Hi everyone!
I just want to make a quick video because I’ve received a lot of messages overnight from people I suppose in North America hearing about the earthquakes for the first time on the news and I’m not quite sure how they are reporting it.
As you probably heard a series of earthquakes have struck the coast, the northern coast of Japan over the past day and tremors have continued through the night.
(0:31)
Aftershocks have continued until early this morning as far as I know.
But fortunately for me I live down in southern part of Japan.
I’ll show you a quick little map here.
As you can see on the map the places in red are where the TSUNAMI height is estimated to be about 3 M and in some cases I think I heard it was up to 10 M yesterday.
(0:57)
In the orange(??) the TSUNAMI is estimated up to 2 M and where I live which is down here is very mild, so luckily we have very little to worry about.
What I wanted to say today is that even though we are fine even though Ryuhei and I have very little affect, there are lots of people up north Tokyo, Ibaragi, Miyagi who have suffered a ton of damage, there are people who have lost their homes, people who have lost the entire town.
(1:28)
There are… have been right now on the news.
It says 430 people have been confirmed dead, over 720 people are missing.
And I expect that those numbers are going to rise throughout the day.
Those of you who are at home who are wondering how you can help and for other people like me who are in Japan and wondering how you can help.....
I know that CNN.com has listed a bunch of websites that you can go to if you want to donate money and I’ll leave the link in the description box, so please check that out if you’re from North America or overseas.
(2:04)
And for those of you who are in Japan I actually just heard a few minutes ago that if you go to groupon.jp…
Groupon has shut down all their services and instead they have one charity button and if you donate 200 yen they plan to match it and your donation will be worth 400 yen.
That’s about 4 $.
(2:27)
I’m sure there are other ways to donate money but I’m really encouraging you to do so because this damage is very severe.
It’s just devastated …
But yes anyway…
I’m fine and thank you for worrying about me.
If anything changes I’ll let you know.
That’s it.
