Tennant asks that Robert link a number of unexplained deaths in Parkersburg, West Virginia to one of the world's largest corporations, DuPont, and gives Robert a large case of videotapes which Robert puts aside. While Robert is actually a corporate defense lawyer and he helps chemical companies pollute without breaking the law, he still visits the Tennants' farm as a gesture of respect and kindness, especially since his grandmother still lives in Parkersburg. When he reaches the farm, Tennant reveals that over the past couple of years, he has lost over 190 cows to strange medical conditions such as bloated organs, black teeth, and huge tumors. At the farm, Robert witnesses the problem first hand when Tennant is forced to put down a tumor-covered cow. Even though he is a defense lawyer who is on very good terms with executives at DuPont, he broaches the subject with DuPont attorney Phil Donnelly (Victor Garber) who politely tells him he is not aware of the specifics but will help out in any way he can. Robert files a small suit so he can gain information through legal discovery of the chemicals that have been dumped on the site. He does not find anything useful, then realizes it is possible that whatever poisoned Tennant's cattle could be something that is not even regulated by the EPA, and so is not listed by the EPA report that he has inquired into. With Tom Terp's reluctant agreement, Robert forces DuPont to turn over all of its information, resulting in angry words between Phil and Robert. In an attempt to hide the truth, DuPont sends Robert hundreds of boxes, hoping to bury the evidence, but Robert goes through the evidence meticulously and finds numerous references to PFOA, a chemical with no references in any medical textbook. Later, in the middle of the night, Robert's pregnant wife Sarah (Anne Hathaway) finds him tearing the carpet off the floors and going through their pans. He tells her they are being poisoned, and she thinks he has gone mad, until he explains what he has found deep in the DuPont documents: perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA-C8) is a man-made chemical also known as Teflon. It was created for army tanks, but then used by companies in American homes for primarily nonstick pans. However, a call from a local resident, the Kigers, reveals that DuPont sent a letter notifying residents of the presence of PFOA, thus starting the statute of limitations and giving any further action only a month to begin. Since PFOA is not regulated, they argue that DuPont is liable because the amount in the water was higher than the one part per billion their internal documents argued to be safe. In court, DuPont claims they did a new study that says that 150 parts per billion is safe. Robert is aghast, and the locals begin protesting DuPont and the story becomes national news. DuPont agrees to settle for 70 million. Legally, they are only required to do medical monitoring if scientists prove that PFOA causes the ailments, so an independent scientific review is set up to study the effects of PFOA. If they find in favor, DuPont will have to pay up. In order to get data for it, the firm tells the locals they can get their settlement money after donating blood, and nearly 70, 000 people donate to the study. Over 7 years pass with no result from the study. Tennant passes away, the Kiger family are harassed locally, and Robert faces extreme financial strain, having worked the entire case on the promise of the settlement and continuing to work on it, having to pay scientific experts. He has taken pay cut upon pay cut at the firm, and things are tense with Sarah. When Tom tells him he needs to take another pay cut, Robert collapses, shaking. At the hospitals, the doctors tell Sarah he had an ischemia, or minor stroke, and that he needs to get on new medication and stop dealing with so much stress. Sarah tells Tom to stop making Robert feel like a failure, since he is doing something for people who needed help. Finally, the scientific review contacts Robert and tells him that PFOA causes multiple cancers and other diseases. At dinner with his family, Robert is informed that DuPont is reneging on the entire agreement. He is angry, saying Tennant told him that there would not be any justice and he did not believe him. Anyone that played the character demo as well probably noticed that the anthro form was completely missing this time around. The reason for this wasn't because I removed it, but because I was unsure of how I wanted it to look like. Back then I pretty much added breasts to her design, changed poses a little and called it a day. For anyone that doesn't remember exactly here's what I'm talking about: Now it wouldn't have been a problem to just do the same thing again and add a chest to the new design (which I was planning on doing) but the new style simply made it feel off. I'm either using the ones I already have to save time and effort OR I redraw all of them from scratch with a completely new design. But yeah, I guess you see where this is going. I wasn't completely sure how I wanted to change the anthro form without diverging from the new style too much, but after trying around for a while I ultimately ended up with this. I wasn't sure if changing the body-type was something I really wanted (I mostly felt like the anthro version wasn't needed) but I wanted to make sure that it feels like Fia actually changes in attempt to mimik what she thinks the Player likes, Sara. to make him "notice her" or even seduce him. It's definitely not perfect, but I will still change some stuff up once I start coloring anyways. So just let me know what you would like to have changed on it if it bothers you! BTW, unlike in the old demo you will have an option to switch Fia's chest off in the anthro version. I'm not sure if I'll do it with ingame decisions or a simple checkbox in the settings, but I think this will make the game more enjoyable for anyone that is bothered by the boobiemon. Now I didn't draw all of the 30ish variations that I need yet since I'm quite slow at getting the sketches just right, but I'm getting there. There's 13 left I need to draw but only 3 of them are actual poses while the rest of them are different expressions of said 3. Once those are done I can start adding clothing to the different poses which will go a lot faster again. Here's a few more previews and a color sample to show the "style" I was going for... I really tried keeping Fia's original/default poses while using her "new" body. I wanted it to look casual while somehow more seductive... I think they turned out fine, but It's for you to decide so let me know what you think. Now on to the next topic, 2. The desert Vixen I already posted a "teaser" for the "character" a while back, so anyone that looked at my older posts might remember this: Mostly referred to as the "Beast Princess" in the story, the idea behind the character was simple. I wanted a character from a book that Fia could identify with so she would end up getting hooked to books/reading in general, but it was also a good filler for one of Fia's dreams that I've got not even nearly enough of yet. In the end, Fia was supposed to dream/mess up dreams like this almost every night. Which still happens, but pretty much isn't shown or talked about inGame... The story of the Beast Princess showed the most basic examples of Fia's usual "dream-ability accidents. She finds something that stays on her mind or excites her in some way which makes her dream about it. Dreaming herself into the role of the princess she relives what happens in the books story while unknowingly dragging people close to her like the Player into the role of the prince. Since the princess mostly uses Fia's graphics with some added clothing there isn't much else to show besides the color sample here, but I thought it was a funny thing to know and the missing sketches from this part of the character sketch demo probably didn't make it a 100% obvious that she was dreaming herself and the player into the main roles. ( Btw, the queen is also played by the Players mother in this part. Even though Fia imagines her with some slight differences:p) Now a thing that I had a problem or two with... 3. Side Characters While drawing side characters in itself isn't a problem, having the motivation to draw them definitely is. Most of them only use one sketch or two for the whole game and will be shown once. Something that makes it quite easy to deal with them and move on to more important things. However, I feel since they're less important I just don't get to drawing them... ? I did a few designs for a few characters, but it never felt "real. Not like characters in a way because I wasn't as invested in them or because I couldn't bother drawing them? A lot of the missing sketches are exactly that. Random people in the background. The daycare lady, coworkers, ruffians, etc... Even the mother which is only halfway a side character didn't quite get to what I want yet. I did get some sketches done but not nearly enough and the quality that I wanted them in. Another point why I'm a bit behind with those is because I'm unsure if I'm even using them. While planning and scripting everything I realized that I wanted to animate the characters. Animating EVERY single of the characters, even the side ones - would probably be only waste time. But putting unanimated characters next to the actual ones would look plain bad, so that's out of the question... What I will probably end up with is animate a few characters that are used a lot, lead a bigger role or "fit" in. But every other character will only be shown on CG's which aren't animated. This way I don't need the extra character sketches and don't need to animate them either. But it also means less for you guys to see in the character sketch demo. So I'm unsure of which ones you'll see in the final Char Sketch Demo, but it's most likely only those three here + Players Mother and the daycare lady... The maid was kind of? a must since she was in the old demo already and I had her sketch ready for a while now. I didn't put her into the first demo since most side characters were missing aswell, but now she's all ready and set up for the next version. Jasmine ? isn't exactly a side character, but since removal of path 2 she's also not THAT important anymore... She's got enough dialogue to be animated and all though. Same for the mother. Lastly the Croagunk from the daycare. Nothing special and only appears for a few textboxes, but I thought it's cute enough and kinda helps the scene. It also won't be too much trouble to animate because of it's size, so here it is! 4. Clothing sketches and variations And as last topic the reason most sketches were missing in the last version, clothing. If you played the Char Sketch Demo you probably saw a few recoloured unfinished sketches, those were the clothing and variation ones. With about 70. 160) of the missing sketches by far the biggest part of what I did the last few days. Adding different clothing and variations to the sketches and replacing them with their recoloured placeholders. From the about 80~ sketches that I have left to draw, about 50 of them are still clothing sketches. (40 of which beeing Anthro Fia's clothing, which is why I have to wait for her new sketches before I can keep drawing those) Posting all of them would probably too much since each oufit has been drawn with a variety of poses aswell. But for everyone interested, I'll add a few variations at the bottom if you don't care about spoilers or anything. 5. Final Word I know this was all kinda messy and all over the place since I'm quite tired and probably should have gotten some sleep now. My work is by no means perfect and I'm still taking forever to get stuff done, but I think I improved a lot if you look back at the stuff I made when I started this not too long ago... When it gets dark get yo ass out the woods or at least inside or close to a cabin and campfire. The night time is there time, they own it. This project is abandoned and its default file will likely not work with the most recent version of Minecraft. Whether this project is out of date or its author has marked it as abandoned, this project is no longer maintained. Dark Waters is a very very alpha plugin that is meant to provide a fun solo, team, or PVP experience to simulate battle on the high seas. Captain ships, find sunken treasure, and use scavenge hooks to pull it up from the seafloor! Current Features Water damage: set the depth, frequency, and amount of damage applied when players try to swim. The waters are evil! Teams: Set the number of teams you want, and assign players to them randomly. Spawns: Every team starts on a different island, with a shipwreck nearby. Hidden in the wreck is a chest with important supplies. Salvage cranes: Build a salvage crane on the land or the ocean, and flip the switch to make it drop its hook. Once it hits a block, it will pull that block up to your waiting hands. Sunken treasure: Every team has several chests of sunken treasure somewhere in the waters around their spawn. Use a salvage crate to pull it up! Magic compass: When holding a certain block (iron, gold, lapis, redstone, diamond) your compass will point to one of your treasures. Planned Features Win condition! There's no way to win right now. Eventually, you will need to place dragon's eggs or some other McGuffin you find your chests within a central structure. Ships! They are almost done. I found Movecraft didn't work quite well enough for my purposes, so I am implementing my own option. Cannons and stuff! I want to add lots of fun stuff you can add to your ships to make combat cool. Play testing! I've barely tested this at all, so it's not fun quite yet. Will need a lot of tweaks and such. And more, as it comes to me. You need to use something like TerrainControl to make islands created. This plugin will probably not really work right with a regular world. It needs a lot of ocean. Also, using Movecraft until I finish my Ship implementation will be a good idea. The goal for this plugin is to make a really fun PVP game that could either go 30 minutes per match or several hours, depending on settings and number of players. I'm trying to get the feeling of the high seas and exploration, and have most of the PVP be fairly indirect, based around finding McGuffins and stealing them from other players. A warning that it is currently very rough, but can be played around with. I would love any feedback for future improvements. Also, this is currently closed source, but I might open source it later. I just haven't thought about it for now. Instructions 1) Put the plugin into your plugins folder. 2) Run the server. 3) Go and edit the newly generated plugins/Dark Waters/ 4) Change anything you want here. All features will be enabled by default. If you want to disable any, change their values to false. More details on every individual keys for the config below. Set up teams: darkwaters teams. worldName] It can be run from a server, as long as you provide a world name. If you don't, it will use the caller's world (so if a player calls it, then it will work without a world. The # is how many teams you want to generate. Currently, you must have at least as many players on your server as you want to generate teams for. Teams will be randomly assigned. When a team is created, their spawn will be put on a random bit of land, and however much treasure is specified in the config will be placed around their spawn on the ocean floor. Create a salvage platform: This must be built physically in the world. You will need: 3 iron blocks, 6 wooden planks, 6 iron bars, 1 redstone torch, 1 lever. The lever must be placed last, or the salvage will not be recognized. There is also an issue with ship collision with salvage platforms, so you'll get a message about your ship being too small. Don't worry on it. Flip the switch to watch the salvage go. It will drop its rope until you flip the switch back or until it pulls a block up. Use the special compass: If you've used the teams command to place treasure, then you can hold either an iron block, a gold block, a redstone block, a lapis block, or a diamond block in your hand. That will update the compass to point to a different one of the sunken treasures. If you're holding a stick, then your compass will point to an opponent's spawn. Water damage: Go for a swim. If the water is deep enough, you'll get damaged. Better use a ship! This is called Dark Waters, after all. More to come! Config values damageAmount: This is how much water damages players when they go for a swim. damageDelay: This is how often, in game ticks, that a swimmer is damaged. Lower is more often. Don't set this too low or you can overload your server. minimumWaterDepthToDamage: This is how deep the water must be to damage the player. distanceBetweenSpawns: The is the minimum distance allowed between different teams' spawns. It also is the radius used for treasure spawning. spawnBeachRadius: The spawn is created with a circular beach. This is the radius of that beach, in blocks. startingChestContents: This is what objects exist in the chest for each spawn. The first number is the data value, the second is the count. boatSchematic: This is what is generated at each spawn. A 0 means air, an S means sand, an F means fence, a W means wood, a C means chest (will be filled with the starting chest contents) an N means nether fence, and a G means glass. DEPRECATED boatSchematicCols: This is how many columns are in the boat schematic. If you edit the schematic, this must match. DEPRECATED boatSchematicRows: This is how many rows are in the boat schematic. DEPRECATED compassPointingDelay: How long in milliseconds between updates of the compass. You can generally make this pretty high values (even up to 1000) and it will still feel fine for the player. Beware very low values, which can overload your server. compassMinRadius: The minimum radius in blocks the compass will point to. This means, you must be this far away from a treasure to have the compass point to it. A 0 means that it can point from any closeness. compassMaxRadius: The maximum radius in blocks the compass will point to. This means that you must be closer to a treasure than this value to have the compass point to it. Make sure this value is sufficiently high based on your spawn radius. treasurePerTeam: An array of objects. value is the number of dragon eggs that exist in that chest. compassMaterial is the type of block you must hold to point your compass to this treasure. minimumDepth is the depth in the ocean that this treasure will be spawned. It will bore a hole to get that deep. Make sure not to exceed the value of your sea level, or you can end up going below the world. compassEnabled: You can set this to false to not use the compass. shipsEnabled: You can set this to false to not use the ships. treasureEnabled: You can set this to false to not spawn treasure. waterDamageEnabled: You can set this to false to not damage swimmers. salvageEnabled: You can set this to false to not allow salvage platforms.
