February 7, 2020 Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase THE LAND BENEATH US (Sunrise at Normandy Book #3) by Sarah Sundin is Compelling! I highly recommend this book and the entire series. This book needs to be read in sequential order to fully appreciate and understand all of family dynamics that are mentioned and dealt with in this book. This is Private Clay Paxton’s account of training with the US Army Rangers at Camp Forest, TN and follows his journey for more training in England and then on to France and his date with destiny at D-Day. Clay has a deep sense that God has a specific plan of sacrifice for him while he’s serving in the War. He is at complete peace as he heads off into battle. While in TN, he meets Leah Jones, who is working in the library at Camp Forest. Leah has not had an easy life but against all odds is taking advantage of all available opportunities to better herself. She is like a sponge, absorbing something from everyone and quickly to differentiate between good and bad. One thing she’s known about all her life is bullying. These two young people are brought together when Clay saves Leah’s life by rescuing her during a brutal sexual attack. There lives will be forever changed from that moment on. Sundin is a consummate researcher as is evidenced in each of her books. Her detailed descriptions of people, places and things are exquisite! Sundin has the ability to make readers feel as though they are active participants in the story. We see the action, feel the pain, taste the salt from the tears running down our face, feel the emotional stress, feel the heartache, feel the fear as well as feel the love and feel the bliss. Sundin covers it all! Themes covered in THE LAND BENEATH US are: good v. evil, dysfunctional families, abandoned children, orphanages, war training, war, home front during the war, deep personal friendships that last a lifetime, faith that grows immeasurably and the discovery that LOVE NEVER FAILS. February 5, 2020 Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase The Land Beneath Us is the third in the Sunrise on Normandy series. As much as I enjoyed books one and two, The Land Beneath Us is my favorite of the three. "Meeting" the brothers' parents brought much to the story, and now I see the reason behind the brothers' chivalry, generosity, and love for God. In this book, Clay Paxton, the youngest Paxton brother, is a Ranger in Tennessee training for D-Day. He meets Leah Jones, who is working as a library assistant on base. Although Clay is only 22 and Leah 18, they both have a spiritual maturity about them. Leah, in spite of the terrible things that have happened, always sees at least one good thing in each situation. Clay is inspired by her strong, resilient spirit. My favorite parts of the story are many. Clay begged Leah to marry him. He took joy in providing for an orphan who was attacked. It was a blessing to read of Clay and Leah's spiritual lives. They were not ashamed of their faith, and their faith made a difference in how they lived each day. It was a delight to watch Clay and Leah growing and helping each other grow throughout the story. You will need to read the book to fully appreciate their growth. The historical details of the story were fascinating. I did not realize the Rangers underwent such rigorous training and that they were a vital part of Operation Overlord. I also appreciated Leah's homemaking skills and how she kept a cheerful attitude even though her husband was overseas and in great danger. I highly recommend this story and also recommend that you read The Sea Before Us and The Sky Above Us first. The book was excellent, and I finished it in a day. Now I am listening and reading it over again. I am sure that I will be reading this book at least once a year for many years to come. February 9, 2020 Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase After reading the first two Sunrise at Normandy books, I was thoroughly interested in the conclusion. I couldn't imagine how Clay's experiences would shape his story. I suppose it is good that I entered the world of Clay and Leah without preconceived notions, as they surely would have been shattered. Wyatt and Adler in the role of the prodigal sons, as firmly established in the first two books of the series, leave Clay as the loyal son who has to deal with the condition of his heart as the brother of the prodigals. And yet, Leah's presence expands his character by merit of discovering her own. The author's knowledge and extensive research pair with a passion for respecting and honoring the brave men and women who gave so thoroughly of themselves to fight for what is right, in this case, the invasion of Normandy. This great care elevates an excellent story about the individuals to an even greater one that makes the very real sacrifice relatable. February 8, 2020 Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase Yes there were trenches, rat-a-tat-tat machine guns, huge bombs digging equally huge craters in the soil of France at Pointe du Hoc, but this WWII novel by Sarah Sundin is way more than a war story. It's also about family, forgiveness, undeserved mercy, and liberally dispensed without being the least bit preachy. The character arcs of the hero and heroine immediately grab the sympathies of the reader as does the story line. While I own and have loved most of Sarah Sundin's books, this reviewer believes The Land Beneath Us (Sunrise at Normandy Book #3) far and away surpasses her other books. This is an exquisitely written book about an incredibly difficult time in modern history. This reviewer whole heartedly recommends The Land Beneath Us. I didn't feel like there were enough fist bumps in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw to make it a credible addition to the franchise.

Beneath Us is a socially relevant horror tale that explores racism and the plights of undocumented LatinX workers. Watch the exclusive trailer! ScreenRant has the exclusive trailer for? Beneath Us,?a 2020 original social horror story driven by the LatinX community that spotlights the plight of migrant workers as they work to make an honest living under dangerous circumstances. Max Pachman brings the story of a group of undocumented workers to life and allows the audience to experience " the dark side of the American Dream " through their eyes in his directorial debut.? Beneath Us? is produced by a team of LatinX filmmakers including Jay Hernandez ( Hostel, Suicide Squad), Luis Guerrero, Chris Lemos, and William Knochel. The film stars James Tupper ( Big Little Lies, A Million Little Things), Lynn Collins ( X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Rigo Sanchez ( Queen of the South), Roberto 'Sanz' Sanchez ( 2 Fast 2 Furious), Thomas Chavira ( Shameless), Josue Aguirre ( Incarnate). The film is conscious not only of its social message, but strives to give voices to the LatinX community through every aspect of the production. In addition to this, the film is in both Spanish and English, which adds further authenticity to the stories being told. Following in the footsteps of other trail-blazing social horror, such as Jordan Peele 's? Get Out,? Beneath Us strives to explore hate crimes and immigration in modern day America. In the trailer, a group of undocumented workers are hired for renovation projects for an affluent, American couple who seek to take advantage of their cheap labor. From what is depicted, this seems to be part of an insidious plan to eventually bring harm to the laborers, and eventually bury them under their houses.? Beneath Us? aspires to start conversations amongst all cultural and racial groups by bridging the divide and making these types of problems more accessible by putting it front and center. Perhaps the most terrifying aspect of? Beneath Us, from the trailer, is the notion that undocumented workers are, in many ways, considered to be expendable and also occasionally come without the security of familial connections to keep them safe. If they go missing, nobody will miss them, and that's not always something people with privilege think about, as connections and relationships are such an integral part of American citizens' lives. The film sets out to reflect its title in nearly every way possible: literal, social, and emotional. There are undoubtedly mysteries to be solved here, and though the trailer does well to showcase the immediate terror these individuals face, there's surely more than meets the eye. Beneath Us? is slated for U. S. release on March 6th in heavily Latino markets.
