Star=Judy Garland Irving Brecher Liked it=19299 votes Year=1944 brief=Meet Me in St. Louis is a movie starring Judy Garland, Margaret O'Brien, and Mary Astor. In the year leading up to the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair, the four Smith daughters learn lessons of life and love, even as they prepare for a Greatest musical of all time. Choreography and score are sublime. She had good legs as well as that voice. Hollywood has put out quite a few musicals, and during this time frame there seemed to be plenty to choose from. This movie states it is a musical, but it's more like a drama trying for comedy with some musical numbers tossed in for good measure. And all of them too long too. Tootie, played by Margaret O'Brien, is so over-acted as to be annoying, and Judy Garland, in the starring role of Esther, looks positively awful. Actually, weird. At times she's cute, but other times, depending on how her hair was styled, she looked comical. Like a caricature of herself. The wardrobe, though, looked good, as did the indoor scenery of the Smith home, but that was about it. And here we have Mary Astor, one of the Grand Dames of the time, being totally wasted as the wife. And if there was a plot it was well hidden. Was this a movie about the St. Louis World's Fair, about 2 young women falling in love and all the drama that goes along with this issue, the antics of some 5-year old, a family upset because they have to move? At least with some other musicals we get an actual solid storyline. For example, The Music Man, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Singing in the Rain, etc. This movie I just could not pin down any solid plot, therefore, the movie was boring and I did not care for any of the characters. Yes, Garland has some pipes, but even her fantastic singing could not save this movie.
So hard to believe it's been 75 years since this movie was released! Love Judy and Margaret. Blues brought me here. At least they didnt put Pink floyd... 3:11 my spirit animal is wearing a girl's hat, and that makes him all the better. Debbie Reynolds' character is wearing a Quicksilver dress! I can't un-see it now. You see how much she likes him in this song, then at the end when she sees he's a nazi I felt so bad for her at that moment. Happy holidays everyone I started playing Xmas songs early Merry Xmas. For the last time, 480p is not HD. BUT this is the best looking trailer a quick search brought up, so I guess you're forgiven.
Really. “ everything is right in America “ “ if youre all white in America “ How true. Loo or lou well i need the loo after that punch ?. Judy didn't die; she's just somewhere over the rainbow. Edit: and just about today, my dog went to join her.

Back when Hollywood was great and stars had talent and respect. Meet Me in St. Louis is a rather ridiculous "good old days" movie. Told episodically, it focuses on a family's problems, which mainly involve daughters trying to get husbands and decisions on where to live.
While silly, the movie has charm to spare, supplied mainly by the always riveting Judy Garland and by Margaret O'Brien, giving her best performance as an anti-Shirley Temple. O'Brien's performance is surprising. While most of the movie is artificial even by the standards of the times, O'Brien offers a surprisingly id-based child obsessed with death and provocation. It is far more real than the simpering children who inhabit most 40s films. While the story is slight, the movie gets buy on tremendous moments, all involving Garland and O'Brien, as when Garland's heartbreaking rendition of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas is followed by O'Brien's surprising reaction. While it's no more realistic than Sleeping Beauty (even though Republicans often act as though this white, patriarchal, upper middle- class world is a thing we could actually "return" to) it is utterly charming.
So gorgeous, never understood why she was considered ugly. She's so beautiful. Haha, I wish I could just ask someone if they wanted an introduction and then play one on command. BUT SHE IS GENE KELLYS MAN! ?.
What a fitting song for Belkar to sing while killing his teammates... Wow. Everything about this performance is fantastic from the writing to the music, choreography, dancing, costumes, scenery is fantastic.

“Ill depend on you.” coughs up tea. I had no idea what my dad was doing talking about hoochie coochies all the time until now. The definitive version of this wonderful Christmas classic. HAPPY MMISL DAY I LOVE THIS BAND TOO MUCH. Why aren't politics and pretty much any argument or debate done in epic song and dance numbers? They would be so much more interesting. Is this the full dvd. Vinnie: Where did that dog come from? Harlan: She'll behave, mother. I've talked to her. ?. Gentlemen know what she's thinking of.

Luther, how'd he get in here? ?
