I loved this episode i know many others that did the same. You need to start just watching the show instead of looking for whatever antiwoke nonsense badwagon you've hopped on. The Amy & Rory 'death' always confused me a bit until i read a statement from the show-runner (at the time) Steven Moffat. The problem is the paradox's themselves. New York is now riddled with paradox's meaning another will rip a hole in the universe or whatever, Amy And Rory get sent back in time again at the end of the show after we see a grave with Rory's name on it, meaning he died because he was sent back in time and lived a full life, when Amy follows him her name also appears on the grave, this shows us that they lived a life together and then died of old age or whatever. If the doctor was to go back and get them, take them out of this supposed time-line that happened, which caused them to die and be inside of this grave that we see, would have never happened, therefore creating another paradox, so that's the reasoning as best i can explain it.

After thinking about the first episode of the new Doctor Who tonight, at first it felt 50% right, all the recognisable elements were there,but something was different, at first my feeling was it was lacking something, then reflecting on that i realised what that was, wobbly sets, studio sets with lots of potted plants standing in for dense jungle, the doctors "flamboyant" dress sense,etc.

Basically everything which dates the old episodes now, in other words i was not getting any buzz of nostalgia from it, and i came to my final conclusion, thats the only stumbling block i'm going to have with this, my preconceptions, oh to be 7 years old again. Its redundant to point out its differences,to whats gone before, as a criticism, because it had to improve in all those areas without question, to exist as a piece of viable, modern programming. So, then i watched it again, and i feel it fits the bill perfectly for what it is intended for, early Saturday evening, family entertainment.
