Ball played Marius Pontmercy in the original production, which quickly transferred to the Palace Theatre in the West End. Ball will play Javert in this special concert production of the musical. (See below for days Michael Ball will not be performing. ) Alfie Boe played Jean Valjean in the musical. Ball and Boe have previously toured the country together on numerous occasions, and have released two number one albums together. Boe has previously performed the role of Jean Valjean in the musical at the Queen's in 2011. (See below for note on Alfie Boe's performance schedule. ) Les Miserables In Concert also featured? Carrie Hope Fletcher, who heads back to where her career began as a child playing Young Eponine in the musical in 2001. She returned to the production in 2013 to play the older version of the character, and will take on the role of Fantine in the show in this concert production. Fletcher recently starred as Veronica in the West End production of Heathers the Musical. Matt Lucas ?also appears in the concert. The Little Britain actor takes on the role of Thénardier in the concert after he played the part at a 25 th anniversary concert of the show in 2010, and then took on the role in the full West End production in 2011. The musical premiered at the Barbican Centre in 1985 directed by Trevor Nunn, and starring Michael Ball, Patti LuPone, Colm Wilkinson and Roger Allam. It then transferred to the Palace Theatre during the same year after sweeping success, and then to the Queen’s Theatre in 2004. The Les Misérables 10th Anniversary album cover Les Misérables: The Dream Cast in Concert is a concert version of Les Misérables, celebrating its 10th anniversary. Information Edit This was a concert version of Les Misérables, performed at the Royal Albert Hall in October 1995, featuring full orchestra and choir. All the parts were sung live, giving the performance a different mood from other recordings. The score was recorded consecutively without pauses or multiple recordings. The concert's encores are also included. As with the original recordings, this edition omitted certain parts; however, they differed from those missing from the original (e. g., those vital to plot, such as " Fantine's Arrest " and " The Runaway Cart, " were kept, albeit shortened, while unnecessary or complex songs, such as " At the Barricade, " were left out). Watch full les misérables: the staged concert video. I don't like Alfie Boe, too operatic for my tastes, and I've never been a fan of Michael Ball so I'll sit this one out. I absolutely lose it when Eponine dies in Marius' arms at the last word. @thebluroommusical I cannot agree with you. I can't say that his voice is weak for Marius, but the teen-pop-rock-idol manner he gives his performance is really irritating. Besides, his diction is horrible, he sounds like English is not his first language and he's been learning the songs by imitating sounds or something. I'm not picking on the guy for having a speech impediment (I don't know if he has) but that's not something I want to hear on the 25th anniversary concert.

I was only a baby when this concert came out, but some of my first memories are of watching this on vhs obsessively and its still my favorite musical, and version of this musical, to this day. Although still can't decide if Come From Away has overtaken Les Mis as my favourite show. But going to see CFA again in 2 weeks so maybe might be able to make up my mind. Watch full les misérables: the staged concert album. I went to this showing at our local Cineworld where they had three screens open. The queues were filling the foyer but we soon got in. The show was brilliant. We really enjoyed it and were glad we had the opportunity to see such talented people. What are some good audition songs for Les Mis. Amazingly i have never seen it! I was thinking of going to see this version but from what you said it might be better that i wait and see the full production? It seems that we are alike in usually going to London on our own for trips so maybe one time we can meet up at a show or something! It would be nice for me not to feel so much like a loner haha! Also cheeky little plug but i'm in charge of TheatreBoard, which i don't know if you have already heard of but great theatre forum for lots of stagey chat with people if you are interested.

London Huffington Post SONDHEIM THEATRE NOW BOOKING TO OCT 2020.I am glad you enjoyed seeing Les Miserables The Staged Concert at the Gielgud Theatre in London and I really enjoyed seeing it on Saturday 5th October 2019 in the matinee afternoon performance and it was amazing and I saw it with Alfie Boe, Michael Ball and Matt Lucas who were all brilliant and it will be doing a Live Cinema broadcast in the UK on Monday 2nd December so I am really looking forward to seeing it again. I adored the film, thought the idea to have them sing live was a really good one (there's nothing more distracted in a musical when you hear the switch on the soundtrack from live dialogue to produced singing - Moulon Rouge is particularly bad, which is a shame because it's a great film. Crowe was a questionable choice, but Hathaway was amazing, totally deserved her Oscar. But, yeah, the film was superb. But there's nothing to beat the live show. I had the great fortune to attend this production. Literally one of the best nights of my life (how often do you see a show get a standing ovation at the intermission.
