Speak Japanese! Advice for Learning Japanese!

You want to learn about Japanese.
I keep getting comments from… people like “Why can you speak Japanese?”
What’s wrong with you?
My favorite question is “Was Japanese easy to learn?”
No, it always sounds like I’m making fun of you and it’s probably just because the way that you (??) questions makes me think that you are a lazy person.
So rather than telling you like how to learn Japanese, I’m just going to give you a few pieces of advice for how to improve your language skills.

No1 Make mistakes and don’t be embarrassed to make mistakes.
If you are a beginner, you’re going to make mistakes anyway so just do it.
I would rather have a conversation with someone who responds quickly even if their like sentence isn’t perfect as opposed to someone who takes a really long time to form a sentence because then you start to worry like “Did they understand me?” or “Should I tell them the sentence again?” “Should I ask them the same question?” “Should I speak slower?”

It’s kind of frustrating so don’t be afraid of making mistakes, just throw out words, try to respond.
It might be misunderstandings but I mean that’s how you learn.
If you embarrasse yourself you probably will not make the same mistake twice.
No2 The best way to learn pronunciation is to copy someone and this means a human…human not a character.
Don’t learn pronunciation from cartoons.
Nobody talks like (the voice act?)
So find someone like a real human and try to mimic their pronunciation.

I mean it does feel stupid at first... it feels weird when you’re a foreigner trying to sound like a Japanese person but I think as long as you’re not learning from a cartoon, you’re going to be fine.
And the third tip that I want to mention today is something that I was actually brought up by the user…starsandsea.
So the exactly what I do all the time, too.

When you don’t know word rather than just going "ah..." and awkwardly ending the conversation, what you can do is try to describe it using any other words in your vocabulary and usually sometimes they’ll like find the word for you and say “Oh you’re talking about this" and "I got Yeah I think so totally yeah that that’s it!”
And finally keep practicing it because as long as you keep improving even if it’s little by little, your skill would be better than it was the day before or the week before or the year before.

I would say surrounding yourself with people who challenge themselves or people that are at a higher level than you will make allow for you to push yourself higher as well.
Of course being immersed being in Japan has helped a lot.
If I had stayed in Canada the whole time, I don’t think that I would have improved as much as I have.
