I watched the movie 5 years after it was released, and I'm glad that I had. I wouldn't have understood a thing I watched it back in my childhood. I can't say that I totally understood it until my 20's since it's a critique for the relations between genders. Lots of analysis's are being made throughout the movie which are pretty accurate for both sides. Funny thing is that there really is no such thing like friendship after sex -or even after breaking up. Meg Ryan and -especially- Billy Crystal are at the peak of their performances during the movie, and I must say Meg is a little overpowered by Billy's style and talent. Meg keeps a flat line of act but it would be wrong to say that she effected the film in a negative manner. Quite the contrary actually. And the lenses used during the shots, takes the movie one step higher than its competitors. The autumn shots actually shot me more than the movie itself. Totally romance and this movie is one of the best romantic comedy ever shot.

I love romantic comedies that are based on normal lives and not these over-sexed, gross, no-story comedies we keep seeing. I love this movie. It is very funny, with some inspired characters and quotable lines. It has a terrific message about living your life without fear. Few other people I have met liked it, and I can think of two reasons. One, they don't want to admit that they like a Billy Crystal -Meg Ryan movie, even though this one is more idiosyncratic than the others. Another great film is Sleepless in Seattle.

The bells would ring like my 9 kroner network coming alive. It's Gary as Harry and 'Carolyn' as Sally back in1989 as the only members of a bookclub. There are three acts each ending with them: First paired in separate beds critiqueing Moby Dick with the punchline 'You're telling me that he would rather be whaling then catching a little tale at home? ' Then at Barnes&Noble she overpowers him and lays a big one on him to coup the only copy of 'Marriage for Dummies'. Lastly at a stylish café in Florence they celebrate with coffee and cake as honeymooners just finishing their copies of 'In The Name of the Rose'.
