Simple Wedding has the melodramatic storyline of a soap opera, which makes its shaky-cam, mumblecore sensability feel out of place. It relies heavily on the quirks of its characters, who all walk the fine line between charming and obnoxious. I think most of my affection for this just comes from an inherent cultural connection to its large cast of Persian characters. All of this said, it’s still a decently cute film about about relationships, and I can’t pretend it didn’t lighten my mood at least a bit to see.
