Keep going ???. When she said, I'm so sick of it! it made me cry. Tom, you're almost 60 years old. You gotta stop doing batshit crazy stunts Maybe so, sir. But not today. Greetings again from the darkness. The title refers to a sacred Jewish ritual where the names of the Holocaust victims are recited in a musical style. It's a process that (sadly) covers a few days. In this film, it takes on a personal, as well as historical, significance. British cultural affairs expert Norman Lebrecht wrote the 2001 novel on which writer-director Francois Girard (THE RED VIOLIN, 1998, plus plays, operas and 2 Cirque de Soleil shows) and co-writer Jeffrey Caine based the film.
We open in 1951 London just minutes before the scheduled performance of young violin virtuoso Dovidl "David" Rapoport. He is to play Bruch and Bach in a concert sponsored by his "adoptive" father figure Gilbert Simmonds, who has sunk his entire life savings into producing the concert. Despite the assurances of Simmonds' son Martin, who has become like a brother to David, the featured performer is a no-show. leading Martin to search for him over the next 35 years. The film covers the story from the time Dovidl's Polish-Jewish father (played by Jakub Kotynski) agrees to his leave 9 year old, a violin prodigy, with the non-Jewish Simmonds in an attempt to protect the boy from the German invasion of Poland in the late 1930's. As Dovidl and Martin grow together, their bond become stronger. Martin is present when Dovidl renounces Judaism, even as becomes more proficient with his instrument and more saddened by the Holocaust that he avoided in his home country. Both boys are played at three different ages by three different actors. Dovidl is played by Luke Doyle at ages 9-13, Jonah Hauer-King at ages 17-23, and by Clive Owen in middle age. Martin is played by Misha Handley at ages 9-13, Gerran Howell at ages 17-23, and by Tim Roth in later life. The actors do a good job of capturing Martin's early irritation at Dovidl's arrogance, the shock of the no-show betrayal, and the later in life man who changed everything when he found out about his family, as well as the music teacher so desperate to find his long lost friend/brother. The film bounces between the three timelines so that we have a full picture of the impact they have had on each other's lives, and how Dovidl's disappearing act was quite devastating. Much of the film centers on Martin tracking down leads and talking to folks for some idea of the path taken by Dovidl. Mr. Roth is especially effective (and surprisingly understated) in his performance as a man haunted by the unexplained actions of a loved one. His wife, played by Catherine McCormick, is simultaneously understanding, patient, and emotionally affected. Stanley Townsend plays Martin's father. He cares for Dovidl as if her were a son, and provides what's necessary for the prodigy to develop and be groomed for performance. Three-time Oscar winner Howard Shore delivers a score that follows the good times and bad, not an easy task for a family drama within the shadow of the Holocaust. One specific sequence stands out, and it is filmed on the hallowed grounds of Treblinka - now a memorial, where the extermination camp once stood. There are many facets to the story, and most involve heavy emotions. We see children bearing more than they should. Parents protecting their children in times of crisis. The difference between religion and ethnicity is discussed. Broken trust proves especially damaging. Dovidl's disappearing act could be compared to that of JD Salinger, in that he seemingly disappeared for years. And maybe most of all, the idea of survivor's guilt is a theme, as Dovidl explains, You don't have to be guilty to feel guilty." The film may have some pacing issues, but it affords such a wealth of conversation topics, that any flaws are easily forgiven.
‘Our Time hook up gone bad. Harry, have you lost your glasses. What's the name of the music at the end. I saw this film last night and absolutely loved it, a feast for the senses. This song reminds me of my best friend gone.
Le chant des noms free movie download. Something I had buried and dug up to share. Might make it part of the Gaianverse, unsure, depends on how y'all like the idea of this character popping up sometimes~ Would be a NLR thing. The Chosen Path People walked in, neat and in rows. They took their seats in front of the glass window, blackness on the other side. A light flicked on revealing the chair. Some among the crowd thought “Its just like the movies”, others stared at the lever and then the door. The heavy steel door slides open and an Officer steps in, shotgun kept flush against their chest. Behind them was the prisoner, shackled heavily to the wheelchair being escorted by two medics, and behind them was the Priest and another officer. Everyone watched. Some couldnt believe it, this tiny and skinny woman who is missing an arm and a leg, had committed such atrocities? They all recalled the trial, the evidence against her, her confession and the videos. She had terrorized the city for an entire year. Multiple killings a week, every week, every month. Gruesome scenes people likened to an animal mauling. Bodies found in allies, entrails done like tinsel or spiderwebs, the body itself propped up as if on a crucifix. And this went on for an entire year, each scene slowly growing worse than the last with more bodies mixed in, patterns becoming more elaborate. People let out a sigh of relief when it was said the perpetrator had been caught in the act of putting the bodies on display. Some nutjob of a guy, cackling the whole time and mumbling to themselves, unfit to stand trial. They were going to close the case, they obviously had their guy and he was in custody. Then the real perpetrator revealed themselves. Unknown to the officers, they dragged in the drunkard, a skinny girl who was handicapped, throwing slurs and fighting people at the bar. Tossed her into one of the cells to cool off over night. Come morning the police go to check on everything and find her, covered in gore, sitting among the arranged corpses of the inmates and night shift. That smile plastered on her face. Pure unbridled joy. All while saying “It was me, it was me, it was me” over and over again like a chant. The day shift officers approached calmly, tasers at the ready. She twitched, was shot with a taser, and jolted at an officer. Blood sprayed as he held his throat, the other still tasing her and now fumbling for his firearm only to be downed with the knife. In total she had killed fifteen officers before she collapsed, with roughly twelve bullet holes in her and massive blood loss. Though she lived, hospitalized, and went to trial. Everyone tried to pin her as a Psychopath, insane, unfit to stand trial. No sane person would choose to do something like this. Every time someone mentioned choice her grin seemed to grow, before she finally cackled. A harrowing laugh that chilled everyone to the bone. “Choice, choice, oices! ” She speaks for the first time while on trial. “A choice is a choice, no matter the choice~” As the judge called for her to be silent, her lawyer trying to quiet her and finding her head impaled on the edge of the table. The Psychopath cackled again and sat on the table, grinning. “A choice is a choice, even if its no choice~” By now the Jury is just staring and gawking, the judge glaring and concerned as they noticed the broken shackles. She had been in the hospital just two days before, ‘still recovering but can stand trial were the doctors comment. She was still bandaged up from being shot, it was amazing that she was still alive, and that she still had such strength. “You. ” She points at the judge and moves her hand around. “Blame Always, all the time. ‘It wasnt her choice, ‘They had no choice. ” That cackle again fills the courtroom. “A choice is a choice even if its no choice~” By now she was balancing on her hand, bouncing on the table as if dancing. “Not madness, not disease, not divine will. I, Alurane, made a choice. ” That grin was now frozen on her face. “Many many times I made the choice. Over and over again, the same choice. ” The jury watched in horror as she flipped off the table, balanced on a single leg. By now the guards had guns trained on her, she slowly turned, staring at them, leaned forward as if bowing with her arm stretched out. Half her body was gone, her left arm and leg, horribly scarred on that side of her body as well. “venteen…” Quietly counting those two numbers while staring down the guards, referencing the number of police she had killed before being taken down. She then turned back to the courtroom. “A choice was made, I made it many times over! Me, a human being, flesh and blood. All of us, gifted life, and I chose to extinguish it from many people. ” The Prosecutor interjected. “So youre insane, no sa-” He was suddenly cut off by Alurane. “ NO. ” She was now squatted on his table, staring into his eyes with a scowl on her face and a deep growl escaped her. “I chose, of my free murder those people~” That voice now soft again, a sing song tone to it. “I chose to murder the inmates, the police officers, the pretty lawyer lady over there~” As if on cue the body slumped off and hit the ground with a wet ‘squelch from the table. “And have a choice. ” Her head snaps and leans back, staring at the Jury. “Does the “crazy lady” get locked away in a hug jacket in an insane asylum? ” She springs off the table and hops about, the shackles on her rattling. “Where she will inevitably escape from~ Where she will choose to go on another spree of murders? ” Her head tilted to the side. “Or will you choose to end the murderers life? ” She cackles again and slinks back to her chair. “A choice is a choice, even if its no choice~” And here we are. She is unshackled from the wheelchair, the two medics hoist her from it. A muzzle on her face as she is strapped down hard to the chair. While in prison she had managed to get another twenty kills in over the course of the year until her execution. They found that injection would not work on her, at least not in a “no cruel or unusual” way. And so the electric chair was pulled out just for her. Those there to witness the end of her life were on bated breath, anticipating the end. The Priest is going through the final rites and she has her muzzle removed so she can speak and she just grins. “A choice is a choice, but was it the right choice? ” Fixed to the seat, the sponge on her head, helmet over it, strapped in. That smile never leaving her face, unbridled and pure manic joy as she stared at the mirrored window. The witnesses could see her, but she couldnt see them. The switch is then flipped. Lights flickered and dimmed and that cackle rings in the air. The jolt of electricity ran through her and she was laughing the whole time before the lights suddenly popped and went out. Darkness. Silence. Someones phone flicks on, flashlight illuminating the chair. Alurane there, grin stuck on her face. Darkness again as the phone turns away from it and then glass shatters, a gun goes off, the brief flash of light revealed the empty chair. Another shot in the darkness, then silence for a shuffle of glass on the stone floor being crunched under foot. “Choices, choices, choices. ” A momentary pause. “So many choices and all of them the same! ” That cackle rings in the air again, followed by screams, crunching of bones, dull whuds of bodies being tossed. And lence again. Far Darrig The criminal that had been captured, and had been rushed to the execution chamber in little less than a year after trial. Journalists researched this “Alurane” girl, trying to find out who, what, this girl is. Many turned up next to nothing, no last name, no records to track them down, her prosthetics were hand made by herself and impossible to track that way. Fewer turned up possible links connecting her to various other murders across the globe. Doing little more than putting her in the area at the time. Even fewer, those with true underworld connections, turned up little more than horror stories. Tales of someone, something, circulating the underworld. The Far Darrig, the Red man. Hooded figure, small, fast, manic, and laughter. It was, of course, just horror stories, tall tales told by the superstitious of the underworld. There is no way one single person could have traveled all across the globe, delved and walked in the dark underworld, and left such an impression to become a horror story told by organized crime lords. And yet as news of the massacre spread, the legend of the Far Darrig seemed less and less folk tale and more like reality. Of course the media never published any of the findings, it was rumor and speculation, tied to the dark underworld that never gets spoken about. A woman survives the electric chair, breaks free, and with only one arm and one leg kills the guards and the witnesses of the execution. Then proceeds to simply vanish. The public nature of her murders, of the failed execution, it was the first glimpse into the horrors of the world that the common people had seen. It seemed that the criminal world could not keep her contained, nor entertained, for ever and this Far Darrig went into the light and was seen by all, heard by many. As such, with her being seen in the light, the stories of her circulated into the light. The journalists repeating the tales they found in the dark, the legend of the Far Darrig. One such story takes place in Rome. A crime family was gaining power, its rivals being executed with vicious efficiency. They simply said they had a demon in their employ. And when people started vanishing, people blamed it on the resident “Demon” of the mafia. This drew the ire of the Vatican. The story goes the Vatican still has something of a private military in its employ, and that a detachment of these Inquisitorial Soldiers was sent to apprehend and execute this demon, for the good of the people. Le chant des noms Free. Le chant des noms free movie theater. This sub saved my life, and I really, truly believe that. I spent years in a narcissistic, abusive relationship that ended in a divorce where I lost nearly everything including most of my finances, my house, and my dog. Lucky, no children were involved. While I don't post much here anymore, I wanted to pop in and give some words of encouragement. When I first learned about narcissism, gaslighting, projection, hoovering, triangulation, etc., my brain was drown in flashbacks of all the abuse. Everything clicked in a flood of images and memories, like in the movies. Not to long after educating myself and speaking with my therapist, my ex wife was caught in a her web of lies, obviously denying any accusation presented to her regardless of how much evidence there was. I was a broken person, the thought of being twenty four and a divorcee was mind boggling to me. I frequently posted on this sub under a burner account, begging for advice or decompressing from that day's worth of drama. Now, I'm about five months NC. I have my own place. I'm more attuned with my emotions than I ever have been. I am slowly recouping my finances. Honestly, my life isn't all that exciting now despite my freedom and newly acquired love for who I am, and that's okay, because there is so much peace. So, so much peace. Don't get me wrong, I still have bouts of loneliness where I find myself sitting in my apartment wishing to have more companionship with someone whom I can love and pour myself into. There are still songs that I refuse to listen to, because they spike my blood pressure. And yes, the thinly veiled attempts at hoovering leave me shaking my head (and sometimes laughing depending on the level of unabashed desperation. For all intents and purposes though, the worst is over. The divorce was finalized months ago. The affairs with the house and our possessions is settled, and I have no obligation to ever speak with her again. *big sigh of relief* So, as a survivor of mountains of verbal, emotional, and sexual abuse, I want to give you guys the most practical advice that I can reasonably condense down to one post, because I owe a debt to this sub that I will never be able to fully repay. First, you don't owe them any explanation for their behavior. It is typical narcissistic behavior to blame their supply for action they themselves are committing. If you have evidence exposing their lies, cheating, or other unruly behavior and you feel the need to confront them, DO NOT PLAY YOUR HAND. The less information they can have, the better it is for you. These people distort reality like Dali's melting clocks. If you have found sensitive text messages, you don't need to tell them specifics other than you have explicit evidence of their behavior. Obviously, they are going to deny it, but they are also going to deny it even if you show them evidence straight to their face. There is so, so much that I never acknowledged knowing to my ex, and that served me better than any well thought-out argument I could have come up with. Let THEM fall into their own lies. Yes, that may seem like you are waiting for them to fall into a trap, but remember, they are the ones who set up the trip lines when they decided to start abusing and lying. Second, go No Contact if at all possible. Obviously, this is not possible for some especially when kids are involved, but gaslight is like radiation: the longer you are exposed, the more deadly it becomes. A quick glance at this sub will display this fact with increasing veracity. It breaks my heart to see posts that read like "I got back with my ex, and I don't know why. With sex and guilt being such a powerful tool in influencing people, it really is no surprises that these are two huge bartering chips for narcs. Frankly, its disgusting, but most of their behavior is. Coming from someone who fell into this ploy several times, even during the divorce proceedings, I know how hard it is to give up hope. You aren't giving up though. You are vanquishing an enemy that will destroy you. Their pathology is so dense and life-consuming, that most are utterly beyond change, and even if they aren't, you are not responsible for sitting by waiting for those promises of change to be fulfilled. Get out. Get help. Hoovering is no doubt on its way, especially if they start dating again. Just know this, the best test to tell if a narcissist is trying to manipulate you is to check if their mouth is open. Accept that your feelings are valid. Narcissists can distort reality in untraceable ways, but your feelings are like hound dogs for finding the trail of truth. If you are feeling like you are being disrespected, devalued, and discredited, ask yourself "why. Seriously, ask yourself why you feel that way, and don't shut it down with "Maybe I'm crazy. Crazy people don't think that way; you're good. You aren't crazy. Especially if you are in a romantic relationship, you have every right to address these feelings with your narcissist, but I guarantee that it will end with you being told to feel unreasonable, unreliable, or (here is the key word) crazy. No one, no one, has any right to tell you how to feel, because those emotions are valuable and unique to you. They are such powerful boons to your health; embrace them even if they feel hard to love. The feelings that are especially hard to stomach are most likely the most important ones for your cause. If they are parts of you, they are just as lonely and confused as you are. It always helped me to imagine my emotions as different animals that I needed to care for, and the one that I consistently beat and starved was self-acceptance. I take special care of that piece now. Lastly, be patient with yourself. You, no doubt, are very confused and disoriented. You have probably been walking on egg shells for a while now, only to have cracked one of those eggs and find it rotten to the core. Accepting that you have been taken advantage of repeatedly can lead to a lot of shame. I'll tell you this now, though. You aren't dumb. You aren't and idiot for someone else's ruthless abuse of your time and emotional currency. Yes, you missed a lot of red flags, red flags that other people may have even tried to warn you about, but you did your best. I believe that, even if you are an internet stranger. You did your best. If you made decisions that you thought were the best thing for you based on the information that you had at hand. The problem isn't you, it was the corrupted information that you had to work with. If you were to have had better info, you would have made different decisions. You did your best, and you are currently doing your best. Hell, sometimes doing your best (especially if you are planning on leaving your narc) may just be as simple as taking a shower for the first time in days. That's a fucking win. That is a HUGE win, actually, and anyone who has gone through this process can attest to that. If one of your friends were to go through this type of abuse, imagine how much understanding and patience you would display for them. Now, give that to yourself. You can do it. You deserve that much. There is so much more I could write here, so much more I have actually written down before too, and so much more that I continue to write on various other places. I see so many people hurting on this sub, people that look a lot like I did, and I'm not too far removed from those days that I can't wholly empathize with you. I know who you are in a deep way, even if I don't know your name. You are me. I was lost, confused, scared for my life at times, heart broken, battered, sexually repressed, emotionally vacuous, neurotic, sleep deprived, and paranoid. I survived though. I survived, and found ways to not just cope but thrive. Sometimes, thriving means rolling down my windows and blaring "Despicable" by Grandson, singing at the top of my lungs. Other times, that means cooking a fancy meal and eating it in the bathtub. Other, other times, that means letting myself cry over the strange mixture of emotions that sometimes wash over me in unexpected ways. The day that all the divorce proceedings and paperwork were finalized, I handed over the keys to my former home, and presented her with her copies of the new deed. She had made the day as exhausting as possible, showing up late, bringing her father, threatened to not show at all, etc. I was exhausted, but I was free. I turned around, and as I was about to shut the door, I hear her say, Your just going to leave. I look back to see her outstretched hand. It was her last power play. She got everything from the day we met. She got a horse, a house, mountains of attention and patience, my heart, my dedication, and now she wanted to shake my hand, as if there were some business transaction in place. There was a transaction, mind you, but I had never seen any returns on my investment. I was/am done making deals with the devil. I sit back in my jeep, roll down the window, look her square in the eyes, and say, Yup. Those were the last words I ever spoke to her. I drove away, free for the first time in years. I hope you discover a way to crawl out of the darkness and find that moment, yourself. You deserve it.
