Si sentono frustrate da una quotidianità soffocante ma hanno grandi piccoli sogni: Guida ambisce a trovare l’amore vero, Euridice sogna di diventare una grande pianista. Il padre decide un giorno di separarle e questo segna in loro un momento di cambiamento; pur lontane non smetteranno però di sperare di potersi riunire un giorno. Dal romanzo di Martha Batalha, Euridice Gusmao che sognava la rivoluzione, il film di Karim Ainouz è una storia di sorellanza davvero forte; al centro due donne allontanate dal fato e da una società maschilista prevaricatrice. Vincitore a Cannes 2019 nella sezione Un certain regard, il film si rifà a tanto di Almodovar per la figura femminile che lotta contro l’indifferenza dei pregiudizi sessisti ed è un’indagine dentro una famiglia patriarcale dove le donne non hanno spazio e devono lottare ogni giorno per conquistare identità e indipendenza. La trama parte dagli anni 50 e getta lo sguardo su un importante momento storico di passaggio, fino ad arrivare ad un oggi ancora accecato da posizioni antiquate e maschiliste della cultura sociale brasiliana. La storia delle due sorelle viene raccontata con non troppa partecipazione sentimentale, quasi lasciando un voluto distacco, perché concentrata sul rigido messaggio politico e anche là dove si spinge in momenti di intimità risulta agre e malinconicamente freddo. Tutto questo è supportato da due interpreti brave e convincenti e da un assetto tecnico davvero efficace: luci soffuse e montaggio in stile quasi documentaristico a tratti. Bravissima anche Fernanda Montenegro ( Central do Brasil) che interpreta un piccolo ma incisivo ruolo: davvero straordinaria in un finale che ci conduce ad una catarsi collettiva, ma senza pietismo gratuito. My biggest turndown with Invisible Life's biggest competition inside Brazil this year ( Bacurau' was the excess of metaphors to make it a smart work. some of which have absolutely no contibution to the story. Still, it was able to provoke a lot of emotional reactions, it's specially smart and meaningful to watch from a Brazilian perspective. Invisible Life is something different, it's universal, delicate and rough at the same time, and it's story has no need to explaining. we all know what it is about. Still, they explain (the only reason why it's not a 100% for me.

Carol Duarte and Julia Stockler are incredible. Also need to mention the short appearance from Brazil's greatest actress of all time, Academy Award nominee Fernanda Montenegro, not only for the name but mostly because, after 120 minutes of the movie, her performance was still able to reach out to the emotions you built for the characters in the past 2 hours. Overall, absolutely beautiful. The film is a visual spectacle, but also a beautiful and touching story.

I'm in shock it was even approved by MPAA to be screened in American cinemas. I guess if it is not explicit female nudity you can show everything without NC17 rating.
Watch Full The Invisible Life of EurÃ?dice GusmÃo.r.e. Cinema Nacional me orgulhando mais uma vez ?. Tirando a Fernanda montinegro o filme e ruim. IM DEADLY SERIOUS gets me every time ???. E, portanto, de uma escrava. Characters are not that much sympathetic and the rythm is slow, everything is on surface and we couldn't delve to the characters and storylines, mostly I think because of lack of brilliant writing and dialogues.

The only character despite the short amount of time was well written and well played was Filomena.

Não consigo olha para o Grogorio e não rir. Só de ter a Fernanda já imagino que o será ótimo assistir a este filme e que, com toda a certeza, os demais profissionais também são excelentes. Espero que chegue aqui no interior do RJ. THE SOUNDTRACK BITCHESSS. Watch full the invisible life of eurydice gusmao. I really Hope parasite wins best picture. It was my favorite film of the year by far. I absolutely loved it ?. The use of comedy in this movie is brilliant.
