The opening scene is worth the price of admission and the fast-paced dialogue had me engaged throughout the film. Lots of witty lines and funny gags had the audience laughing. The acting was superb, especially Margot, who had to play her real life role as the director's girl friend and her acting role as Victor's wife in the past. Victor also was excellent playing the down and out jilted husband seeking connection to his past. Overall the tight script and flawless acting makes it one of my favourite movies of the year.

Je travaille depuis 4 ans avec des enfants atteints d'autisme (intégrés dans une école maternelle normale) je devais absolument voir ce film. En Belgique malgré le fait que nous ayons quelques infrastructures, tout n'est pas rose. L'intégration, l'acceptation du diagnostique pour les parents, les crises que les autres petits ne comprennent pas, le regard des gens, le rejet de certains professeurs. ? ce film m'a redonné du courage pour la suite. ? et l'envie de me battre pour ces petits qui méritent d'avoir une enfance presque comme tout le monde. Nous ne savons pas grand chose de cet handicap. Ce qui est sûre, c'est que ces enfants, ces adultes, sont extraordinaires. J'ai bcp appris de ce film. Un grand merci. Il est drôle, touchant, poignant, chapeau à tout ceux qui ont fait que ce film soit une réussite.

La belle époque csfd. La belle epoque film. La Belle Ã?pique et maman coud. I'd thought of writing a long, involved review of this one, concentrating on the plot antecedents, but what's the use? It's so much fun watching this comedy with dramatic touches that my critical sense is forgotten. Daniel Auteuil is splendid as Victor, and he makes the comic transitions from scene to scene very well. Fanny Ardant changes from sourly critical to warmly emotional as needed- haven't seen her as good at comedy since 8 Women. That's all; I hope to see it again on video.

Valentin m'a énormément fait de peine, j'ai failli pleurer au momant ou il se trouvait sur l'autoroute. J'ai eu peur qu'il se fasse écraser par des incompétent mentaux.?.

Let's just say it didn't disappoint. I floated out the Cine Lumiere in London feeling like I'd witnessed something unique, entertaining and deeply moving. If The Game and The Truman show got together and decided to make a French romantic comedy about marriage and the cracks that invariably establish over time, La Belle Époque is what it'd look like. The message is strong but never heavy handed, the comedy is sharp but never distracting. Highly recommend this one to all film lovers.
