2:24 Almost the same movie, just replacing different super nature elements? Sorry completely disagree. It's an inferior movie in comparison, sure. But saying it's Almost the same movie? You serious? Let's just take a look at a few simple plot points: First, in Your Name the two protagonists are forced into a situation together then start developing feeling for each other. In this movie it's not the case, the boy clearly had something ever since they first met in McDonalds. Second, in this movie the two protagonists actually have interactions and acknowledged they had some relationship before shit hits the fan. Third, the super nature elements: in Your Name the super nature element, or the god of Mitsuha's family Shrine is actually helping Takis ave her and the town from you know what. While the deity in Weathering with You is the source of the problem. And finally, the most difference part, the male protagonist's boss and his role in the story. I could go on into more details, but I think it's clear that saying it's Almost the same movie is not a fair criticism. I am not really that big fan of this movie, I never thought I'd be defending it like this lol. I think it has some structure problem and stupid moment.

Tenki no ko free stream voyage package. I dont know why I had more fun when I had my friends watch this with me lol. Kowakunai wake nai demo tomaranai. I really liked this movie, it was fun and wow was it stunningly beautiful. worth watching just for the visuals, like most shinkai movies. tho I did also get invested in the story and characters this time. the message tho, is equally interesting and baffling. I think it's true that placing the weight of the world and the disasters happening there on individuals, especially teenagers, is just too much to ask. it's unfair. I think there's value in finding the beauty of the world even in difficult times, and in prioritizing yourself over others sometimes. but the climate change allegory is too obvious. even before I had time to think it all over, right in that second when all the adult and old characters unanimously agreed that people are powerless against the weather, it was always crazy and is just going back to its natural state, the whole thing started to make me a little angry. yes I agree placing the responsibility for the weather on two teenagers is unfair and they can't be blamed for being selfish, but the point of that isn't well, guess if those two teenagers won't save everyone let's just accept it as it is, it rather should be actual adults should do something, collectively, to help out those teenagers and take the weight of that responsibility away from them. especially because climate change isn't some cycle, it's not gods being angry, it's actually man-made. there actually ARE real human people who are responsible for it, who work hard to make it happen, who choose profit or convenience over saving the planet, and they're not runaway teenagers who are terribly in love. they're mostly old and rich. and IF makoto shinkai truly is an individualist to the point of believing everyone should prioritize themselves over the collective in any situation, then at least he should have the guts to show the consequences of that. I can respect it if his stance is I'm willing to see other people die or suffer horribly if that is what it takes for me to be happy. it's a strong stance and I don't agree with it, but it's a tough balance act for most people to figure out how much to prioritize themselves or others. but if that really is his opinion, then not showing any suffering as a result from the massive disaster the characters caused with their selfish decisions just feels like a shitty cop-out. don't give me some poetic won't ever see the blue sky again show me the people who drowned, the people who lost their livelihoods, the sick and weak who couldn't get help fast enough during the disaster, and show me the people grieving for them even years after their death. there was the perfect setup there too, with that sick daughter. if she hadn't made it, how would hodaka feel about this then? life goes on isn't a terrible message for a movie about a natural disaster, but if you're not even gonna acknowledge that it doesn't go on for everyone, it kinda feels hollow.
