STUDIO GHIBLI. YOU ARE BEST. My emotions where all over the place when the Celestials came down on their cloud; It was partly silly, awe inspiring and deep down incredibly sad. The joy and splendour and carefree nature of the beings have kind of a plastic quality to them; they seem to act like more simple emotions like sadness, grief, envy etc are not relevant to them. more like these things are just not in their nature at all ) All the while it are exactly these things ( among others ) that tie Kaguya to earth and to humans. When the blanket was suddenly laid upon Kaguy's back I kind of broke down... it's like they couldn't or wouldn't understand Kaguya at all and why she felt the way she did. At the same time, the humans in the story kind of put Kaguya in a similair decadent situation, which made it all more the sad; SHE JUST WANTED TO BE FREE.
The It's Just Saliva line made me laugh WAAAAY more than it should. The Tale of The Princess Kaguya features beautiful animation, beautiful music and a story that runs too long. Perhaps it's just because I'm not as familiar with Japanese folklore, but I also found it to be a little confusing. My kids weren't very pleased with the ending, either. I'm glad I saw it, but I probably won't be watching it again. This song is so pretty.
