I thought maybe I could share some things about the book that (after reading the synopsis of the movie on wiki) I think are different, and perhaps could have saved the movie, based on what I heard you say about it. in The Turn of the Screw, most of the story is a 'story within a story' being told by another person who supposedly personally knew the governness. at the end of the story also, Flora was sent away (supposedly) and Miles had died and it's never revealed whether or not the governess killed him (but he dies in her arms. This is where the book ends. Although many people say that the governness only saw delusions, other scholars know Henry James to be more of a straight forward writer, and believe that this was only ever written as a simple ghost story.
