The military normally wouldn't employ the likes of space pirates or other outlaws to fight alongside their drafted soldiers, but with a situation this dire they couldn't afford to be picky. Chiharu is one of the most renown pirates to occupy Human space. For as wary as the soldiers are of trusting someone who should techhnically be their enemy, there's an undeniable charm and wit about her that makes her very likable.
