It also seems to reflect the path of a shaman, where instead of taking the approach of what is being done to me, who said that about me, what did i see today, there comes a point in which one wants to merge into life, to be at one with life, beyond dualities of black or white, yin or yang. In mystic terms it is stepping thrugh the veil of illusion and finding the at one exerience. Yep it is looking past "making the scene" and past whether your loved one loves you or lies, it is about being in your centre and at one. The shaman path type lyrics are most interesting in many of his songs. 2 TOP RATED anonymous Nov 27th, 2007 11:55pm This song reflects the way Jim lived, the way he felt, what he wanted. And he invited us all to follow on through to the other side! A demand, a dead end, a no-turning back road. Always living on the edge, always daring, he left us all back wandering what he wanted to say... A lonely soul, the soul of the Poet. 3 TOP RATED Dec 27th, 2005 12:16pm This song is about breaking through the "doors of perception"- what you see and think to be real, and what really is real- to the "other side", the side of life and everything you've never seen before. This means different things to different people. The gateway could be sex, drugs, or music, or just a personal revelation you have, but at some point in our lives, we have to "break on through to the other side" and find our own version of the truth in life. In Jim's case, he broke through the barrier with sex, drugs, and rock'n roll. Maybe not the best way to go, but that's how he widened his own perceptions. And in the end it killed him. But in a crazy world, we have to see through the lies and deceptions and find the truth... and break on through to the other side. That's what Jim was probably trying to say. Feb 24th, 2:11pm Looking for utopia, ie, a better journey toward the ultimate truth. Leaving behind an unplanned existence for one of bbn our choosing. Existential being of our own choosing, not preplanned or random. Oct 24th, 2017 10:51am I think Morrison is giving us hints about what he knew of the flat earth and the reality of the black hole sun at the center of the dish where what they tell us is the Northern Lights is actually the green astral jet of creation where all souls enter this plane. Its a plate with a hole in the center with a black sun underneath and our sun up top, but we're on the wrong side right now and we need to get on the other side for eternal life. Were in hell folks "Break on through" -+ Apr 21st, 2017 4:04pm In my world - opening 2 lines stating a human truth.. day night.. light dark.. eternal mortal.. truth lie. However, after highlighting the 1960' version of Usa Mores, values, Jim seems to state that he and everyone else he can see around him has breached and corrupted them, he highlights his own foibles as microcosm. I take from the song that Jim Morrison is saying that from which everside of day night-right wrong-lies truth-wealth poverty-race gender-faith creed whatever our values and core beliefs' we're fucking it up for ourselves by not breaking on to the other side. Break on through to the otherside... see the big picture you thick Bastards. Personal note for 16 year old from Denmark - it's not all about you and your first lost love or you and any other personal experience you've had or will have- that's your creative input into the song.. as this is mine.. as you will see in time. Jul 21st, 2016 7:50pm Hi there! I could have sworn I've been to this blog before but after checking through some of the post I realized it's new to me. Nonetheless, I'm definitely happy I found it and I'll be bookmarking and checking back frequently! ffdfgcdfaceeggba Jul 15th, 2016 7:43am He was killed because this song. He was saying way too much & trying to enlighten us. He realizes how he had to sell his sole to the devil and only after getting there, realizes he wants no part of it. He's speaking of America, the, harlot. Everyone is so blind, oblivious, to what's happening right before our eyes, to busy watching rigged sports instead of how we've literally lost our rights. But it's too late, I'll shut up bc the government will call me a terrorist. He had to word it perfectly and that's how everything we watch, music, tv, it's all controlled. The road is wide to evil, but very narrow to good. You notice how all these iconic musicians are mysteriously dying, the record companies stealing their royalties and the family's rights to it. They make more money off them dead. Michael Jackson was pimped out by his father as a boy, that's why he hated him and lived in paranoia, he didn't want to sing what the record companies demanded, that's why he was scared. He wasn't gay, he wanted to protect those huge little boy stars from being pimped out to the elite. Not to take light from Morrison, but so many like him, Kurt Cobain, Lenin. Poor Lindsay is being pimped out in London, Russians. If you really pay attention and are more aware of what these guys were saying, you'll get it. kooljohn176 Jan 1st, 2016 1:43pm Read and heard all of the opinions about this song that are interesting in this great old song by JIM MORRISON and The DOORS that was also on the Weird scenes inside the Goldmine album that was awesome to influence many to get into it through the doors of perception or illusion if you wanna call it that. With Jim Morrison the poet, politically conservative at that time that loved to do psychedelics when many times in his mind he became the symbolic forms with the songs to be easily let into being possessed by them and the music like some kind of a shaman that was abducted by a alien force to brake on through the veil to see the other side of reality that is not so concrete and hard by melting into it to Break on through [to the other side] Now certain psychedelics could influence this perception, but also without them this is still a enjoyable song to get into by staying positive and persistent to make a breakthrough in life, whatever that is for you to understand yourself better by the experience. It could be as simple as like the first time you broke through by the intercourse with the opposite sex that could make you cry with your loved one to feel the oneness with the universe as a holy and a holistic feeling. Aug 11th, 2015 8:48pm I think Jim was talking about pain. Pain is the thing we all try to avoid. But pain sticks with you like magnets on a refrigerator. I feel Jim knew a thing or two about waking up, awakening. But the dealing with the pain he carried was not 'accepting' it, but to fight it. When you fight pain, you just feed it and it becomes heavier and heavier. Pain wants to be felt, experienced. Pain show us the way to a better life, a better world. Accept it. The fact is, be happy that you can feel pain. It makes you feel alive. Nov 4th, 2014 11:30pm It's about possession & the demons trying to break through to our side "The other side" Dora Sue Lance Aug 20th, 2014 8:11am I totally think it's all about religion and LSD maybe for back in them days window pane. One reason being is the way it last how strong it is and individual visuals. Now Jim's visions on this drug was telling him and showing him so many things.. He was telling us get off the drugs (break on thro to the other side) jus saying May 26th, 2014 5:43pm I read that Jim's flat was a bit of a mess. It had bottles and cans and ashtrays and drug paraphernalia lying about and he hardly ever did the dusting and he did not change his bed linen very often, if at all, so his duvet was pretty much rigid with dirt, ketchup stains and bodily fluids. As we know, Jim was prone to depression and often spent many days in bed without getting up and maybe only rising now and then to write some poetry or something. So I imagine Break on Through is about Jim lying in his bed thinking 'If only I could break out of this stiff, stinky duvet and go down to Venice Beach and hang with the musclemen, ' maybe? May 11th, 2014 5:12pm I personally believe it is about acid. "Breaking on through to the other side" is equivalent to experiencing what is known as "ego death. " Look it up. It is an experience where one realizes the boundaries between himself and the universe do not exist. You learn that you ARE the universe. It is an immense experience. Jul 31st, 2013 7:52am Actually, most of you are totally wrong. Ray Manzarek explained, the song is about breaking through from life to death (the other side). It's a song of transition to the spiritual world. He should know - so do some reading instead of making shit up lol Coulditbe May 31st, 2013 5:56pm Could be about just starting to hallucinate, or trying to get someone not to by telling them to hallucinate, by trying to control the words in their life. The night divides the day are the stripes on a zebra, and how they coincide with how night and day have a place constantly moving on this planet, 24 hours a day. Constantly where there is both a darkness, and the light, beside each other moving around the planet. Break on through also had a thing to do with virginity, and all the forms of breaking flesh. From carnivore teeth to knives

I also am dealing with some anxiety brought on by being stuck in the house so i have not edited this as fully as I should have. Assets and Debt Retirement Balance - $59k, I put in 10% and my school matches. This would be higher but years ago I cashed out my account completely to pay for a cross country move. I regret it now but oh well. I have no clue what is in my husbands. Equity - We took out a mortgage of 400k almost 2 years ago. We had sold another house and used that money to put the down payment on the house and install a swimming pool. The house currently appraises for $540k and we owe about $369k on the loan. Savings account balance - $10K. This is part of our emergency fund. My personal checking account balance: $580 right now this is where I place $500 a month in individual spending money. Anything not related to the family such as my lunches and personal spending comes from this. I typically do not spend it all in a month and let the remainder roll over until I need it. Joint Checking: $8k at any given time Credit card debt - None. We do use our card during the month but pay it off at the end of each month. We don’t allow a balance to roll over. Student loan debt - $156, 000 for me; none for my husband Finances as a couple: My husband and I have joint checking, savings and credit card accounts. I also have a separate checking account where we deposit $500 a month for me to use as I want. I also have a credit card in just my name that I use for personal travel or work expenses that get reimbursed. I don’t carry a balance. My husband has a credit card for her personal expenses and pays it off monthly. His “allowance” is the same as mine. He often doesn’t use the whole amount. All our expenses otherwise come from the joint account. Income Monthly Take Home: $5562. 93 for me My husbands pay 2135. 15 weekly plus an annual bonus which varies. (Last year was $28k but we only expect about $10k this year) Retirement $939. 58 ( matched 100% by my employer) Health Insurance for the whole family $498. 27 Vision and Dental Insurance (whole family $156. 32 Life Insurance (for AD&D my employer cover the cost of my whole life policy) $8. 78 Section Three: Expenses Mortgage: $2607. 92 (includes taxes and homeowners insurance) Utilities: $325 ( electric, gas, water and trash) Internet: $70 Cellphone - $127. 38 for both husband and I with data (discounted by my husband’s company) Hulu; $11. 99 Netflix - $13. 99 Child Care: $75 per week for after school program and $20 for a part time sitter who watches his about 6-8 hours per week Karate lessons: $50 a month Car payment: Lease, $350/month for my car and $400 a month for my husbands Jeep which we are buying not leasing Car Insurance: $1280 per year Amazon Subscribe and save (for supplies for my grandmother) $60 Amazon Kindle Unlimited and HBO: $20 Student loans: $1500 total for private and government loans Orange Theory $179 a month Amazon Prime: $99 a year My allowance: $500 per month Husbands allowance: $500 per month Day 1: sun March 8 7am: Wake up to the sound of rain on the boat deck. We spent the weekend on our boat this weekend and for the first time in a while we actually left our son with my sister in law. It has been really nice. We get up and make coffee and eat a couple of bananas while we talk about what we want to do today. Noon: We spent the morning organizing the boat. We are slowly getting our boat set up for being able to spend entire weekends on it as family. Today we tackled up dating the electrical plugs to usb chargers and organizing the galley a bit. Now we sit down and I make us a couple of sandwiches and we drink some cheap wine. We will head home soon. 3 pm: We arrive home and my sister in law texts that she is taking our son and her grand daughter to a play so they won’t be home closer to 5pm. While riding in the car I made an order from Instacart for the few groceries we will need this week. I ordered milk, ketchup, lunchables, frozen veggies, frozen burritos, breakfast burritos, Eggos, chicken strips, pop tarts, canned veggies, La Croix, and a couple of boxes of pasta. ($75. 63 including tip) 5pm: I spend the evening cooking dinner and meal prepping while my husband gives our son a bath and does our weekly laundry. I pull a frozen pan of enchiladas out and pop them in the oven. Once a month or so I will spend a Sunday making frozen meals that we can make the rest of the month. I also prep my lunch for the week. Except when i go to the freezer i see i actually only have one frozen turkey burger left. I go ahead and cook it and a bag of Southwest frozen veggies to make a bowl for tomorrow. 9pm: It is my husband night for bed time so I go take a bath and do my Sunday night girly routine. Face peel (The Ordinary AHA peel) followed by a Sephora hydration sheet mask, shave my legs, exfoliate my entire body with a homemade coffee scrub and then apply Elemis recovery cream oil. I hop in bed and fall asleep before my husband joins me. Our son has been dealing with insomnia so unfortunately this is becoming too common. Day2: Monday March 9 6 am: I wake up early and cuss my alarm. I hate mondays. I get up and put on my work out clothes, pack a day bag and head to the kitchen. I make my son frozen waffles and sausage for breakfast and pack his lunch (lunchable, cuties and yogurt pretzels purchased last week) I wake up my son and put his ADHD med patch on him. My husband wakes up and meets me in the kitchen. I mix cold brew coffee, milk and vanilla syrup and take a seat. We visit until its time for me to head to my Orange Theory class. 9 am: After a workout that I dragged myself thru I shower at the gym, dress and drive to work. My commute is nearly an hour but today I notice the road is nearly completely clear. I start to wonder if everyone is panicked over Coronavirus. 11am: I run out to a local salon for a consultation. I am considering getting some major highlights in my very dark virgin hair. Because its only a consultation today it is free. At the end I feel like this salon is a good fit and I make an appointment for the next week. Afterwards I head to Sprouts. I am not feeling my turkey lunch so I buy a couple of cartons of soup, a few rolls from the bakery, Irish butter, blackberries, Inca corn, a couple of bananas and some olives from the olive bar ($28. 45 from my personal account) This should last me the week. When i get back to the office i eat some blackberries and a bowl of chicken noodle soup. 4pm: I spent the afternoon at work going over our budget and setting a meeting with the other Directors about how we will be handling the Corona Virus panic. I head home and the commute home takes the full hour today. Once home I toss some chicken tenders in the air fryer and make some mac n cheese. Our part time nanny picks up our son and he eats before going to Karate. I go out to the garage/family to watch tv. My husband is out for the night with a friend so I am just chilling while the boy is at karate. I eat my not that nutritious dinner. 9pm: The nanny leaves at 8pm and then I put the little one to bed. It is still rough but he falls asleep slightly faster. I wash my face and apply my night cream. I get in the bed and pass out. Day 3 Tuesday 6:30am: I wake up and have the same routine every morning. I toss on workout gear, pack a day bag, make breakfast and lunch for the boy and enjoy my cold brew with the husband until I head out at 7:45am. Its raining so I expect the drive to be a nightmare however it doesn’t take any longer than normal. The roads seem less congested this week. 10am: On Tuesday I work for a couple of hours then head to my Orange Theory class. After class I shower then dress in the locker room. I toss my wet hair in a bun and today do a bit of makeup. I wear Caudalie moisture sorbet, Dr Jarts Tiger grass serum with Drunk Elephant D Bronzi mixed in, a random blush that is so old the label wore off and Fresh Sugar balm in Berry. I have some afternoon meetings and figured I could look like a grown up for the day at in the office I eat a mug of tomato soup and a roll from my Sprouts trip the day before.. 3pm: It has been a rough day. Parents are up in arms about the inability of the campus clinic to test for Corona. I also am trying to locate additional testing space for the next day. With Spring Break next week lots of faculty are scheduling exams for this week and we have more students testing than we have space. I also order some foot peels and a pair of sandals from Amazon ($41. 81). Summer is nearly here and my feel are gross looking. 4:30pm: I head home. Tonight my husband and I will have our weekly date night and go out. The baby sitter will put up our son. 6pm: K and I go to our favorite restaurant. He orders a glass of wine and the flat iron steak. I get wine and the Greek salad with salmon. ($139. 51 with tip) We also talk about our plans for the rest of the week and he catches me up his spending for the week so I can do this. He spent $50 from the joint account for gas but everything else is from his personal money. 8pm: We get home and pay the sitter for the week ($120) We grab a couple more glasses of wine and sit in the living room talking until the little guy is asleep. I also do some ordering from Sephora. I buy a new face pallet, sheet masks, cleaning wipes, mascara and a more of the face peel I use. ($104. 95 from my personal account) I cringe. I don’t wear much makeup but I am trying to start. 10pm: I fall asleep watching old Rick and Morty episodes with K. Day 4: 6am: I wake up with plans to hit the gym.
