同心球モデルであれ、裏側表面であれ、地球空洞説では、地球内部に海洋を想定することがある。

その世界観と聖書の「地下の水（water under the earth）」という記述は、なんとなく合っているように見える。

Exodus 20:4 - Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

出エジプト記20章4節: あなたはいかなる像も造ってはならない。上は天にあり、下は地にあり、また地の下の水の中にある、いかなるものの形も造ってはならない。
