When Jack meets the former custodian of the hotel, things begin to get really nasty.

I first saw this movie at my X's house and after that I really loved it. I was hooked. Even though the book was better I still thought the movie was fantatically eerie. I liked the thought of a family of three being a lone in this haunted hotel in the mountains and the husband goes berzerk. That was allt he more scary. I loved the blood coming out of the elevator and Jack Nicholson does a wonderful job in this film. This is on of Stanley Kubricks' best yet.

I just came back from driving on this road! at least for the first part of this intro. check out st Mary's lake near glacier national park in montana. this is the place in the beginning! as I was driving, this music was playing in my head. now I am staying at a hotel... I hope nothing bad happens to me. Jack Nicholson is great at playing disturbed, psychotic, and mentally unstable characters, as well as other comedic and serious roles over a 60 year career! It's unfortunate that he has officially retired from acting as of recently! He has been one of my favourite older actors for many years (along with Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Clint Eastwood) I wish him the best in retirement.
The shining star. Saw is a game. They dont make movies like this anymore. As if its Theater and the actors are running around on the stage an there just so happens to be a camera there. Now its all set shots, pans, and placements. Krubrick really was the end of that era. Sure he set the scenes like they were. But his unusual shot placements and styles led a new generation in a new direction.
The shinning. 2:03 scariest part of the whole movie. I can eat while watching this. Personally, I am so glad that had acknowledged that author Stephen King is definitely NOT a fan of the Stanley Kubrick film version of The Shining. But I am sure that NOT ALL people were fans of the film as well. I know that the moments in the 1980 film were scary, but they were not what Mr. King had envisioned in his novel. I also find it so sad that Kubrick NEVER apologized for having made the movie as a way of turning his back on Mr. King and presented an alternative horror film that suited only Kubrick. I absolutely love Duvalls performance here. But I still feel bad for the fact she was bullied through production.
I was going to watch the entire movie just for this scene. Welp

I like how the doll laugh. “Well, its been a long trip, but were almost there.” “Homer, did you remember to lock the front door?” “Doh!” ???????????????? “Well, its been two long trips, but were finally almost there again.” “When you locked the front door, did you remember to lock the back door?” “Doh doh!” ???????????????? “Oh no! We left Grampa back at the gas station!” “. ” “What about Grampa?”. I have many problems with the movie. First of all maybe the high rating made me over-expecting what I was going to see and I haven't read the book ; But never mind. The story doesn't make sense to me : Is he crazy and hallucinating ? or there were real ghosts back there in the hotel ? who the hell opened the door for him if he was hallucinating. who were those Shelley Duvall ( Wendy ) saw in the hotel rooms ? Dead people ? if yes who killed them ? Jack. or they were ghosts and she was shocked. So many other things which are unexplainable to me. br> But on the other hand I found that Jack Nicholson's Performance was really remarkable. It was the main thing I liked about the movie. The Music was good, The camera work was very good

The story telling really needed to be done better. As a horror film, I can say this movie is barely good.The shining imdb. The shiying. The shining author. Finally got around to seeing this movie yesterday. It's fantastic. I usually don't like old horror movies. Halloween bored me to death. But this one was so good, even if it could have been scarier. This opening really sets the tone for the isolation and seclusion of the movie. I love that doctor sleep moive... Stephen king did his thang. The shining cast. I :cupid. The shining hotel.
