

Excellent reading, I really enjoyed that. Crime is hella low in this jurisdiction if the cops have time to babysit and do light chores. [I only did the red light district and weed tour in Amsterdam.
