I've known grace vanderwall a year ago i guess, at that time there was some talk about her movie StarGirl and now after watching the trailer, i realize how much Disney succeeded in choosing grace for this role, she's just a talented teen with a special voice, go to her youtube channel and listen to her she's kind of the new Taylor Swift. Avatar 2: Too early to decide but from knowing nothing else but the title, I'd say it manages to at least cross Jurassic World's $1. 6B. Godzilla v Kong: This film will be very interesting to see as I feel this could do very well. If Godzilla: King of the Monsters does well next year and gets people hyped for this film, I can actually see a future where Godzilla v Kong crosses the $1B. Minions 2: Will probably reach $1B as well. Kids love minions even though they have become despicable over the last few years. Despicable Me 3 quietly grossed $1B in 2018 so I expect Minions 2 to do the same. Indiana Jones 5: This could go either way. I feel however that everyone will be willing to give Spielberg, Lucas and Ford another go since Kingdom of the Crystal Skull came out over 10 years ago. I'd say it will perform lower than its predecessor with around $650M. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: Fresh of the heels of Avengers 4, I do expect this film to be the next $1B MCU film as it will no doubt gain a massive boost after their appearances in the two Thanos films. Doctor Strange 2: Similarly to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, I expect a great box office boost after the two Avengers films Cumberbatch stars in, as he was one of the favourites (mine specifically) coming out of Infinity War. With the possibility of Scarlet Witch appearing a supporting role, I can see Doctor Strange 2 cross $800M which has become the standard for MCU flicks. Black Widow: In contrast to the other two MCU films, Black Widow probably has had a decrease in popularity over the years and will certainly continue as female characters like Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Wasp and Okoye take the front stage, but I feel like audiences will be willing to watch Scarlett Johansson in a relatively low-budget spy thriller. If that is the case, I can see the film performing on-par with Captain America: The Winter Soldier with north of $700M. Everything else, I'm not sure.
I would perceive that to imply perhaps they're not banking on the film being as successful with critics or the public as the first film (64% Rotten Tomatoes, 51 Metacritic | 56% RT Audience, A- Cinemascore, 6. 5 IMDB). The sequel must be a stinker if it will barely have a week to thrive before Easter passes, and the general public returns to a normal level of rabbit interest. Considering the Easter release proximity, there's no way the general public won't make the association, "bunnies = Easter, Peter Rabbit 2 = Easter film". To note, the first film, "Peter Rabbit" (2018) made $115 million domestic / $351 million worldwide, off a $50 million production budget. Regardless, if as expected, it is a bad egg, I predict a $25 million opening (in line with the first film). Boding a healthy decline or possible hold for Easter weekend, I predict it will finish with $72 million in its domestic basket (-37%, a fair 2. 8 multiplier). $190 million worldwide (-46%). That worldwide total would put it just a bit of a jump above 2011's "Hop" ($183 million). However, if the film is an acclaimed breed, I predict a $28 million domestic start (+12%), and a hopping domestic close to $101 million (-12%). The worldwide finish should land around $242 million (-31%). Considering the competition, there's just no way I see the film matching the incredibly healthy total the first film had, worldwide. The parenthesis for my predictions indicate the sequel's activity compared to the first film. The novelty of being based off Beatrix Potter's beloved works will have waned. Audiences now know exactly what brand this franchise is (loud, zany, crude, pop-culture filled, and very much like the titular character's voice actor, James Corden. ) And while he may be a fairly popular talk show host, that branding in a film length may shrink from the broad appeal of the first, to a very specific niche appeal with the Easter release to the film. Plus, there were some who found the first film to be distasteful/tainting of Beatrix Potter's otherwise "pure" work. What with the MPAA rating of "rude humor" including a comical scene of vegetable sodomy, and several several references to animal nudity/genitalia, and nipples. And then the "action" having included a silhouetted death of a rabbit for onscreen prep and consumption of a rabbit meat, a (media controversy, that allegedly lead to "boycotts") scene of an allergic reaction played for laughs, and an onscreen death from a heart attack pivoted as a device for villain defeat.
