Yeah- I spent most of my life in a city near beaches- but almost 10 years between in upstate NY- There are plenty of places you can have access to sand- crap, all you really need is to be remotely near where they store the sand and salt for winters. Since places will sometimes sand without salting, and salt without sanding depending on the weather- the heaping mountains are large and separate. And there are plenty of places you can get sand if you're near mountains. Sand is crumbled rocks basically- that's all it is. And I've known way too many people with silos, for corn, grain, whatever- the danger of them, dropping what they store in, and it being already in and just there is very real. Didn't even occur to me to think much of either of those. Ditto to the Why didn't they live at the waterfall- they're amazing, but for all the reasons you say it would be a bad decision, limited view, your own hearing being overpowered by it. Even if the aliens don't hear you, they're clearly EVERYWHERE, you don't hear them ruffling around you can walk past a tree and just step on one I'm sure. I babysat kids who lived in a house that was powered by a little dam. Tiny compared to what people think, but it was sizable as just something to stand next to. The controls to manually open the flood gates was in the basement, and I was stressed every time I was with them during a storm 'cause I had to go down stairs to read dials to be able to open them wide in the rare case there was too much pressure. There was water for that (not sure how it really worked) that flowed literally under the house. You could lift up a wooden hatch cover and see the water rushing under. It was absurd. and likely stupidly dangerous. that said however- even on calm days it was pretty loud. The water for the dam did go over the top constantly, not just through the turbines that powered the electric for a few places. It didn't spray water all over the place 'cause it was a dam and it was controlled- however, stand next to it for any amount of time and walk away- and your hearing felt. numb? Sounds acted differently for a bit, it's hard to explain because it wasn't that the actual inner ear felt numb, it's just that the sounds seemed more muffled than usual for a bit. So living near an actual waterfall? With a real drop, not just sliding down a wall designed for water to spill over it in a slide like manor? When sound in every way imaginable is the difference of life and death? Just- didn't even occur to me as a viable option to relocate to- especially with kids. Then you have to worry about murder sound monsters and kids drowning. If one fell in and needed help not under the waterfall? Everyone getting to the kid is just dead...

The follow-up to the 2018 hit A Quiet Place was due to launch globally from 18 March but director John Krasinski announced on Thursday on Instagram that it would be moving to an as-yet-unspecified date. “One of the things I’m most proud of is that people have said our movie is one you have to see all together, ” he wrote. “Well due to the ever-changing circumstances of what’s going on in the world around us, now is clearly not the right time to do that. As insanely excited as we are for you all to see this movie … I’m gonna wait to release the film until we CAN see it together! So here’s to our group movie date! The announcement follows on from word that Fast & Furious 9 will move from May this year to April 2021 while the Bond thriller No Time to Die, romantic comedy The Lovebirds and kids sequel Peter Rabbit 2 have both abandoned their upcoming dates. Cinemas across the globe have been shutting out of fears of spreading the virus further, including all screens in Italy and China. While cinemas across the US remain open, a survey this week showed that 38% of American adults would support nationwide closures. The same report also showed that 21% of respondents signed up for a streaming service since January partly because of the coronavirus. Last weekend saw underwhelming returns for Disney and Pixar’s new adventure Onward. Disney has yet to alter plans to release its live-action remake of Mulan on 27 March although, with a $200m budget, the film will rely heavily on international box office to make a profit. It’s estimated that the pandemic will have a $5bn impact on the global box office.
