Kent Hovindは、そこそこ有名な創造論販売業者である。

Kent E. Hovind (born 15 January 1953) is an American Young Earth Creationist (YEC) evangelist who is currently offering US$250,000 to anyone who can prove evolution "is the only possible way" that the universe and life arose, although his numerous critics consider the challenge to be spurious. The self-styled "Dr. Dino" (whose Ph.D. from an unaccredited university is in Christian Education) established the Creation Science Evangelism ministry in 1989. Hovind now speaks frequently in schools, churches, university debates and on radio and television broadcasts, and is the subject of controversy and public scrutiny.

なお、Dr. Dinoを自称するKent Hovindの学位は、comドメインに存在するPatriot Bible Universityからの宗教学位である。2003年改訂のコロラド州の大学リストには、Patriot Bible Universityの旧称"Patriot University"が載っているので、Diploma millとは言い切れないようだが、comドメインにあるだけで十分に疑わしい。

創造論販売業者Kent Hovindは脱税で2006年に逮捕された。

A Pensacola evangelist was arrested Thursday and indicted in federal court on 58 charges that include income tax evasion, making threats against investigators and filing false complaints against Internal Revenue Service agents. U.S. Magistrate Judge Miles Davis handed down the indictment against Kent Hovind, who operated a creationist theme park Dinosaur Adventure Land, off Old Palafox Road. Hovind’s wife, Jo Hovind, was also indicted on 44 of the counts and appeared in court alongside her husband. Arraignment for the Hovinds is scheduled for2 p.m. Monday. The couple was released pending their trial but are not allowed to travel outside the Northern District of Florida.

2007年1月には懲役10年の地裁判決が出た。

Pay $640,000 in restitution to the Internal Revenue Service.
Pay the prosecution’s court costs of $7,078.
Serve three years parole once he is released from prison.

その後、2009年7月には、Kent Hovindが脱税の罪で服役中に、所有するの創造論テーマパークが、脱税金額回収のために政府により売却可能となった：

A federal judge has cleared the way for the government’s seizure of a creationism theme park in Pensacola.

A ruling this week says the nine properties that make up Dinosaur Adventure Land, and two bank accounts associated with the park will be used to satisfy $430,400 in restitution owed to the federal government.

Kent Hovind, who founded the park and his ministry, Creation Science Evangelism, is serving 10 years in federal prison as a result of a tax-fraud conviction for failing to pay more than $470,000 in employee taxes in a long-running dispute with the Internal Revenue Service.

裁判所の命令の中でも触れられているが、脱税行為のなかで、銀行による記録・報告を逃れるためにStructuringを行っていた：

On July 11, 2006, Kent Hovind was indicted on twelve counts of withholding payroll taxes in violation of 26 U.S.C. § 7202 and one count of obstructing the administration of the internal revenue laws in violation of 26 U.S.C. § 7212(a). Kent and Jo Hovind were also indicted on forty-four counts of structuring transactions in violation of 31 U.S.C. §§5324(a)(3) and 5324(d), 31 C.F.R. § 103.11, and 18 U.S.C. § 2. The indictment sought the forfeiture of all the Hovinds’ real and personal property traceable to the structuring offenses or the forfeiture of substituted property.

"Structuring"とは、口座振替/会議送金で銀行による記録・報告を逃れるために、その基準額以下の金額で複数回に分割して送金すること。米国の主要銀行ではマネーロンダリング対策のためのソフトウェアで、すべての入出金・送金をモニタリングしているため、当然のことながら"疑わしい行為"として検出される。そして、検出されたら、金融機関は規制当局に届け出る義務がある。なので、分割送金によりKent Hovindは自ら、犯罪的な行為をしている証拠＆シグナルを作ったようなもの。
