The Maratha soldiers were unable to get food because of non-cooperation of other empires of Hindustan (India and Pakistan were not separated) and this resulted in having to eat the dead in the battle field to survive. The Afghans were supported by Najib-ud-Daula and Shuja-ud-Daula for the supply of food, and the Maratha had pilgrims along with them, who were unable to fight, including female pilgrims. If Roghunath Rao or Holker was made chief of the Maratha Army, lives of Baji Rao and Sadashivrorao Bhau would have been in jeopardy. I went to watch this film with zero expectations and maybe that was the reason why I liked it.

The story, direction etc. isn't as bad as people are saying it to be. Yes over-glorification of Maratha is there but that was expected. Arjun Kapoor sucked heavily.I mean this dude just doesn't know how to act. Sanjay Dutt didn't speak in accent and that was annoying.
