聖書には平板地球の上の天蓋に貼りつく星が地上に落下する光景を描写した記述がある。
ヨハネの黙示録/ 06章 12-14節
また、見ていると、小羊が第六の封印を開いた。そのとき、大地震が起きて、太陽は毛の粗い布地のように暗くなり、月は全体が血のようになって、 天の星は地上に落ちた。まるで、いちじくの青い実が、大風に揺さぶられて振り落とされるようだった。 天は巻物が巻き取られるように消え去り、山も島も、みなその場所から移された。
小惑星群
「聖書は無謬」と考える人々は様々な「字義通りの解釈」を試みる。若い地球の創造論者は、地球を直撃する小惑星群のことだと言う。
これに近いのは保守的聖書で、「落ちる天体は隕石」扱いとなっている。
これより前、19世紀には流星雨を見て、人々はイエスの再臨に盛り上がったこともあった。もちろん、再臨などなかったが。
Stars is ἀστέρες [asteres] from which we get the word asteroid. ... The most likely identification of these particular falling stars is that of a great swarm of asteroids that pummel the earth. Such an event has never occurred in historic times, but scientists have long speculated about the probability of either past or future earth catastrophes caused by encountering a swarm of asteroids.[3]

彗星
古い地球の創造論者も、地球に衝突する小惑星か彗星だと言う。
Revelation 6:13-14 is talking about an event yet to come, and as such cannot be proven or disproved from science. In fact the book indicates that the events are not natural, but supernatural. To say that they describe something that is not naturally possible is to state what the book already tells us. Revelation is the book of the Bible, which the apostle John received in a vision. As in many visions given to men by God, the receiver was not always able to explain or understand exactly what he saw. The description of the events are those as perceived by John. The Greek word, astayr, besides being translated "star" can also have the meaning "comet," "meteor" or "asteroid", since there is no Greek word having this meaning. Even our English language refers to meteorites as "falling stars." The description of the "star" Wormwood seems to be that of a large meteorite or comet.
黙示録6章13-14節は未来のことを語っており、科学では証明も否定もできない。黙示録はこれらの出来事が自然現象ではなく超自然だと示唆している。自然に起きえないことを語るのは、黙示録が既に我々に告げていることを述べるためである。黙示録は聖書の書であり、使徒ヨハネが幻視で受け取ったものである。神が与えた多くの幻視と同様に、受け取った者が正しく説明したり理解したりできないことがある。出来事の記述はヨハネが認識したものである。星と訳されているギリシャ語astayrは彗星や隕石をも意味する。というのはギリシャ語にこれらに相当する単語がないからである。英語でも隕石のことを「falling stars」と表現する。ニガヨモギの星の記述は、巨大隕石か彗星の落下のことだとと思われる。

This strange phenomenon (also predicted in Isaiah 34:4) may also relate to the moving cloud of volcanic dust as it is rapidly carried across the sky, but an alternate possibility is that the global earthquake will cause the entire crust of the earth to shift, causing “every mountain and island” to be “moved out of their places” and the sky itself to appear to those on the earth’s surface to be “departing.”

The figure of "stars" is sometimes used to typify "rulers," as in Numbers 24:17, "There shall come a star out of Jacob;" Isaiah 14:13, "I [Lucifer] will exalt my throne above the stars of God." Some have thus been led to find a particular application of this sentence. Stern considers that the falling away of Christian rulers is signified; while many refer it to the overthrew of pagan rulers. ...
