1. 集団に新たな有害な突然変異が加わると、選択過程により既存の有害な形質が除去される。安定集団の遺伝荷重は２つの形質の間の平衡状態になる。
2. 細菌は動植物よりも、はるかに速く突然変異が起きるが、それでも集団全体としての生存可能性は低下しない。
