El mensaje que deja la película (que no es malo, eso lo reconozco) se ve apocado por una construcción ridícula de la historia. Yo me quedé esperando más, esperando quizás algún final que haga que ese mensaje cobre fuerza. Hay gente a la cual le gustó, así que diría que la mires y saques tus conclusiones. Nada más un consejo que ya escribieron varios: no la mires pensando que es una película de terror.

Aiden está convencido de que Grace es una psicópata. Investiga en los archivos de su padre periodista y encuentra que la mujer es una sobreviviente de un suicidio masivo ocurrido cuando tenía 12 años e impulsado por su propio papá, líder de una secta cristiana. Aunque parece que ha superado el trauma, cuando llegan a la cabaña es evidente que Grace necesita de varios medicamentos para mantenerse equilibrada. Sin apenas hablarse, la tensión entre los futuros madrastra e hijastros se vuelve cada vez más intolerable conforme avanzan las horas solos, ella tratando de acercarse a los chicos y ellos encerrándose en su coraza de rechazo. La fotografía de Thimios Bakatakis ( El sacrificio del ciervo sagrado) y el diseño de producción de Sylvain Lemaitre se vuelven en este punto elementos fundamentales de la narrativa, con el contraste entre el inhóspito y cegador paisaje nevado exterior y el interior penumbroso que parece implicar cuestiones sobrenaturales. Cuando se desata una tormenta de nieve y una mañana desaparecen todas las cosas de la casa, incluyendo comida, medicamentos, ropa abrigadora e incluso se corta la energía y los celulares se quedan sin carga, la relación entre la mujer y los chicos añade un cariz de desconfianza. Los cineastas mantienen las interacciones entre los personajes al mínimo, pero recargan las sensaciones de sofoco y confinamiento manteniendo la estaticidad de la cámara y la lentitud de sus movimientos. Keough, quien desde el principio había dado claves de la inestabilidad mental de su personaje, sobre todo a partir de sus alucinaciones oníricas, los va acentuando poco a poco hasta llevarlos al extremo de forma convincente. Li y McHugh, por su parte, hacen lo suyo con una contundencia que acentúa su brutalidad al tratarse de niños y al ubicar la historia en víspera de Navidad. Y a pesar de que los giros de la trama son evidentes, resultan interesantes y sorpresivos. Sin embargo, los cineastas recurren a artilugios que se vuelven distractores innecesarios. Esas tomas a la casa de muñecas o esa recurrencia a mostrar el cuadro de la pared, lejos de acentuar la inestabilidad de Grace hacen que el filme parezca de un subgénero del terror que aquí no aparece. Pero mantienen la sobriedad, no se apresuran y se apoyan en tres actuaciones convincentes para hacer una historia sobre rencor, venganza, odio, enajenación, intolerancia, violencia y fanatismo. Y, sobre todo, de las consecuencias de una maternidad y una paternidad traumatizantes que nada tienen que ver con Grace ni Richard. A veces quien supuestamente debe ser un protector acaba por ser lo contrario. Ok :3 Me gustó la primera parte, la considero un tipo de universo alterno xd Tengo altas expectativas de esta segunda parte :D. La música es parecida a Us. si me llama la tencion. También subí mi reseña, dulces sueños mamá me encanta, solo que ahora hubo otro escritor, tal vez eso pudo fallar, yo encontré más analogías, la pérdida de un ser (La mamá) la ruptura de una familia ya desmoronándose, la falsedad de la navidad, en esa fecha todos quieren arrepentirse, perdonar, llevar la fiesta en paz, y claro, el fanatismo religioso, me encantó el diseño de producción, la fotografía, y claro, la música es brutal, creo que más que terror, es horror, me pareció una buena película, con buena dirección, me recordó a babadook, el bebé de rose mary, get out, hereditary claro como lo dijiste, los directores les gusta estar ambientados en lugares lejanos, te mando un abrazo y nos ponemos de acuerdo por instagram.

Majority of the film I really enjoyed. But then it just became really stupid. It made no sense whatsoever!

What the kids did to that poor woman was shocking! Basically it's a film where two kids push a woman into a psychotic break. That's not scary, it's annoying. I was happy with the very end. En realidad la mujer de blanco es la mala. I attended the east coast premiere of "The Lodge" a few weeks ago and can say it will most likely be 2020's most polarizing and divisive horror release. If you've seen Franz & Fiala's last film, Goodnight Mommy, you'll have an idea of what to expect in terms of tone and themes. The cinematography is breathtaking, and Riley Keough's performance is unbelievable. Like "Mommy" the central characters are two siblings who are up against some sort of unknown/unstable maternal presence while existing in isolation. Instead of a vast, lonely European farm, The Lodge" features exactly what the title suggests. a mountain lodge in the middle of nowhere. It's so well done that you can almost feel the icy frost in the theater as the film progresses. Franz & Fiala take a lot of cues from Ari Aster, ESPECIALLY "Midsommar, in depicting sudden tragedy and brutal, existential grief that consistently drips off the screen. Additionally, there are underlying themes of mental illness and psychosis that are done really well and tactfully. although I might add it may not seem so at first. Sorry if that's cryptic, I just don't want to give any spoilers. The ending will knock you on your ass. I couldn't move after the screening, I was frozen for half the credit roll, and couldn't stop thinking about it for days. I highly recommend "The Lodge" for fans of Aster's work, or if you liked "Goodnight Mommy" and want more of the same slow-burn insanity.

Just saw this at the Fantasia Film Festival and gotta say I regretted staying to the end. The first half was absolutely promising with an eerie atmosphere but once the hugely illogical story-line comes into play, I was praying for a brilliant twist at the end to explain all my questions. Suffice it to say, the twist was moronic and hugely unsatisfying. Acting, especially from Riley, was quite strong and poor Alicia Silverstone must be desperate for cash these days as her bit role was completely throwaway and required very little from her.

Yet another disappointment from the half-baked faux-goth bro-sis team. Let's hope this is their last film.

This movie was amazing! It was emotional, scary and unsetteling. It had a claustrophobic feeling. It was a slow pace but I never felt bored. The acting was really good. Just everything was right. At the end of the movie you see how psycho people can get.
