Greetings r/Psychonaut community, I've already posted this trip report on this subreddit before. However, under careful consideration - I decided to delete and re-post, in order to add a disclaimer. If you've read this report before, please don't ask why I'm re-posting on the comments section. Please allow new readers to share in on the experience of discussing what they've just read. Thank you so much for your cooperation~! Dear friend, I'd like to share with you my most profound trip report. My first ever spiritual and mystical experience in as much detail as possible. I truly feel experiences like these are worth spreading so that as many people possible can hear about it and decide for themselves if they want to experience it too. There will be a lot of reading involved though, so maybe read this article while you're taking a shit ?. But fear not, I've provided for you plenty of stimulating visuals to assist you in imagining all of the details that are so ineffable. DISCLAIMER: This journey is a true and honest account of my experiences with 7 grams of dried psilocybe cubensis in the winter of 2017. This experience served as the catalyst to conquering my addiction to cocaine and amphetamines; I haven't touched either substance since. Although I've been essentially "cured", I want to also clarify that I believe there is no cure for addiction. You can only manage its symptoms. In preparation for this trip, I had to cut all ties with friends/acquaintances that I associated with stimulants - including my own family doctor. I also took a 2-week sobriety from cocaine and amphetamines before going into the experience. I do not condone the use of illegal substances and if you, on your own volition, choose to ingest these substances - then I encourage you to do as much research as possible and to take safety as a number one priority. Psychedelics are powerful tools that allow you to deactivate the default mode network in your brain, allowing you to rid yourself of old rumination ideologies (ego-death). However, psychedelic use still has risks - and it is not a 'miracle drug', by any means. You still have to put in the work to apply the insights you've learned from the experience into daily life. Please be safe if you choose to traverse through the seas of the psyche. Having said all that, the most vivid stages of this experience have remained intact and embedded in my memory. I can say, with all earnestness, that this experience has catapulted me into a life of self-inquiry and a quest for self-actualization. Preface: Although my life hadn't been entirely organized since I was just getting settled into a new country, the days surrounding this trip's mindset was quite healthy and I was feeling quite optimistic about the present and future (the past is another story). My apartment was organized, clean, and I was tripping alone - save for the exception of my Golden Retriever walking around. best trip-sitter/friend I could ever ask for T - 20:00min: I portion out the dosage of shrooms while I search for a YouTube 8-hour Koto Zen Meditation video on my laptop. It's funny, because I search for this video now and I swear I cannot find it anymore. Either it got deleted from YouTube or.... a glitch in the matrix?... But, anyways, it's basically an 8 hour video of uninterrupted sounds of water trickling down - as if you were in a zen garden. In the distance are the sounds of chirping birds and the vibrating strumming of the Koto: a traditional Japanese string instrument. I was definitely fearful of the amount of shrooms I was about to ingest. I had certainly been through challenging trips before (by challenging, I mean the mixture of cocaine + shrooms type of challenge... worst mistake of my life), so I understood the psychological trauma that can result from an unprepared trip. But I've never taken this many grams in one shot before. No second thoughts now. It's time to dose. I grind the shrooms with my fingers into swallowable portions and I get my Gatorade ready. T + 0:00min: I pinch chunks of the ground up flakes of shrooms into my fingers and - one-by-one - I drop them into my mouth. It's disgusting. I find that the smell is the worst part and is often enough to make me gag... I try to get past this stage quickly. With my Gatorade on hand, I immediately flush down every scoop of shroom-matter I drop into my mouth with one fell swoop. Within 5 minutes, the whole mountain of ground shrooms is gone and I'm left feeling a little light-headed. I let out a burp and wonder what I got myself into. "I should drink the rest of my Gatorade now, before it's too late", I thought to myself. I take one last gulp to swish the liquid around my mouth in an attempt to dislodge shroom shrapnel caught between my teeth. I sit back on my chair and start the YouTube song I prepared. "Pretty zen", I thought to myself. I begin to meditate almost instinctively. And as I sat there feeling like a little Buddha on my swiveling computer chair - I embraced the light-headed feeling. I attempted to rid myself of all negative as soon as my stomach began to churn from the acidic conversion of psilocybin into psilocin, I began to feel pretty disoriented and queasy. I quickly vaped a tiny bowl of weed to combat the nausea and got ready to lie down. "Pretty zen", I thought to myself T + 30:00min: I turned off all the lights including the laptop monitor. It's completely dark because I live in a basement apartment. The only sound heard is the eerie yet peaceful strumming of the Koto. It's about midnight, so all the tenants on the upper floors are asleep and I am left completely undisturbed for this trip. My dog is sleeping silently at the foot hold of my bed. I lay down and cover myself with a blanket and close my eyes. I thought to myself, "This is gonna be it, take me. If I'm gonna die then I'm gonna die". And with that thought passing through me, I splayed my arms out exposing my whole torso - like a submissive dog would show his belly for a rub. A sign of surrender. I lay there feeling a heavy undulating sensation like a carousel going round and round. The feeling of my whole bed floating and spinning in space was paralyzing, yet interactive. There was neither motion sickness nor was there an urge to purge, though. On the contrary, it was a gentle and gyrating sensation that was comforting and soothing - yet ominous in it's own rite. If you've seen Breaking Bad, then you'll remember the scene where Jesse Pinkman goes slowly insane on a instead of a playground, imagine him floating through the vast emptiness of space. If you haven't seen Breaking Bad here's the scene: Pretty disorienting, huh? T+60:00min: I get accustomed to the feeling of zero-gravity with a blank mind; no thoughts, at all. But soon, I feel subcutaneous vibrations all along where I would normally perceive my body to be. My body did not "exist" per se, for I was detached from my physical body. But in this dark lucid space that was tactile and surreal, there was another "body" I had free rein over. This lucid body felt as if it were composed entirely of vibrations. Everything was still completely dark and void of light or colour; as if I were dwelling in a black though, I begin to notice something very faint....... A closed-eye visual? has colour. 's super tiny but extremely vivid, and I can't help but focus in on it. ' attention continues to further zero in on this small, yet inexplicably detailed mirage. I slowly get pulled toward it, slowly.... and then just like that - everything suddenly supercharges to warp speed without any warning. There was no sense of direction, but I could feel the momentum. There was no torque either, like being strapped to a rocket that had never actually launched. I wasn't moving north, south, east, or west, or up, down, forward, or backward.... but I was definitely moving.... and very fuckin' fast. dot I was so focused on earlier quickly zoomed in on all around me, turning my surroundings into something like a Mandelbrot set where I am continuously passing through an infinity of fractal geometry. If you don't know what a Mandelbrot set is please see below: Mandelbrot Set No. 82 "Going down the rabbit hole" is pretty much how I sum this stage up to people who have never tried psychedelics before. The colors were distinctly dark, greenish and very earthy, but I can't be certain because every sense was synthesizing with each other. I suppose this is what synesthesia feels like? Colours had emotions associated with it, while sounds were visual spectacles. If you're not sure what synesthesia is or can't imagine what it might feel like, below is what I feel is a good representation: Imagine seeing this as an emotion or sound and immediately recognizing it as such As I continue to get pulled and stretched through this world of sacred geometry, I suddenly feel the presence of a hand stretching out toward me in my periphery. It tries it's best to apprehend me. It felt like a Wallmaster from Zelda, for all you Nintendo fans out there ?. I remember receiving the distinct feeling that this hand had evil intent and forbade me to enter the realm I was about to dive into next. I managed to ignore it, though. It wasn't difficult to do, since this was the first experience being in the "tunnel" - so often described just before a break-through moment. I was just a dumbstruck fool surfing through the inner realms of the psyche, a simpleton. I didn't know what was going on, even if it had bitten me in the ass. It really did feel like a tunnel though... and now in hindsight, as I am writing this - it really kinda felt something like this only much faster: A simpleton's journey through the psyche T+90:00min: This next part was the breakthrough point. The "other side", so to speak. I had entered a space that I think most psychonauts are familiar with. Words will never do this place justice, but until I find a better name for it (or until I understand this space even a bit more) I'm
That mask is the opposite of serial killer scary, that mask is a meme. Today the disasters beat the masters. Basic Info: Occupation: Assistant Professor Industry: Higher Education Age: 28 Gender: Female Marital Status: Married to husband, H. Location: Rural area outside a mid size city in Texas Assets & Debt: Retirement: I contribute 6. 67% monthly ($360. 21) and my employer contributes 8% ($460. 42) of my salary. My 401K balance is $2461. 89. I also contribute $200 a month post tax to a Roth 403B (balance is $630. 16). My husband contributes to a Roth IRA that currently has a balance of $16, 717. Emergency Fund: $10, 600 (Currently rebuilding after selling & buying a new home and a cross-country move) Stocks: $6750 My husband handles this and I am uninvolved for now. Student Loans: $0 for me (Full merit tuition scholarship for undergrad & parents/summer jobs paid my living expenses; Tuition waiver & living stipends from assistantships/fellowships plus being married funded me through 5 years of my masters & PhD). My husband has $27, 000 left from nursing school. He pays $460 a month to these from his personal account. Car Loan: $310 monthly, $6089 left. We plan to get more aggressive with this and pay it off this year. My husband’s truck is paid off. Other Debt: $1515. 86 for our couch. We needed a new couch when we moved but with all the other moving expenses & selling our old house (we had 2 homes for about 3 weeks) we didn’t want to dip further into our emergency fund and this has no interest. We will pay it off before interest starts. I’m putting about 100 a month towards it right now. Income: Salary: $65, 000 per year (9 month contract) for me and ~83, 000 for my husband, a nurse. He makes more doing overtime shifts and I will add more with summer salary but I used our base amount here. I should be taking a new administrative position that is specific to my skill set that will pay me summer salary, or I might teach an online class for the extra money. Because I receive my 9 month salary over 12 months, this would just be a bonus one time payment for me that we would put straight into savings. Take-Home Paycheck amount: $3971 monthly for me and $1600 weekly for my husband. I put $2400 monthly into our joint account and he puts $850 weekly. My husband and I have both combined & separate accounts. We contribute to a joint account (for me 61% of my take home pay and for him 53% of take home pay). We pay joint living expenses out of our joint account. I put in more% of my income now but he pays his student loans and contributes to our EF from his personal account and has been primarily financially supporting us for about 4 years while I only made about $20, 000 a year in grad school so this setup works for us now. We will adjust as needed in the future as we pay off debt and salaries change. We very much have an attitude of all money belonging to both of us, as this is the attitude that both of our sets of parents had growing up. Medical: $0 my employer pays my entire monthly premium Dental/Vision: $34 a month, pre-tax Monthly Expenses: Joint: Mortgage: $2529. 29 Water: $70 Electric: Varies but around $200 Trash Pick Up: $43 Internet: $135 (we live in a rural community with only satellite as an option and it is pricey) Gym: $140 for both of us at a Crossfit gym Car Insurance $371. 33 Car Wash Monthly Membership: $100 for 2 cars Cell Phone: Get your pitchforks, I’m on my family’s plan and pay them nothing! My husband is on a family plan with his family that he is in charge of and pays $50. From my personal account: RTR Unlimited: $172. 12 Hulu: $5. 99 (I like commercials ? gives me time to get up for snacks) Netflix: $12. 99 DisneyPlus: $0 (free for a year through husband’s Verizon plan) Charitable Giving: $20 a month to support my friend who is a nurse working at a community clinic in DR. I would like to start supporting a church again soon ? the last few years have been an intense faith crisis for me where attending a church wasn’t something I was comfortable with but I have cautiously gotten back into my faith. We have found a church that is LGBTQ affirming, has a woman pastor, teaches progressive theology, and is transparent about finances and their work in the community so once we for sure decide to become members I will begin donating. I also plan to volunteer with them this summer doing summer tutoring for children in public housing. Other giving ad hoc. Day 1 - Monday 5:25am: Awoken by barking as my fearless pups protect me from... a bunny? I don’t know. They persist, and I wonder if my husband didn’t open their doggy door when he left for work, so I get up to let them out. Nope, doggie door fully functional but they would like to use the people door. I point them to their door and head back to bed. 8:00am: Up again at a more reasonable hour. The university is closed today for MLK Day, so I don’t have any set requirements of the day. Play on my phone for a while then get up and brew half a pot of coffee. Have some pastries and yogurt with that, then pull out my laptop to tackle some student emails I didn’t respond to over the weekend. I grade a weekly paper from a master’s student who is doing an independent study with me this semester. I also send my class a reminder that we don’t meet today and a link to “Letter from a Birmingham Jail”, encouraging them to spend some of the time we would have met today reading and reflecting on MLK’s words. I started doing this with all my classes a couple years ago, hoping at least a couple bother with it. I take the time to read it myself, uncomfortable again how much it still rings true in 2020. 10:00am: Clean up a little around the house and make the bed before throwing on jeans, a gray t shirt, a color block open cardigan, and mauve slip on sneakers. No make up and hair in a ponytail but at least wore jeans not leggings since I plan to go into the office for a bit. I stop for gas when I get into town ($31. 98) and then pull through the car wash (included in monthly expenses). My sister in law got me a gift card to a home decor shop for Christmas because H. made us some built-in shelving in the living room but I don’t have enough pretty things to make the shelves look not empty. I end up finding 2 wooden-framed paintings of hydrangeas in the clearance section, a taller vase thing, and a glass container in a cool shape that I’ll get some fake greenery for. A print of snowy trees I saw and liked before Christmas is marked down to $3 so I grab that too for next year. The total was $63 and I pay with the gift card. $31. 98 12:00pm: Head over to campus and almost no one is here. The building is locked so I have to use the video call box to have campus security let me in. After identifying myself they ask if I am a student and I have to correct them that I am faculty. Can’t wait until I’m old enough to appreciate looking a decade younger than I actually am. 2:00pm: Finish up analyses on some data and draft an abstract for a presentation of it. Send it over to my collaborator to look over. I look over my slides for lecture tomorrow so that I’m ready to teach in the morning. I snack on a few things in my office while I work. Run to the department office to make a few copies and then pack up and head out. I see my department chair in the hallway and chat for a few minutes about an upcoming conference we will both be attending. I run by the UPS store on the way home to drop off a prepaid RTR return. 3:00pm: Greet very excited pups. I throw an episode of The Office on while I simultaneously make and eat lunch, unload and reload the dishwasher, and switch over the laundry. We head to the dog park by 3:30. The dogs go to the park for at least an hour every day because they are a very high energy breed. I take them on days H. works and he takes them when he is off. We go together when we can, but the shorter days make it harder in the winter. 5:20pm: Back from the dog park and not enough time to make the 5:30 class at my gym, so I kill time by working on my to-do list for the week and handling more emails before heading out to the gym. Our gym is my most social time of each day, so I usually arrive a little early to chat with friends. Today’s workout starts with some heavy front squats, then we do a Metcon of air squats, burpees, hang snatches, and pull ups. H. gets off work while I’m working out and comes by the gym since it is right by the hospital he works at. He already did the workout at 4:45am (why) but wants to see me suffer. 8:00pm: Home and we both shower and eat leftover spaghetti and meatballs. I have a White Claw after dinner while getting ready for tomorrow: pack my gym bag, pack snacks, prep the coffee maker, lay out my outfit. We are in bed exhausted by 9:30pm. Husband also bought gas today for $49. 12 Day 1 Total: $81. 10 Day 2 ? Tuesday 6:30am: Good morning to a very Monday Tuesday. I dry shampoo and straighten my hair, put on a RTR green Donna Morgan dress with black tights and heeled booties, and full face of make up. This includes: Maybelline Fit Me Foundation, Benefit powder, Milani blush, some old drugstore eye liner, Maybelline mascara, and some eyeshadow from the Naked 3 palette. I have an 8:30 meeting so I’m out the door around 7:30am and get to my office by 8:00am. 11:40am: Meeting led into teaching a class followed by office hours. We are currently interviewing candidates for a new position in our department and we are going to lunch at a local Asian fusion restaurant. We alternate who gets their meals reimbursed, and my turn will be later in the week so I pay for myself this time. $13. 90 3:00pm: Finally back in my office after the candidate’s research presentation followed by grabbing coffee from the little shop in our building with two colleagues (one kindly pays). Time to actually focus on getting some work done! 4:50pm: Head to the gym to make the 5:30pm class with H.! We do a snatch sequence

Every single SCENE in the movie was pure art. a true FEAST FOR THE EYES. I didn’t know anything was wrong until the police arrived. As it turned out, Henry had been missing for twelve hours. His wife had left the front porch light on for his expected late arrival (as usual) and nestled into bed but when she awoke the next morning the sheets beside her were still folded flat. Hallway shouts went unanswered, as did phone calls. There was no truck in the driveway and after a search of the house proved fruitless, she called the police to file a missing person’s report. Our rural town is small (population 2, 723) and because of the far proximity from large cities we have no “team” to rally behind during professional sporting events. So the pillar of the community is, and always has been, the local high school team (Go Cougars! ) where fans arrive in droves to support the kids no matter the sport. Because of this outpouring of support, everyone in town knows Henry. Not only did he attend every game with gloves fashioned to resemble cougar paws but he also had been the school custodian since the Cougars won the championship in 91’. The town adored him. I adored him. So you can imagine my frustration when three sheriff’s deputies made loops around my property while the sheriff, portly and stone-faced as ever, interrogated me about the truck they found across the road from my driveway. “I told you, Henry always parked there so my muddy driveway wouldn’t get his truck dirty. I don’t know why his truck is still there. ” “What do you mean by that? ” The sheriff asked incredulously. “My heating unit was acting up. It made rattling noises and the house smelled like gas sometimes so I needed someone to take a look. You know Henry does odd jobs all over town so I called him and asked him if he would look at it. ” “Did he? ” “I suppose. I wasn’t home. Me and some buddies watched NFL at Hooligan’s until late and before you ask - no, I didn’t drive drunk. ” “So you saw him? ” “No. ” The sheriff grunted and scratched his stubbly chin. “If you never saw him then how did you know he came by? ” “Because Henry left the backdoor unlocked. Oh, and he forgot to lift up the attic ladder. When I came inside the house was freezing. ” “How did he get in? ” “I reminded him where to find the spare key. ” “So you trust him. You two are friends? ” “Absolutely. It may seem strange but I’ve known Henry my whole life. I allowed him to do the same thing the last two times he’s done work at my house, let himself inside my home. Once was to patch up some drywall and the other time he replaced a sink basin in the guest bathroom. I trust him. ” “His last known location - and this is coming from his wife too - is this house. YOUR house. And now he’s vanished. ” I glowered at him and lifted myself from the couch. “Are you saying I’m a suspect? ” “No, ” he said with a trace of laughter (I didn’t believe him). He lifted from the recliner and patted my shoulder. “We’re questioning everyone, part of the job. Did you see his truck when you soberly came home last night? ” “From what your deputy said earlier it was parked near the cattle gate. I came back from Hooligan’s in the other direction. So no, I didn’t see it. Had I seen it, I probably would’ve called you myself. ” “When did you return from the bar? ” “Late last night. Probably midnight or one. ” “If I contact those buddies of yours, the ones from the bar, they’ll corroborate your story? ” “Yes, sir. I hope you do call them. ” He nodded rapidly, an acknowledgement of disbelief about most - if not all - of the things I’d told him. He hitched his belt up under his belly and plodded out of my living room and toward the porch. Before the front door could close on him he caught the knob then poked his head through the threshold. “Before I go, I gotta ask. Do you believe in coincidences? ” I palmed the back of my neck. “Um, I guess so. Why? ” “When did you buy this house? ” “Last summer. Couldn’t pass up on the price. ” He edged a shoulder into the foyer followed by a boot then looped a thumb in his pocket. “When I was a boy, about nine or ten, a little girl in my class went missing. Everyone - and I mean everyone - went out searching for that little girl. They even used hounds at one point but she was never found. Then a few decades later a seventy-year-old woman went missing. Food still in the pantry. Milk still in the fridge. Cash, credit cards, car keys, all in her purse. Poof, just gone. Never found her either. ” “Tragic. Really, it is. But how does that involve me? ” “Because both of those people went missing while they lived in this house. ” There was a hitch in my breath. Cement shoes. Hammering heart. Tunnel vision. The sheriff tossed me a sidelong glance. “And now we have Henry at this house one minute then poof, gone like the other two. So, do you believe in coincidences? ” “Oh, that’s strange, sheriff. I’ll admit. But I have no part in this. Can I give my buddies’ info now? ” My mind reeled as the sheriff returned to his cruiser with the names and numbers of the friends I were with the night before. He was soon followed by the other deputies that had been scouring through pasture and thickets for any trace of the missing custodian. I wanted to join the search - I really did - but despite my factual answers to the sheriff I believed he pinned me a suspect from the get-go. After a few beers to calm my nerves, I dialed my buddies one by one to explain about a possible phone call from authorities only for each to inform me they had already been contacted in the last ten minutes. Panic set in. What started as confusion had morphed into something much worse: I was a suspect in the disappearance of Henry, a beloved figure in our town. Also, there was something troubling me about the sheriff’s anecdote. Not one, but two disappearances had a common thread and I was living in it. I doubt I blinked for the next hour during my online search for any evidence that could prop up what he had told me. That my home was cursed or haunted. That a construction of wood and metal and screws could instigate the disappearance of a human being. I clicked and read and bookmarked any pertinent information. As it turned out, or perhaps because he didn’t know, the sheriff had understated the truth. My research informed me that my home, a ranch-style single story with a vaulted ceiling and two-car garage, had been built in 1964 by a palmy banker. He built it for his wife and family that eventually expanded to include four daughters. I came across a write-up that portrayed them as a wholesome group. Daughters who enjoyed ballet. A homemaker wife who could cook a fierce Thanksgiving turkey. A proud father who enjoyed barbecues and church services. But all that changed when he claimed his bedroom window flashed with celestial light one early morning and upon further inspection he discovered a hole had been burned in the roof. “Lightning, ” the article quoted what the banker said, “I thought it was lightning. ” The following week he left for a three-day business trip. When he returned, his wife and four daughters were gone. Authorities at the time dispelled the notion of murder or kidnapping (they blamed it on a fleeing wife who suffured through a furtive abusive relationship) and they never did any meaningful investigation to support alternative claims. The banker’s body was found the day after the investigation was called off, hanging from a backyard oak. I found several articles dated a few years later about a young girl that went missing while her mother packed outdated Christmas decorations from the attic to be stored in the shed, going back and forth between the two for an hour until the joyous laughter of her daughter became an eerie silence. Gone. Taken right from under her nose by a pervert or some maniac. This was one of the stories the sheriff had told me. I read on, shocked at the words in the newspaper, quotes from grieving family members begging for a safe return that never occurred. Minutes later, I found an article about the elderly woman. The sheriff was not exaggerating: food still in the pantry, milk still in the fridge, cash and credit cards and car keys to an old Volvo were all found in her purse. Poof, the sheriff had said. No wonder the home was at such a low price when I purchased it. Unsolved mysteries tend to bring down real estate value. I remember the realtor giving me the spiel: never had a rodent problem, never had a leaky roof, never had a bug infestation, solid foundation, plenty of space; and it can be yours for such a low price, she told me; be a homeowner, come on, a millennial homeowner is a rarity these days. Her wily speech had worked. I felt stupid. Duped into the purchase of a cursed residence. Strangely, I didn’t believe in the supernatural and had never personally seen a ghost or phantom or one of those floating orbs of light. To me, it was a way to energize tourism. Feast on people’s nightmares. But on that day I was caught up in something unusual. It’s one thing to read about the history but now police were showing up to my home with guileful smirks. Prodding eyes that surveyed for evidence. Skepticism when I spoke. The nightmare was no longer in the past. It was later that day and the loud knocks made me wince. Two deputies stood on my porch, a pair of tall muscleheads that were obviously sent to intimidate. One more look around, they asked, if I would allow it. I had nothing to hide so their request was granted. This circuit around my home was much more in depth than the one around my property and as I followed them around like a lost puppy they upturned containers and leafed through my clothes and ransacked every cabinet. I was annoyed, sure, but felt I was helping the investigation, thinking when they realized I was uninvolved then they could focus their attention elsewhere. “Sir, we’re about done. Do you have a basement or attic? ” “Attic. ” “Mind if Free Online Nocna rodzinka. Free Online Nocna rodzina. The meatballs are AMAZINGGGGGG.I was hoping for an old person who could tap other old people on the shoulder and see them die tomorrow. I’ve worked for an airline at EIA for a number of years now and I’ve come to learn a few things that have changed the way I travel. I want to pass them on to you so you are informed and hopefully the next time you fly, it will be an enjoyable, stress-free experience. Booking a ticket. Regardless of the way you booked your ticket (Expedia/travel agent/airline) please review the itinerary they send you right away with very critical eyes. Most will allow changes/corrections within the first 24 hour for FREE. Some fares that you buy will not allow any changes after that so if you make a mistake, with dates for example, you will be out of luck and have to purchase a new ticket. Check your NAME. Is it spelled right? Is it exactly the way it shows in your Passport or Drivers License? If not, they’ll have to change that. Don’t wait until the airport. That adds time and if you book with one of those cheap ticket websites, they take longer to fix. You run the risk of missing your flight. And when they make the announcement at the gate to check the name on your boarding pass for any errors/nicknames, etc… it. We will not take a delay for a name change. If we can’t get it fixed in time, you will miss your flight. Check the DATES. Did the person you were speaking with get the dates right? Here’s one I see all the time: You want to take the 12:10 am red-eye to Toronto? Your ticket says March 2, for ex. March 2 begins at midnight, one second after March 1 ends. So don’t get up on March 2, have your brekky, start packing, clean the house, drive to the airport, and try to check in for your flight. Because you’ve already missed it. It seems like a no-brainer but I personally had to tell a woman flying to Jamaica for a wedding that she had missed her flight. She wanted to fly out on the red-eye the evening of May 16th. So she booked it for May 16th. She’d already missed it. She needed to book it for May 17th. So please check your dates right away! Is it a connecting flight? Do you have enough time in between to handle any uncertainties? I have seen so many delays that cause people to miss their connecting flights. Every. Damn. Day. Intoxicated people having to be pulled off. Medicals. Mechanical. Deicing. Crew issues. Fog in Vancouver will shut shit down for hours. I know you don’t want to sit in an airport doing nothing, I get that. But it sure beats the anxiety, and then the realization, that you’re going to miss your connecting flight to XYZ. And oh yeah, it’s the only flight out to XYZ that day. You’ll be re-booked for tomorrow. And if it’s a weather related delay, now everyone is getting re-booked onto the next available flights so maybe bye-bye to sitting together. I ALWAYS book a min 4-5 hour between my connection flights. My family was not happy with my last itinerary because I booked a connecting flight with a 7 hour layover. We boarded our flight in Edmonton while Vancouver was experiencing a ground stop because of fog. The flight was delayed for almost 3 hours, then we sat on the plane for another hour. We made our connecting flight to Maui and there was no stress. S**t happens. Be like me. Bring a book. Resend the itinerary to yourself periodically. Let’s say you book a flight 9 months in advance. Every couple of months, log on to the airline website with your reservation code and resend the itinerary to yourself. Are the flight times and your pre-paid seats still the same? Airlines will change aircraft around all the time and if they have to downgrade to a smaller aircraft, you may lose your pre-paid seat selection. If you don’t notice until you show up at the airport, not much we can do. Sometimes you’ll get a notification but not always. Case in point: Expedia. If you book with Expedia and give them your email address and phone number, they almost NEVER transfer that information over to us. When the airline makes a change, we send out notification to the email on file. So we can NEVER let you know. If you book with a discount online vendor, do yourself a favour after and phone the airline you’re using and add that information to your file. Seat Selection. Don’t want to pay extra when you book? No problem. Did you know that you can check in 24 hours ahead of time and choose your seats for free? Please don’t wait until you get to the airport and ask to be seated together. On a sold-out flight, the answer will be NO. Exceptions to this will be people travelling with children, and BASIC fares (basic gets no seat selection). ID requirements. This is a Transport Canada rule that all airlines have to follow. You must have valid, government issued photo ID to travel. If it’s expired, it will be invalid. The airline will deny you, but it’s not the airlines fault. I want to say again that it’s a Transport Canada rule that all airlines have to follow. And since you don’t get notices anymore that your Drivers License is about to expire, most people are quite surprised when I tell them it’s expired. Then you have to scramble to find two other pieces of ID that will work. Keep an eye on it or always travel with your passport and DL. But I didn’t hear the announcement in the Premium lounge!! There are no announcements in the lounges and restaurants. People don’t want to hear that while they’re reading/napping/relaxing/eating. And you probably didn’t know this but boarding announcements/final boarding calls are actually a courtesy and NOT REQUIRED. Headed into the Premium lounge? Set your alarm. Want to take a nap? Set your alarm. Oy! The number of times I’ve heard ‘I fell asleep and missed my flight’. Doors to your flight will close 10 minutes before your flight. This is because the pilot has to give his final passenger numbers to load control for weight & balance. Once a flight is closed at the 10 minute mark there is no opening it again for you. Even if it’s still sitting there. So don’t get mad at the gate agent, they can do nothing. And lastly. If you don’t fly the first leg of your round-trip flight, you will lose the second leg. If you know you’re not going to make that first leg but still want the return, (like maybe something personal has happened and you’ll drive to Vancouver instead), phone the airline and tell them. They will be able to save the second leg. Except if it’s a BASIC fare. You will lose that one entirely. TLDR: Review your itinerary as soon as they send it to you//book longer layovers//seat selection is free 24 hours before your flight//valid ID is a Transport Canada rule//doors close 10 minutes before your flight departs so be there or be 2.
