Meet me in st. louis movie songs. I've always loved Donald O'Connor! Debbie Reynolds is superb. Meet me in st louis tv movie. With a good cast, a worthwhile story, and some fine musical numbers, this is a very enjoyable and pleasant classic that is worth seeing more than once. While in one sense it is nostalgic, it really just recognizes some of the things that are the most meaningful in (family) life, regardless of the era. At least for those who enjoy classic cinema, Meet Me In St. Louis" would be a very hard movie not to like.
This is probably one of Judy Garland's best roles, and she gets a good variety of material to work with. A couple of the musical numbers stick with you after the movie is over, both because of Garland's singing and because of how well the songs themselves were written. Garland also gives a lot of life to her fairly straightforward character. Several others in the cast are good also, but it is Margaret O'Brien who is the most unforgettable, giving one of the finest of all performances by such a young performer. The story-line is generally overshadowed by the musical numbers, but it also works in itself. The plot deals with the kind of simple family questions that are usually only of importance to those directly involved, yet the film makes the family's needs and concerns believable enough that you want to see how things will work out. The story is generally upbeat, but it also has some serious moments that work very well. The structure around the four seasons works well, and it sets up some good material. Overall, Meet Me In St. Louis" is an enjoyable and well-crafted musical.

Director: Vincente Minnelli Watched: May 2018 Rating: 5/10 Told with four coming-of-age vignettes: Introductions. Halloween. Christmas Ball. The 1904 St. Louis World's Fair, Embraces the eponymous city and romanticizes the American family, Lovely costumes, cinematography, and production design, Fun soundtrack- brought us Garland's "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" and "The Trolley Song" But a flimsy plot, underdeveloped characters, and unimpressive acting combine to make this not much more than a forgettable feel-good musical. Gogyohka literally translates to "five-line poem." An alternative to the tanka form, the gogyohka has very simple rules. Five lines with one phrase per line. What comprises a phrase? Eye of the beholder- or the poet, in this case. #Gogyohka #PoemReview #Musical.
