It is a hero's journey of a son trying to find his father in that grief-stricken landscape and the characters stand in for the millions of immigrants, legal and illegal, who contribute in their everyday lives, to the American landscape. The film seeks to counter the narrative that's all-too-prevalent in today's political and media landscape by telling a story set in America's biggest and most diverse city, at its darkest time. The script by playwright and novelist Robert Mailer Anderson (who also produced the film) is wise and completely engaging; he creates indelible characters who are ultimately inspiring and uplifting. Edward James Olmos gives what he considers to be the performance of a lifetime, and the rest of the cast is terrific as well-with a special shout-out to Glynn Turman. The direction, by Olmos's son Michael, is sure-handed, getting terrific performances from his cast, including his father, in this father-son story, and it's beautifully lensed. The music, including jazz and a title track written by Anderson, is pitch-perfect, supporting the story without getting in the way. This film should be seen by everybody-and I'm sure it will be in mainstream distribution soon, as this is a time when, although the major studios may have turned their backs on substance, terrific indie films like this one have many other possible venues. If you can't see it at a film festival, like I did, keep a keen eye out for it. Terrific and inspiring.

Alright, Netflix is awesome! It’s so easy to stream movies, TV shows, interactive games, and more all accessible through Netflix! The only thing that I could think of to improve this app is another section. So far there is kids and adult. But what about teens like me? Kids has a TON of cartoons and kiddy shows. Don’t get me wrong, I love cartoons as much as the next person, I just want something a bit more adventurous. The adult version has a wide variety of movies, but a lot of them are inappropriate for teens like me. If you could add a teen version, where the more appropriate movies are, that would be lovely! The movies, (no matter the rating) should be good for young audiences. This means the movies should be rated for cussing. None of the movies should have naughty things. (passionate hugging/kissing, and you know, anything that's an inappropriate display of affection) but some cussing could be allowed since in college and high school, there aren't many child-friendly peers there sadly. Another suggestion would be to (forgive me if you already have this) add a feature (free or not, your choice) where if you're watching a movie and leave the app, you can still see a small box of the screen in the corner. The box should be moveable, this way you can surf the sea of neverending emails while binging your favorite show on the wonderful app, Netflix. We need more sections. Let me start off by saying that this is an amazing movie app and you should get it. But are you people aware of all the people using Netflix? There are toddlers, preteens, teens, young adults, adults, whatever you call people a little to old to have kids, elderly people, and very elderly people. We need more sections!!! Toddlers and kids are grouped together, but preteens and teens need their own section, too. No kiddy shows but maybe a couple cartoons teenagers like, and the movies and shows should have cussing but not out of control cussing, and no to-bad words. The private accounts are good for adults, but I’m your account you should JUST get to pick if you are a toddler, kid, preteen, teen, young adult, adult, person who are a little to old to have kids if there is a name for that, elderly person, or very elderly person. The a little to old to have kids people should be able to watch the adults section, but the elderly people and the very elderly people should have a channel without kiddy stuff and shows with little cussing. You should also be able to change your age, because over time you grow or might have a child or etc. watching on your device. Everything works beautifully and it’s easy to search for what you’re looking for and the list of saved shows is fine too. My big issue, however, is with the currently watching area on the tv app, phone app, and website. Sure there are tons (and I mean TONS) of articles all over the web giving instructions on how to remove shows from the currently watching section that you no longer want to view, but Netflix it’s your job to provide an easier method for doing this. It’s unrealistic to expect people to go into their history and delete a millions episodes of a show just to get to the movies and whatever other shows they need to remove from that section. Just allow a space on the titles to remove them from that area. Especially for shows or movies that you try out and end up not liking. They stay there for months! Also, the app on tv plays the show or movie just when you’re trying to read the info about it and guess what?? That also adds that title to currently watching! Fix this issue please! It’s 2020! Windows on the world wide. 28 yrs ago today in 1991 i lost my grandma to cancer and 10 yrs later in 2001 one of the the greatest tragedies ive seen in my life time happened on this day as well. 18 yrs ago i was a 15 yr old junior in high school, I remember watching this live at school. Very gut wrenching and heartbreaking. As a teen i was thinking, if this was going to b my end i would want to die with my mother and siblings. And then a half hr later my mom came to pick me up and said the same thing i was thinking. 18 yrs later, now a mother myself as i show my children the videos and pictures that i have, and seeing the horror in their faces makes me feel like that 15 yr old scared girl all over again. Today is a time to remember and celebrate those lost and to to reflect on our past, present and future. Teach ur children to love and not hate.
